Chapter 165 Steven Buys Pajamas for Nora
"Philip..." Bianca was in so much pain that tears were about to fall. She wanted to gain Philip's sympathy.
Philip didn't even glance at her and went straight back to Brilliant Star.
Bianca was left standing there alone. She glared at Steven and Nora as they walked away, her heart filled with hatred.
Nora, I will never forget the humiliation you gave me today!
If I ever get the chance, I'll make you pay twice over!
In the Audi, Steven had James go buy medicine, then glared coldly at Nora.
Nora felt a bit panicked under his stare and didn't dare look up.
"Why didn't you tell me you were shipping packages from Philip's company?" Steven's cold gaze shot over.
"I didn't hide it from you. I told you I was at Harman Tower." She lowered her lashes, her voice soft, not daring to breathe too heavily.
The next second, her arm was pulled, and she was sitting on Steven's lap.
Nora panicked, "Steven..."
Nora was only wearing a dress, pressed against his body heat, feeling a bit scared.
Steven stared at her, "Why are you avoiding my eyes?"
"I'm afraid you're angry," Nora told the truth.
"Why are you afraid I'm angry?" He raised an eyebrow, his gaze even colder - it was because she had lied.
"I know you care about Philip, but I made it clear in front of him that you and I are married. He saw it too." Nora explained quietly.
Steven grabbed her chin, "Then why did you smile at him just now?"
"He just helped explain the misunderstanding. I had to thank him."
"No need." Steven's tone was harsh. "Don't go to his company to ship packages anymore."
Steven didn't like Nora seeking help from other men.
"I have no choice. Only big companies have discounted shipping channels. If I ship on my own, it's much more expensive and not worth it. Plus, if I ship myself, I'd have to contact logistics companies. For just one package, it becomes really troublesome."
"So you'd rather owe someone a favor?" Steven glared at her.
"But that's how everyone in the market does it. What's wrong with relying on others for convenience when you don't have the resources? When you're out there, don't you have to rely on friends? Besides, when starting a business, you need to know how to get along with people. Otherwise, if you offend everyone, how can you do business?"
Steven looked at Nora and saw that her attitude was quite sincere, so his anger subsided a bit.
Steven suggested to Nora, "Why don't you start your own company? Didn't you say before you wanted to partner with Olivia?"
"Yes, but we have to wait for Olivia to get divorced and get the money before we can set up the company." Nora sat obediently in his arms, looking at his handsome face. "Actually, there's no rush right now. My business license just came through this morning. Tomorrow I'll register the new store. The review takes a few days, and then I have to upload products. By the time all this is done, it'll be at least half a month."
Nora's plan was to complete these tasks at home first. After all, renting office space was expensive. Working from home now would save on rent. Plus, without promotion, the store wouldn't have any business after uploading products anyway, so working from home was more than enough.
Steven watched Nora's clean hand drawing circles on his chest and glanced at her, "What are you doing? Trying to seduce me?"
Nora's face turned slightly red, "No, I'm not."
"Here, this is for you." Steven suddenly picked up two gift bags and handed them to her.
"What is it?" One large bag and one small bag. She opened the small one first - it was gold.
"What's this? Gold?" Nora looked surprised.
Steven coughed twice, "About yesterday."
So it was an apology gift.
Nora smiled. Steven now knew to take the initiative to buy things.
Steven said, "Didn't you say gold holds its value? These are investment-grade gold bars from the bank, perfect for collecting. No markup or processing fees."
Very suitable for this money lover.
She liked gold not to wear, but to collect. Steven simply bought gold bars for her.
Nora quite liked it, turning it over and examining it, "I didn't even know there was this kind of gold bar. First time hearing about it. I'll buy this kind too from now on."
"What's in the other bag?" After looking at the gold bar, Nora looked at the other bag.
"Is it pajamas?" Nora saw a robe. As she reached in to pull it out, an extremely sexy, sheer nightgown that had been wrapped in the robe fell out.
Nora quickly picked it up, her whole face turning bright red.
"You!" Nora glared at him through gritted teeth. "Why did you buy this?"
"This morning when I saw you in your underwear, I thought you probably needed this kind of nightgown." Steven's hand caressed her waist.
For some reason, Nora felt his hand was burning hot.
Her body also felt inexplicably warm. Her mouth dry, she retorted, "Who needs it? I would never buy this."
"I know. You need it but are too embarrassed to buy it, so I bought it for you." Steven looked at her with amusement in his eyes.
"I don't need it!"
"Wear it for me tonight." Steven held Nora, changing the subject.
Nora also looked at him.
The moment their eyes met, Nora shyly lowered her gaze, but the next second, he cupped her face and kissed her.
Steven kissed her somewhat urgently, wishing he could make love to her right there in the car.
Nora couldn't help but cry out. She was still sitting on Steven, being kissed, until she kept retreating like a helpless little rabbit.
Just then, James knocked on the car window. "Mr. York, I've bought the medicine."
The two people in the car fell silent.
Nora quickly climbed off, straightening her hair.
Steven's eyes looked like they wanted to kill James. He said to Nora, "Turn your head toward me."
Steven was going to open the window and didn't want James to see Nora's flushed face.
"Why?"
"You look too tempting right now, understand?"
Nora awkwardly turned her head toward him; even her ears were red.
Steven pressed Nora's head against his chest, lowered the window, and looked at James with a dark expression.
James was startled, "What's wrong?"
Nora lay on Steven's shoulder, not daring to move.
"Nothing, you can go back." Steven took the medicine and told him to leave quickly.
"Okay." James didn't think much of it and left.
Nora heard him leave, and her heartbeat slowly calmed down. Being caught doing such things was indeed very embarrassing.
"Lift your face." Steven opened the ointment.
Nora knew he was going to apply medicine to her and slightly raised her small face.
Steven used a cotton swab to apply some medicine. "Your face is always getting injured."
"Fortunately, none of them were serious." Nora smiled sweetly, her eyes sparkling. "By the way, James knows how to fight?"
Just now, she saw James restrain Bianca in one move - clearly someone who knew how to fight.
Steven paused slightly, then said casually, "Yes, he likes to practice boxing in his spare time."
"No wonder. I could tell his fighting skills were very good."
"You could also sign up for a fighting class," Steven suggested. "It builds strength, and you can protect yourself."
"I don't have time right now. Maybe later."
After applying the medicine, the two moved to the front, with Steven driving and Nora eating snacks.
Now Steven's car was always stocked with snacks in case Nora got hungry.
"These snacks are all delicious." It was getting late, and Nora was hungry. "What are we eating tonight?"
"Celestial Dining." A very famous restaurant. Steven said, "Check if you have any coupons."
Nora rummaged through her bag - the last time Steven had given her five or six coupons.
"I do have one!" After finding it, Nora was quite happy. "Although eating for free feels great, sometimes I feel a bit embarrassed."
Nora still cared a bit about dignity.
Steven smiled and said, "It's fine. These restaurants are all partners with our company. They gave them to us to please us anyway. They're happy when we come to eat."
"Really?" Nora just felt a bit embarrassed eating free gourmet food and enjoying their service.
"Yes." Steven agreed and drove the car to Celestial Dining.
The two got out of the car. Steven stood waiting for Nora to come over.
Sure enough, Nora immediately came over and linked her arm through Steven's. She really liked being close to him.
Steven smiled slightly and led her inside.
As they passed through the lobby, Nora pointed at a table and grabbed Steven's sleeve, "Steven, it's Olivia!"
Steven looked over. There were many tables in the lobby. Olivia was sitting at one of them, with Willie and Eleanor sitting across from her.
Nora immediately felt a bit nervous. "That evil Eleanor is here too. No way, I have to go over and check, in case Olivia gets bullied by them again."
"Okay." Steven went with her.
"Olivia." Nora walked over.
Olivia looked up and saw Nora and Steven coming.
Willie and Eleanor also looked over. Willie had already met Steven.
Eleanor was meeting Steven for the first time. She thought Steven had excellent bearing - clearly very cultured.
"Mom, that's Nora's husband," Willie spoke first, smiling. "Steven, Nora, hello."
Willie and Eleanor had come to persuade Olivia not to divorce.
Nora ignored Willie's smiling face and looked at Olivia, "Olivia, why did you come out to eat with them?"
"They said they wanted to discuss the divorce and asked me to meet them at the restaurant. " Olivia answered. "I happened to run into you two. Join us."
Olivia felt divorce was a big deal. Since her parents weren't here to support her, having Nora and Steven present was reassuring.
In case there was anything unfavorable to her, having two more people present could help her think things through.
"Okay." Nora pulled Steven to sit down.
Willie and Eleanor's expressions became a bit unnatural. They actually weren't here to divorce - they just used divorce as an excuse to trick Olivia into coming out.
Their goal was to coax her into changing her mind, but Olivia directly said she was here to discuss the divorce.
Steven sat down elegantly. He also planned to listen to how Willie's family usually talked.
