I WILL BE ENOUGH
I WILL BE ENOUGH
Chapter 162.
Claudia's pov.
Climbing down from the cliff's edge, I waltzed into the brimstone coven on all fours, the stares were endless, the atmosphere shifted from celebratory to curiosity, fear and amusement.
I wasn't bothered however as I shifted between strides and from nowhere, a blanket was wrapped around my shoulders. The hands around me left a spark where they touched, a spark that was familiar.
Gazing up at the owner of those hands and staring into the beautiful green eyes I had missed terribly, not the ones that belonged to Celeste though, this has become quite too often.
“Hi!” I greeted with a smile which he returned, holding me tight in his arms.
There was a commotion that pulled us out of this trance, Finch and Kyle pushed their way to the forefront of the crowd, “That was you, wasn't it?”
Celeste's voice replied instead, “Yes, it was, and you will do well to understand who she is and what she has to offer,”
“Mother?!!” Warren cocked his head in surprise at his mother's entrance, “What are you doing here?”
Celeste smiled, her eyes shone bright at the sight of her son, “Well, I'm here to help, am I not allowed to?”
I let him go into his mother's open arm.
After their brief exchange, we returned back to the business, “We should head to somewhere more private, don't you think finch?” The manner at which Celeste called his name, like she had known him for a long time.
And the way Finch didn't react to it made me believe that they had a history.
We convenes away from the traumatised crowd as they gathered their injured for healing. If I had been even a second late, it would have been worse and the the prophecy would have come to pass.
I needed to be careful.
The circle had reduced, “Where are my parents, and the others?”
Warren narrated how my father and the others were being controlled, shifted and attacked them, “they left with the others,”
“Your mother is helping with the injured and so is keto,”
I sighed, at least they were alive,
I sucked in a deep breath and in the next second, Finch began, “Why are you back Celeste?”
“Don't worry finch, I would be out of your hair in no time, I'm only here for my son and his girlfriend which you were once again stupid enough to block the powers of the one person who could save you all,” her disappointment was quite strong in her tone.
Patriach Finch's features turned red, “We didn't have a choice, she had used dark which and you of all people should know the consequences of that,”
“That is beside the point at the moment, as you can see I am the only one who can stop them so if you still want to fully lock my powers then you can go ahead, but you might as well want to look around,” I cut in between their back and forth conversation.
I was the center of attention, but this time, I didn't back down, I wasn't going to be scared, “You've witnessed the power of those monsters in a way you can never forget, I am the only one capable of stopping them,” I reminded that my powers were far more effective on the mutants.
Finch no longer pushed for my powers to be bounded, “But after this, I hope you do know the consequences would be dire,”
Silence filled the room and dread settled at the pit of my stomach. I nodded slowly, willing to accept my fate once the time comes.
Kyle interjected, “What are we to do with the mutants then? How do we kill them?” Bloodied and bruised, he spat a mouthful of blood in the ground.
“We are not killing them,” I shot back strongly, “what if we take a page out of Jacobs book,” I had thought of this while sprinting my way over here.
The confused look on the room made me continue, “I'm taking about taking away their ability to shift, using a direwolf, that way they return to humans,”
It was a solid plan, and one which could save them.
One of the twins who was in attendant chipped in, “But what if that didn't work,’
“Exactly. Jacob’s plan was to wipe out the wolves using a Direwolf,” Finch said, unease lacing his voice.
I sighed, already anticipating the storm of questions. “All of that is true,” I admitted, “but it’s still worth attempting. We can alter his spell—bend it in a way that doesn’t condemn them all to death.”
Another voice cut in at once. “And you’re forgetting something,” someone pointed out. “There aren’t enough Direwolves to face that many beasts. We’re talking fewer than a handful.”
I was already ahead of them, “We can use just one Direwolf……”
“Me,”
I dropped the shoe and waited for their reactions, my gaze spammed across the room and they all stared back at me. Warren was about to speak beside me, but I held his hands, staring into his eyes as though asking him to trust me for now.
“I am strong enough, Jacob has done it before and we can do it again, all we have to do is gather them all in one place and once it's time, you all use me as the vessel to cast the spell,”
Celeste stared at me as though she had known this was my decision all along. The others were shocked as well that I would have made such decision yet they said nothing.
“It's the only way we can save them without death being a solution,”
Finch released a strained breath. “If that is what you wish,” he said, though the worry in his voice betrayed him.
We discussed other plans of how we would take down both Sage and Croft at the same time. All along my heart was still, calm, I was not afraid and wouldn't be.
This was what I was born to be, and I was done running away from it.
