CHAPTER 90
CHAPTER 90
4 YEARS LATER
Archer
I can't believe it's been years since I gave off my title to focus only on my family. Ric didn't even last a year in the empire and was killed. It's funny how he thought he could do it all on his own.
The only way to survive in the empire is to have a connection, I do, he doesn't. Without me, those connections created years ago are useless; that is what cost him his life.
Everything showed that he had betrayed me when he went solo, and in this game, betrayal comes with a price.
Hugo, my best friend, has now taken over. Although he still wants me to return to the brotherhood. Isla can now walk and talk more than gibberish.
She's obsessed with sitting in the garden and discovering née insects. She's just like her mother, but a little different.
Savien became the family guard, swearing to protect us with his life. In the last two years, I heard that my mother died; she was shot by the police. Well, they discovered their child trafficking game and hunted them down. She tried to escape, and that was it.
I can't put my finger on it, but I think El might be pregnant again. “Daddy, Daddy, look. Isn't it pretty?” Isla came running, holding yet another bug. This girl will be the death of me.
“Very pretty, baby, but don't put it in your mouth.”
“Why? It's very pretty.”
“Yes baby, but it has a family, just like us. Once you put it in your mouth, it won't be able to wake up and go back to its family. You wouldn’t want the bug family to be sad, right?” She pouted with teary eyes. “No.” She said softly. El suddenly appeared from the back and scooped her up, patting her back to prevent her from crying.
“Stop telling her sad stories. You know she's sensitive.” She said through clenched teeth. I shrugged my shoulders as she walked away with her.
Elena
“Mummy, the daddy bug won't get to go back to its family…he's not waking up.” Isla sobbed as she held the half-dead bug up. I carefully grabbed it from her and started to pat her back again.
“No baby, the daddy bug is very strong, just like your daddy.”
“It is?” She looked up at me with her big teary eyes. “Yes, your daddy was once like this bug, very weak and asleep, but because he knew he had a family to come to, he fought to wake up. That's the same thing this little bug is going to do.”
“Mummy look.” isla said in a high pitched voice while pointing at the bug. It was alive and flew away.
“See?” I smiled while kissing her cheeks, and she giggled.
“Don't leave me out of the fun.” Edward appeared. I gave him a death glare, and he swallowed and mouthed, sorry, but I wasn't buying that.
“Isla, baby, go play with George.”
“They're here?” Edward nodded. I haven't seen Bailey in like two weeks, and I miss her. “Go, play, honey.” I set Isla down and ran off. “No running, you'll fall.”
“Okay, mummy.” Her voice was distant.
“Finally, I have you all to myself,” Edward said flirtatiously as he moved closer to me. “You have some nerve, mister.”
“Oh, come on, baby, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make her cry.” His hands went around my waist, pulling me closer to his body. He started leaving soft kisses around my neck and collarbone.
“Mmmhn you smell so good, all the time.” He whispered in my ear.”
“Babe, what are you doing? What if the kids see?”
“Come on, love, I've missed you so much.”
“That's what you always say.”
“I can't help that I'm addicted to my wife's body. You're just so mesmerising, you keep on pulling me even though I'm already glued to you. Are you a witch by any chance?”
I chuckled lightly and shoved him off. He smirked and spanked my ass, making me gasp. “Ed.” He shrugged and smiled as we left to meet Bailey.
These past couple of years have been the best in my life, being with the people I love. I'm pregnant, but I want to surprise Edward, so u won't tell him now.
Bailey always comes over to help when I need it. She's literally become my best friend. And Edward? He actually shows his love instead of bottling it up, and yes, he's still a sex addict but without the sadism. He has stopped all those kinky sex things. Now we just make love all the time.
I've never been happier, and I wouldn't trade it for the world. Finally, I have something to live for.
I guess the lemonade served instead of the lemons wasn't so bad after all.
