Chapter 13 Wearing the Wedding Ring

Chapter 13 Wearing the Wedding Ring

Elizabeth said, "You've been married to Steven for three months now, but I haven't had the proper chance to welcome Nora into our family as my granddaughter-in-law. Let's fix that today!"

"Lally, go to the kitchen and get some snacks and milk ready."

"Sure thing, ma'am!" Lally was about to head to the kitchen when she noticed that milk was already set on the table. She grabbed it first, then realized there were no ingredients for snacks in the fridge, so she went out to buy some.

Nora found Steven's cufflink in the bathroom.

It was pretty fancy.

She held it in her hand and walked out, "Steven, I found your cufflink. I left it on the toilet paper holder in the bathroom."

"Thanks," Steven replied, taking the cufflink from her.

Their hands brushed against each other.

Nora pulled her hand back quickly, as if she'd been burned, her face turning red.

"What are you doing?" Steven looked at her, puzzled by her reaction.

"Nothing!"

Meeting his gaze, Nora felt embarrassed.

Why did she react like that?

It was just a normal interaction!

Elizabeth and Lally stood nearby, laughing.

"They look so good together," Elizabeth said to Lally, her smile meaningful.

Nora felt even more embarrassed and glanced at Steven.

His expression remained indifferent, as always.

"Nora, come over here," Elizabeth called her over.

Steven was also summoned.

Elizabeth quietly threatened him, "If you don't do as I say, I'll spill your secret!"

"What secret?" Steven scoffed.

"Your identity as a member of the York family!" Elizabeth said coolly.

Steven reluctantly nodded.

Elizabeth then said, "In our family, we have a tradition. When someone new joins the family, we always have a special moment to welcome them and offer our blessings."

Nora felt a bit nervous but kept a smile on her face.

Elizabeth asked Lally to pour the milk into three glasses and handed them to Nora and Steven. She then said, "Initially, I wanted Lally to make some snacks and milk, but Nora knew I was coming and prepared the milk in advance. She must have wanted to share this sweet moment with me."

Elizabeth took the milk from Lally and said, "Thank you, Nora. It means a lot to me. Sharing food is one of the best ways to bring a family together."

Nora realized it was the milk she had made that morning!

Feeling a bit embarrassed, she thought it was awkward that the milk for this family's welcome ceremony was something she had prepared herself.

Compared to Nora's embarrassment, Steven appeared calm and composed.

Elizabeth drank the milk and smiled, "Nora, from today on, you are Steven's wife. Work hard and try to have a baby soon!"

The sudden comment made Nora blush.

But Steven was keeping his distance from her like she was a wolf; how could it be that easy?

Lally then opened a gift box she had brought that morning, revealing several pieces of jewelry.

Necklaces, bracelets, earrings, rings, and a white watch, all adorned with diamonds that dazzled.

"Nora, since you married Steven, he hasn't bought you any jewelry yet. So, I'm giving you a set now!" Elizabeth smiled as she pushed the jewelry toward Nora.

This set of jewelry was bought at a jewelry store yesterday and was quite inexpensive!

The more expensive piece was the watch.

Another set of jade jewelry was kept for Nora for the future.

"No, thank you, Grandma. I have to go to work often, so I wouldn't be able to wear these," Nora glanced at the jewelry, feeling it was too valuable, and declined.

"Whether you wear them or not, I have to give them to you. Every married girl in this family has them, so you should, too. Just keep them, okay?" Elizabeth felt a bit awkward giving such inexpensive jewelry, and seeing Nora refuse repeatedly, she thought Nora was quite humble.

"This?" Nora turned to look at Steven.

"Grandma's giving them to you, so they're yours now. Just accept them," Steven said.

"Well... thank you, Grandma." Nora accepted the jewelry, surprised that three months after their wedding, Steven's family was making up for the gifts and jewelry.

Nora thought Steven's family was very kind.

She felt a warmth and sweetness in her heart.

Elizabeth took her hand and put a diamond bracelet on her wrist, "Wear them, Nora. Since Grandma gave them to you, don't hide them. Your fair skin looks beautiful with diamonds."

"Okay," Nora agreed obediently, putting on the diamond bracelet.

It was really beautiful!

Nora had never bought jewelry before, and this was her first time wearing it. She couldn't take her eyes off it.

The sparkling diamonds made her skin look even more delicate.

No girl could resist these; they were so beautiful.

Steven couldn't help but take another look. The diamonds indeed suited her, giving her an indescribable elegance and charm.

Elizabeth also thought Nora had a wonderful presence.

Nora put on the other pieces of jewelry.

Finally, there was only a one-carat diamond ring left.

Nora was about to reach for it when Elizabeth took it and handed it to Steven, "You put the ring on your wife's finger."

Nora's heart skipped a beat, feeling a bit flustered.

Such an intimate gesture, he would surely refuse, right? After all, people were watching!

To her surprise, he accepted it without hesitation.

Nora's eyes widened as he picked up the ring!

Was he really going to put it on her finger in front of Elizabeth?

Nora saw Elizabeth and Lally smiling, feeling a bit awkward.

"Give me your hand," Steven said.

Nora was very nervous.

She hastily extended her right hand, but when Steven was about to put the ring on, she quickly pulled it back.

Steven's face changed slightly, looked at her.

He rarely lowered himself to put a ring on her, and she pulled her hand back.

Nora's face turned redder than a tomato. "Sorry, I gave you the wrong hand!"

She just remembered that wedding rings should be worn on the left hand, but she had extended her right hand!

She timidly extended her left hand.

Elizabeth and Lally, on the couch, were about to burst out laughing. This Nora was so adorable and amusing!

Steven slipped the diamond ring onto her ring finger, the size fitting perfectly.

He curled his lips slightly, "Just right."

It looked really good.

Nora seemed a bit dazed, "Thank you..."

She caught herself in time.

Elizabeth raised an eyebrow deliberately, "Thank you for what?"

Nora felt extremely shy.

Steven glanced at her, a faint smile appearing on his lips.

Nora was mesmerized.

He actually smiled.

When Steven went to the bedroom to wash up, Elizabeth pulled Nora onto the couch to talk.

"Nora, since you're wearing the wedding ring now, you shouldn't sleep in separate rooms anymore. To build a relationship, you have to spend time together in the same room. Otherwise, how will you create new life?"
