Chapter 55 Chapter 55

Chapter 55 Chapter 55
RUBY

"Are you not okay with this?" Sebastian said softly as he studied my face.

"Of course... I'm okay. Lizzy got what she deserved," I flashed a small smile. From the corner of my eye, I could see Cassie staring at us before she focused back on her phone.

I wasn’t sure if I was truly okay with Lizzy leaving the school, considering her mother’s situation. I didn't know the specifics of her health condition, but from what I’d heard, she had been suffering for a long time.

Maybe a different punishment would have been better than expulsion.

"She will serve as a lesson to anyone else who dares to treat you like shit. And if she tries anything after this, I'll do worse than what she got now," Sebastian cupped my face in his hands. His jaw clenched, and I could tell he wasn’t just punishing Lizzy for what she did to me, he had his own reasons for wanting her gone.

But could Lizzy really hate Sebastian for no reason?

He had told me to be careful around her but...

Could it be that Sebastian was hiding something from me?

'Stop fking my lips with your eyes. If you want me, just tell me.'

His voice slipped through the mindlink, snapping me out of my thoughts so fast that I flinched. I hadn’t even realized I’d been staring at his lips.

"Sebastian!" I gasped, shoving him a step back, my face burning.

He chuckled, clearly enjoying my reaction.

Glancing at Cassie, I met her gaze

"What am I missing?" she looked from me to Sebastian.

"Nothing," I replied, almost snapping at her.

She raised an eyebrow, clearly not believing me.

She was about to say something when my phone rang beside her on the bed. She picked it up and handed it to me.

My heart skipped a beat when I saw Luna Scarlett on the screen.

I looked up at Sebastian before answering the call.

"Hello"

"Hello, my daughter. I was worried about you. When I called your phone, it kept saying it was unreachable, so I had to call Sebastian. He told me you're okay now. How are you feeling?"

Luna Scarlett’s voice was filled with concern, and I found myself relaxing in her motherly tone that always had that effect on me.

"I'm fine now. Thank you, Mother," I told her, feeling her relief. I had stopped calling her Luna since she asked me to call her Mother.

"Good to hear that from you. I'll make sure that girl never steps foot in this pack again."

I could tell she was really angry about what happened, especially when she spoke about Lizzy and how she had pushed for her expulsion.

After the call ended, I could feel a strange mix of emotions swirling inside me.

"Lizzy isn’t leaving because of you. She’s leaving because of what she did. Actions have consequences," my wolf whispered. I agreed with her.

"You should eat something. I guess Noelle will be done with whatever she's preparing soon." Sebastian said.

I nodded, tucking my phone into my sweatpants pocket.

As we stepped out, Sebastian reached out to grab my hand.

Hearing Cassie growl behind us, I glanced over my shoulder to see her focused still on her phone.

I wondered who she was chatting with.

As we walked down the stairs, Robert was sitting on the couch, also glued to his phone. As soon as he heard our footsteps, he looked up.

"How are you feeling, Ruby?" Robert asked when we approached him.

"I'm fine. Thank you." I offered a small smile as Sebastian and I settled on the couch across from him.

But I didn’t miss the sharp look Cassie shot Robert when he patted the empty seat next to him.

"Sit here," Robert told Cassie.

"I'm not a baby that you can tell where to sit," Cassie growled.

Robert arched a brow, clearly amused. "Relax, Cassandra. I was just being nice."

Cassie scowled. "I told you not to call me that. My name is Cassie. Cassie!"

Robert chuckled. "Fine, fine. Cassie. Come and sit by me," he said, but Cassie ignored him and sat on the other side, rolling her eyes.

"Come on, Cassie," Robert whined. "At least thank me for driving you here."

Cassie shot him a glare. "Thank you? You’re lucky I didn’t throw you out of the car on the way here!"

Sebastian burst into laughter, shaking his head at them. I found myself laughing too, watching them argue like kids.

Just then, Noelle came to tell us she had finished setting up the table, and we walked over to take our seats. Cassie and I sat across from Sebastian and Robert.

"Coach Brody just said in the group chat that we should come in earlier tomorrow for practice before the game against Marie Hill College," Sebastian said, glancing up from his phone.

"Do we really have to practice tomorrow? What happened to the ones we've been having for a month?" Robert muttered, swallowing a bite of food.

Sebastian smirked. "You're underestimating them."

Robert scoffed. "They’ve never been as good as us on the ice, and you know that. We’ve beaten them more than once. This time won’t be any different—they're still going to lose." Then, as if remembering something, he turned to me. "Hey, Ruby. You should come watch us tomorrow. I'm pretty sure the guys will be happy to see our future Luna around."

I nodded slightly, but I couldn't ignore the nerves fluttering in my stomach.

"You should bring Cassandra with you," Robert added.

Cassie let out a low growl. "I'm not Cassandra."

"Oh yeah. Cassie," Robert quickly corrected himself. "I know you'll love watching me on the ice," he added, smirking.

"I’d rather eat dirt than sit through a hockey game just to watch you," she muttered, as if she had never been interested in hockey. Although, ever since Sebastian was supposedly my mate, she hadn’t talked about going to the games like before.

If she ever found out that Sebastian and I weren’t actually mates, it would hurt her. I wished I could tell her the truth, but Goddess, I didn’t even know where to start. I had lied to her. And to Aiden.

Robert gasped dramatically. "Cassie, that’s hurtful."

Cassie gave him a flat look. "Good."

I chuckled. "We’re coming together."

"And to the Sweaty night,"

"What’s Sweaty night?" I asked, furrowing my brows as I looked from him to Sebastian. Then at Cassie, who seemed to understand what he meant.

I guessed I was the only one who didn’t know.

"Sweaty night is what we call our night party. Whenever we win, we throw a party to celebrate..." Robert started explaining.

"by having threesomes," Cassie cut in, rolling her eyes as she stabbed her fork into her food.

"I don’t do that... That’s Sebastian," Robert said, and I glanced up at Sebastian, catching the brief flicker of discomfort in his eyes before he masked it.

"Hey. That isn’t happening this time. I have a mate now, and I’ll be spending the night with her," Sebastian smiled.

"Ruby must know your every favorite position by now." Robert's amused eyes met mine, and I felt my face heat instantly.

"Shut up, man." Sebastian shot Robert a warning look.

Robert only laughed. "Relax, dude. I’m just saying..."

"Can you let us eat in peace without your dirty talk?" Cassie glared at him.
