Chapter 133 Nora Actually Bought Him a Gift!
Steven laughed when he heard what Nora said.
Nora loaded up the nutritional supplements, then went to the bedroom to pack her own clothes.
Seeing how she was preparing, Steven could tell she was planning to move to the hospital to stay with Olivia. He leaned against the doorframe, frowning. "Are you planning to live at the hospital?"
"Yeah, I'll keep Olivia company for a few days. I'm bringing my laptop too." Nora was packing everything she needed.
"You're not coming back these next few days?"
"Probably not."
Steven's mood sank.
As Nora was packing, she suddenly noticed the red jewelry box in the drawer - the little gold rabbit and little gold pig she had bought. After thinking for a moment, she took out the little gold pig, walked over to Steven, and held it in her fist.
"Open your hand," she said with a smile.
Steven had given her a phone this morning, so she wanted to give him a gift too!
Steven looked confused. "What for?"
"Just open your hand!" she urged him.
Steven had no choice but to open his hand.
"Palm up."
Steven realized she was going to give him something and smiled slightly, turning his palm upward.
Nora placed her fist over his hand.
She opened her hand, and something cool dropped into Steven's palm.
Steven looked down and saw a little gold pig. His eyes showed surprise. "What's this?"
"A little gold pig," Nora said, a bit shyly. "This is for you."
After saying this, she looked at him.
Steven stared at the little gold pig in his palm without speaking.
The atmosphere grew quiet.
Nora felt uncomfortable and turned to go to the bathroom to pack toiletries, but Steven grabbed her hand and pulled her back into his arms.
Nora cried out in surprise, already held firmly in his embrace.
His light eyes looked at her as he asked softly, "You're giving this to me?"
"Yes." Nora felt inexplicably shy under his gaze.
"That night when you used the card, you were actually buying this?" She had spent that much money buying him a gift?
"And this one too." Nora showed him her little gold rabbit. "The rabbit was $3,000, and the pig was over $4,000. I especially picked a nicer one for you."
The total of over seven thousand dollars matched up perfectly.
Nora added, "But the pig is my gift to you; I didn't use your money. The clerk accidentally charged the wrong card that day, so I transferred the four thousand plus dollars back to your account."
Steven opened his phone and looked.
Sure enough, there were two transfers - one for over four thousand dollars, and one for two thousand dollars.
The transfer of over four thousand dollars was made the same night she had charged over seven thousand dollars.
Steven froze.
He hadn't expected this...
He hadn't checked his messages before, so he didn't know Nora had transferred money to him.
His heart ached inexplicably. Steven looked into her eyes. "You were actually willing to give me such a nice gift?"
Steven hadn't expected that someone as thrifty as her would be willing to buy him a gift worth over four thousand dollars.
Nora said quietly, "You've given me gold twice, too. I made some money, so I wanted to buy you something."
She was just the type who, when she saw something nice, wanted to buy it for her husband.
He was her husband, after all.
When you like someone, you keep them in your heart.
Steven was genuinely touched.
His heart was in turmoil.
If a rich girl had given him this gift, he might have scoffed at it.
But he knew Nora's financial situation well - she only had that much in savings, yet she was willing to buy him such expensive gold. She must have spent a lot of money.
Steven suddenly hugged her tighter.
The force was so strong it almost squeezed the life out of her!
Nora frowned. "Steven, you're holding too tight!"
"Thank you for the gift. I really like it." Steven looked at the little gold pig in his hand, his expression very gentle.
She was quite clever too, always picking things that came in pairs - she picked matching scarves, and matching gold pieces too.
Steven found her little schemes very cute.
Nora said with a smile, "I have good taste, right? Buying gold is the best investment. If we ever need cash in the future, we can sell it!"
Steven's face darkened. "That last part wasn't necessary."
Every time he felt touched, she had to ruin the moment.
Besides, with his wealth, he had enough money to last several lifetimes. How could he possibly end up having to sell jewelry?
He put away the little gold pig, in a pretty good mood.
Seeing that he seemed to really like it, Nora was also very happy.
She continued packing, bringing all her toiletries, and ended up with a whole suitcase, like she was moving house.
Steven glanced at it and couldn't help asking again, "You're really not coming back these next few days?"
"I need to keep Olivia company. Most importantly, I need to help her feel better." Nora was changing shoes in the entryway.
Steven felt irritated and suddenly moved closer, holding her waist and embracing her.
He pressed against her.
His belt buckle brushed against her waist.
Nora's whole body stiffened.
"Steven, what are you doing!" She was bending over to change shoes when he suddenly came up to her - it was too startling!
"If you don't come back, the house will be so empty. I'm not used to it." He couldn't bring himself to say sentimental words like "I'll miss you," so he changed his phrasing.
"Now you finally understand how I felt those days when you left me at home, right?" Nora held his hand and stood up.
Steven wouldn't let her, taking another step forward and pressing her against the shoe cabinet, his chest against her back.
Nora's body trembled.
This guy!
Was he getting aroused in broad daylight?
She turned her head to talk to him, and then was kissed.
The kiss was lingering and passionate.
Her lips were sweet and soft.
Steven kissed her greedily, as if reluctant to let go, as if attached, his hand slipping into her clothes, caressing her body freely...
The temperature of his palm was burning hot like fire.
Nora couldn't take it, her body shrinking back.
Steven wanted to carry her to the sofa.
Nora pressed down on his hand. "No, we can't delay any longer. We need to go to the hospital."
Her body was soft, and once he held her he wouldn't let go, his eyes gazing at her deeply, filled with heat and desire.
Nora's face flushed, but she still refused. "Please, we really need to go to the hospital. Stop it."
Steven's breathing was heavy. He caressed her a few more times through the fabric before releasing her slender body.
"When you come back in a few days, you need to keep me company." His voice was hoarse to the extreme.
Nora understood very clearly what this "keep me company" meant.
Her face turned red with embarrassment, especially since just now, he had deliberately caressed her a few times.
That dangerous, invasive feeling seemed to linger around her even after they left the house, not fading for a long time...
Sure enough, a newly married man's mind was full of thoughts about his wife!
Sitting in the car on the way to the hospital, Nora thought about their first time making love. Although it was enjoyable, it had really hurt.
It had only been three or four days since then.
Nora had only felt back to normal these past two days. If it took two or three days to recover from making love once, how could she handle it?
Thinking about this, she didn't even dare look at him, instinctively avoiding his gaze.
She was a bit scared.
But Olivia had said that newly married men were just like this.
The more Nora thought about it, the redder her face became.
She was really afraid he would keep her in bed, unable to get up.
When they arrived at the hospital, she was still in a daze, thinking about what to do in a few days.
"What are you thinking about?" A man's voice sounded in her ear.
Nora snapped back to reality and realized they had arrived at the hospital.
"Nothing." Her face was flushed, beautiful, and alluring.
Steven glanced at her, feeling that with that look, she was seducing him. Those eyes were dewy, especially charming and attractive.
"Why do I feel like you're regretting what happened earlier?" Steven said as he unbuckled his seatbelt.
"Regretting what?"
"Regretting that we didn't make love in the entryway just now." Steven's eyes were burning.
"Don't talk nonsense." Nora's ears turned red.
Steven leaned over and kissed her soft lips. "If you regret it, I'll satisfy you when we get back tonight."
Nora's heart raced. She didn't dare stay with him any longer - he was such a sex maniac!
She turned and got out of the car.
Steven followed, helping her with the luggage.
Watching Nora's fleeing figure ahead, he smiled with pleasure.
She used to think Steven was a cold person - after all, he was cold to everyone.
But Nora hadn't expected that after they made love, Steven would constantly want to lure her to bed.
Not only was Nora's face hot, her heart was in chaos too.
Marriage was really complicated - sometimes it made you so sad, sometimes it made you so happy.
The two of them went up to the hospital room.
Olivia was arranged in the hospital's recovery area, with meal delivery service every day.
Entering the room, Nora thought the design looked like a luxury hotel.
There was a kitchenette, bathroom, smart toilet, a large bed, plus a dining table, TV, and computer desk. It could definitely accommodate two people.
Alton was in the room at the moment.
He sat elegantly on the sofa, talking to Olivia.
Olivia was leaning against the light pink bed, and they were discussing Willow's case.
Alton said gently, "I'll handle it for you and pursue it to the end. At minimum, she can be sentenced to 3-10 years in prison."
"Thank you." Olivia had always thought Alton was helping her because Steven had asked him to, so she didn't think much of it.
Actually, Steven didn't know about this.
Nora walked in and let out a soft "wow." "Mr. Bridges, your hospital has such great facilities!"
She couldn't help but marvel - it was designed very warmly, staying here wouldn't make you feel as anxious and uneasy as in a regular hospital room.
Alton smiled. "This was originally designed for a family to stay together."
"It really is very nice." She praised.
After chatting for a while, Steven had to go to the office, and Alton walked him out.
The two equally tall and handsome men walked down the corridor.
Steven raised an eyebrow and asked him, "Why are you helping Olivia with this?"
"I felt sorry for her, so I'm helping," Alton said matter-of-factly.
Steven laughed. "You're the type to overflow with sympathy?"
"Life is boring. It's nice to help others occasionally." Alton said lightly.
Steven lifted his eyelids. "You think I believe that?"
"If you don't believe it, forget it."
While waiting for the elevator, Steven asked him, "How's the investigation into Willie going?"
Alton had one hand in his pocket and shook his head. "I don't know if he has a lot going on at home lately or if he's noticed someone following him, but he hasn't been going out with Hazel. Can't get any solid evidence."
Actually, proving infidelity was very difficult. Even if you photographed them in bed, the other party could argue that the photos were "obtained through improper means" and request that the court not admit them as evidence. So even if you got bed photos, it would only confirm the affair.
The elevator arrived.
Alton said casually, "You go ahead, busy man."
"You're not leaving?"
"I've been staying at the hospital lately." This hospital belonged to Alton - he mainly worked in the medical and legal fields.
Hearing this, Steven smiled meaningfully and left.
