Chapter 90 So Jealous
The two were shopping for groceries when Eleanor called again.
Olivia blocked her directly.
Always bossing her around, and now that things had blown up like this, she still wanted to control her?
Starting today, Olivia was going to listen to herself and make as much trouble as she wanted!
Luckily, she still had Nora by her side, so she wasn't completely alone. If the Adams family found out about her situation, Wayne would just scold her for being useless, and Marcella would just stay silent.
With parents like that, not only would they not help their daughter solve problems, they'd create even more trouble and arguments.
The doorbell rang.
Steven came out to answer it.
Alton stood there in a white shirt, tall and handsome.
Then Chris showed up too, his handsome face wearing a slight smile. "Heard there's a dinner party today, so I came too!"
Steven's expression darkened the second he saw Chris. "Why are you here?"
It looked totally unwelcoming.
Chris raised an eyebrow. "What? You look so annoyed to see me. Am I that unpleasant?"
Steven's eyes were cold.
He really didn't want to see him.
The two men entered and took off their shoes. Steven said coldly, "Nora doesn't know my real identity. Don't say anything stupid later."
"Got it." Alton nodded and changed into house slippers.
Steven said, "Alton is my friend, Chris is my boss. Remember that, okay?"
Chris's bodyguards had been seen by Nora, so his identity couldn't be hidden. He could only give him a higher status.
Chris was pleasantly surprised. "I'm actually your boss? What did I do to deserve this?"
"Your bodyguards were seen by Nora last time," Steven said as he walked back, leading them to sit on the sofa.
Chris could clearly tell Steven wasn't happy to see him.
Just then, the door was opened with a fingerprint scan.
Nora walked in carrying groceries with Olivia.
Alton's gaze swept over and landed right on Olivia. She had a pregnant belly but very good skin.
Olivia was a bit surprised to see Alton. "Mr. Bridges? What are you doing here?"
Alton stood up and gave her a slight smile. "I'm Steven's friend."
"So you're Steven's friend! Nice to meet you." Olivia shook his hand graciously.
But she was a bit puzzled inside. Why did all of Steven's friends seem so classy?
And Olivia knew Alton was rich - he drove a Rolls-Royce and owned a private hospital. He was probably one of those powerful CEO types.
While the two were talking, Steven's gaze circled them, his expression unreadable.
On the other side, Chris took the initiative to introduce himself to Nora. "I'm Steven's boss. My name is Chris Green."
Was Chris Steven's boss?
Nora was surprised and respectfully shook his hand. Steven's boss, of course, she had to be respectful. "Welcome to our home."
"No need to be so formal." Chris's fox-like eyes gleamed with a cunning smile. "Steven and I are also friends. We often drink together in private."
"I see." Nora smiled.
Steven watched the two of them darkly. That woman's smile was practically reaching her ears. Really something!
Did she like men like Chris?
Nora glanced at Steven. His face was expressionless as he handed Nora a glass pitcher. "Go get water!"
Nora was speechless.
Why was he suddenly giving her attitude?
Usually, he got it himself, right? Why did his male chauvinism kick in as soon as his friends arrived?
Nora went to get water, a bit unhappy.
Steven's gaze fixed on her, extremely cold.
Alton noticed and said to Chris with a smile, "See that? So jealous."
Chris's eyes were full of interest. "Jealous of me?"
"Who else would it be?"
Chris touched his chin. "Never thought there'd be a day when I could outshine his charm. Watch this!"
Nora came over carrying the glass pitcher. Chris deliberately got up to help her. "Let me, let me. How can we let a girl carry such a heavy pitcher?"
Nora looked embarrassed. "No, no, it's just a pitcher, not heavy."
"I'll do it." Chris insisted on taking it from her.
Steven glanced at him with a look cold enough to kill.
Chris suddenly wanted to laugh.
Steven had his day too!
Fun!
"You guys rest for a bit. I'll go prepare dinner." After Nora spoke, Olivia got up to help her.
Nora glanced at Steven, meaning for him to come help, but Steven acted like he didn't see it and even gave her a death stare.
Nora looked completely baffled.
What a moody man!
The two women - one washing vegetables in the kitchen, one cutting vegetables at the dining table.
Chris walked into the kitchen on his own and asked Nora, "Nora, what are we making today?"
He deliberately called her Nora, which made her hand shake. She glanced at Chris.
He smiled gently, looking toward Steven on the sofa.
Steven's face could already be described as ugly.
Nora told him about tonight's dishes.
Chris nodded, praising loudly, "I didn't know you could make so many dishes. I'm really good at braising beef. Let me help you braise the beef."
"No need, no need." Nora refused him. Olivia would help her later.
"It's fine, more people make it faster." Chris insisted on helping.
Nora couldn't refuse anymore. She looked over at Steven, who was staring at her darkly.
For some reason, Nora felt guilty.
"I'll help too." Alton was tired of looking at Steven's ugly face and walked over to Olivia. "Need help with anything?"
Olivia was cutting meat. She glanced up and said, "Help me sort the vegetables."
"How do I do that?" Alton didn't know. He held up the vegetables and asked her.
Olivia put down her knife and showed him.
Alton was smart and learned quickly.
The scene was lively, with only Steven isolated on the sofa.
His eyes were ice cold.
After a while, Chris said, "Nora, put on an apron. Your dress is so pretty, it would be a shame if it got dirty."
As he spoke, Chris grabbed an apron and was about to help Nora put it on.
Steven narrowed his eyes slightly, strode over, and snatched the apron from Chris's hands. "Get lost!"
Chris was pushed aside, pressing his lips together to hide a smile.
Nora frowned and said quietly, "Steven, why are you pushing your boss?"
With his emotional intelligence, did he want to get fired?
He didn't answer her. He just put the apron on her and tied it forcefully, his eyes completely cold.
Chris and Alton, who were watching from the side, were about to die laughing.
Still saying he didn't like Nora?
The jealousy was filling the entire room.
