Chapter 34-2

Again, she flushed all over again and Claire pushed him away. “That kind! The cheesy, romantic kind!” Then she rubbed on the spot that Heath had tickled using the tip of his nose with the back of her hand. “You’re making me itch!” “You’re trying to change the subject.” Heath said as he grabbed hold of her wrist. Then he tugged her back to his chest again as he wrapped his arms around her. “But I guess I can figure it out from your actions.” Claire wriggled from his hold. “You’re being awfully physical.” She pointed out as she felt his hands slowly creep down her back. “I haven’t touched you in a long time. I think it’s only understandable.” Immediately, before his hands could reach their destination, Claire reached back and grabbed his wrists, stopping him. Heath stared down at her with seductive eyes. “In fact, we should be more physical than this. Don’t you remember what we discussed before I left?” Oh, Claire remembered. She could recall their exact conversation about a certain topic. However, she was doing her best not to since they were supposed to be having a very grim and serious talk about Clarissa. He had done a good job of distracting her though…and reassuring her. Claire couldn’t help but be a little wary. “What do you love about me?” She realized that she had changed the topic once more. Heath noticed that as well, but he let it slide. “I don’t think a lot of people realize it, since you’re always acting like the mature, responsible general manager around here…but you’re cute.” Claire gave him a flat look and he chuckled. “You are. Remember our first meeting?” She hissed. “You don’t have to remind me.” Claire was in the daycare…pretending to barf with her niece and nephew. And Heath had seen the whole thing. He chuckled from the memory. “You were cute. And I also love how naturally you interact with kids. It makes me think that you’ll be a great mother once you have kids of your own.” Claire gave him a look. “You’re kind of getting a little ahead of yourself.” “Am I?” he raised a curious brow. “Does it scare you, how far in the future I’ve been thinking?” “It doesn’t scare me at all. It’s just that you’re making yourself come off as a cocky bastard. That’s not really a good thing, especially since we haven’t seen each other in a long time. You’re almost like a different person.” Heath didn’t blink as he said, “Any guy would behave differently when he catches his girlfriend hugging another man.” He took out his personal cellphone as Claire stared at him in confusion. Heath brought up the photo and showed it to Claire. “Care to explain this?” Claire stared at it with shock before she looked up into Heath’s eyes. “Are you mad?” “Should I be mad?” “No.” she said. “But I guess I could understand if you were. I’d be pretty mad too if I saw you in the same position.” Heath sighed. “Just as I understand why you’d be mad when I called Clarissa’s name.” He sympathized with her, and she nodded her head in understanding. Then Claire went on to explain the situation to Heath about Wyatt’s father and how the events unfolded to form the picture on his cellphone. Heath’s face was blank as he listened, but at the end of her story, he accepted her explanation. “Fine.” He simply said. “I’m glad we got over Julia’s irritating obstacles.” That reminded Claire… She snatched the phone out of Heath’s hand and he watched her with curiosity as she went to his text messages and saw the message that came from Julia’s phone recently. There were some others from her and Claire assumed that Heath hadn’t seen them either. They were the ones that contained the photos of her with Simon. When she opened the recent text, it was so obvious to Claire that Julia hadn’t sent it—even if she didn’t know that the woman was now long gone. “Heath…” Claire said before she showed him the text message. “Did you seriously not recognize this?” He raised a confused brow before reading the text message. CLAIRE IS CHEATING ON U!!! Claire saw as realization slowly appeared on Heath’s face and she couldn’t help but laugh at his expression. Heath took the phone back into his hand and stared at the message, as if he couldn’t believe that it was really there. The other messages that Julia sent never contained text talk. The huge U stood out too much. Along with the all caps. “Julia didn’t send this.” “Obviously.” Claire snorted. He had seen the message when he first woke up, so perhaps his mind hadn’t processed everything as well as he thought. His jealously also probably blinded him as well. Otherwise, he would’ve noticed that the tone of the message was nothing like Julia’s. Heath stared at Claire. “Then who did?”
