Chapter 34-3

“Tori. She…” Claire stopped and closed her mouth. Heath gave her another confused look as a different plot quickly flashed through Claire’s mind. Now that Heath was awake, he could help her with her revenge on Logan. Once he found out that his father had been interrupting their quiet life on purpose, Heath would probably be just as confused as Claire. But that also meant he would be willing to help with her plot. Then again…was Heath the type who got revenge? Claire thought about it for a moment before she decided to just tell him. Even if he didn’t want to be a part of the plot, he couldn’t stop her. That old man wasn’t going to get out of this without any consequences. “You have a lot of stuff to catch up to.” Claire said and Heath raised a curious brow. “Should we go to the top floor? I’ll tell you about everything you’ve missed while you were in your coma.” >>>>><<<<< When they got to the top floor, Heath first dismissed himself to clean up since he hadn’t taken a shower or shaved in days. Claire waited patiently in the living room as he finished before he came to sit next to her on the couch. Then she went ahead and told him all that had happened. Even though Claire said she would keep Julia’s secret to herself, she couldn’t do that with Heath. It was needed in her explanation and she doubted that Heath would reveal the secret to Logan. So she told him about Julia and her story. Of course, like Claire expected, Heath was shocked that his father had actually been the one pulling all the strings between the two of them and Julia had just been one of the puppets in his plan. Claire also told him about her plan to get some payback from Logan, which was why Tori was taking pictures using Julia’s phone. When she finished, Heath sighed. “He’s always like that.” “What?” “My father. He’s always testing the women I’m in a relationship with.” Claire blinked in surprise. “You mean this isn’t the first time Logan’s done this?” “I haven’t been in a steady relationship for years, so I had forgotten that he likes to bother the women I go out with. Every time I ask him why he did so, he never tells me and just brushes it off while calling himself a doting father.” Heath gave Claire a look that said he didn’t believe a word of it. “He won’t say more than that.” “What sort of things did he do in the past?” Heath thought about it for a moment. “Sometimes, he’s secretive about it, other times, he’s bold in his confrontations. One time, he sent another man to seduce my girlfriend. Another time with another girlfriend, he approached her and asked if she was dating me because of the money.” Claire was tempted to ask what happened to them, but she thought maybe Heath’s exes weren’t any of her business. But Heath surprisingly told her about the results. “The seduction of another guy worked and my girlfriend openly flirted with another guy. As for the other one, she said she was dating me because she loved me, not for the power or money. But she kept on hinting at me that she wanted a designer bag for her birthday. In the end, all I bought her was flowers and an inexpensive necklace to test her.” Heath chuckled at the memory. “She got mad and broke it off with me.” From his words and light attitude of testing the woman, Claire realized that Logan and Heath weren’t actually that different from each other as she originally thought. Then again, Logan did raise Heath, so he must’ve picked up some stuff from his father. “This is the first time he’s been so…conniving though. He’s never put in this much effort before.” “Great.” Claire said flatly. “I guess that makes me special, huh?” Heath looked at Claire and she couldn’t read him. They stared at each other for a few more seconds before a smile broke out on Heath’s face. “Yeah.” He admitted. “You are.” She didn’t know what to make of his words so she just slowly looked away. “Anyway. Are you going to help me, or am I going to get revenge on my own?” He pursed his lips. “What do I get out of this if I help you?” Claire gave him a look from the corner of her eyes and answered in an obvious tone, “Revenge. Against your own dad. That sounds fun enough on its own, don’t you think?” Heath smirked and she felt wary from it. “I can think of a few other fun things that you can reward me with once this is over.” “Like what?” He moved towards her and placed his hand on the other side of her head before he whispered into her ear. Claire immediately blushed from the first word as he continued to whisper his suggestions in exchange for his help. When he finished, he pulled back and stared into Claire’s flushed face. Her innocent reactions amused Heath, since he never expected her to be the kind to easily blush from the topic of love. “Fine.” She sighed with exasperation through clenched teeth. “Now listen up. Once I’m done telling you everything, call Logan over and we’ll get things started.”
