Chapter 88 Eleanor Causes Trouble for Nora
An hour later, Willie arrived at the company. He cared about maintaining respect and wouldn't argue with Olivia in front of everyone. He just walked over to her and said, "Olivia, let's talk in the office."
"I'm busy right now," Olivia replied coldly, continuing to look at the documents on her computer.
Willie glanced at the screen, then shut her laptop with one hand, his face stern. "Olivia, I said, let's go talk."
Olivia looked at Willie, then finally followed him in. Willie pulled down all the blinds.
Hazel laughed gleefully at their misfortune.
Nora shot her a cold glance, then her phone rang.
Nora looked - it was an unknown number.
Nora answered, "Hello."
"Listen here, Nora." It was Eleanor's heavy voice on the other end. "Are you trying to stir up trouble in our family?"
Nora instinctively glanced at Bianca, who had her chin raised - she must have gone and tattled.
Nora replied calmly, "Mrs. Reed, when did I stir up trouble in your family?"
"How can you say you didn't? I just told Willie that the Adams family and the Reed family will never be one family, that we shouldn't do business together, and suggested you go start your own thing. Then you turned around and got them fighting. Last night, Olivia made me so angry that I ended up in the hospital, and today you brought Olivia to the company. Are you trying to make me die of anger?"
Nora thought to herself: I really do want to make you die of anger!
But she knew she couldn't say that out loud - if something actually happened, this family would definitely come after her.
Nora said, "Mrs. Reed, Apex Technologies Corporation was founded by Olivia and Willie together. It's perfectly reasonable for Olivia to come back to work at the company. Half of this company belongs to her. Even if we went to court, the judge would rule the same way. As for me, I'm here to help Olivia. Olivia asked me to come, so I came. You don't need to talk like I arranged everything. Actually, you're the ones who pushed Olivia to this point."
Why should it be that in a company founded by a married couple, Willie can bring in his siblings whenever he wants, but Olivia's sister has to be pushed out at every turn?
"I'm not talking to you about Olivia right now, I'm talking about you! Apex Technologies Corporation doesn't welcome you. When are you leaving?" Eleanor put it bluntly, just wanting her to get lost.
As long as the people on Olivia's side left, Olivia wouldn't be able to hold her ground at the company, and then she wouldn't be able to come back even if she wanted to!
If it weren't for Olivia, Nora would have left long ago - they'd been making snide remarks at her for half a year already.
But sometimes she thought, why should she fall into their trap just because others were scheming against her? By staying here, she could actually fight back and make those demons who wanted to mess with her helpless - wouldn't that be more satisfying?
"I'm not leaving," Nora responded directly. "Willie said back then that as long as he's here, I'm here. Now I'm holding him to that promise."
Eleanor's chest heaved with anger. "You Adams family women are truly shameless!"
"Who's shameless, they know in their hearts. When Willie had nothing, everyone hid and stayed away. Now that he has money, they all showed up - a family of bloodsuckers." With that, before Eleanor could fight back, Nora hung up.
Eleanor angrily called back, but Nora just wouldn't answer. She switched her phone to airplane mode and let Eleanor rage all she wanted.
After hanging up, Nora glanced at the office. The blinds were down, so she couldn't see what was happening inside. But Nora understood that the battle had begun. Olivia probably wouldn't be going home anytime soon. She sent Steven a message.
Nora: [Steven, Olivia's having a conflict with the Reed family. She probably won't be going back to the Reed house anytime soon. She might be staying at our place for a while.]
Steven: [That's fine, tell her to stay as long as she needs.]
Steven also couldn't stand those jerks from the Reed family.
This kind of person was pretty rare.
Nora felt warmth in her heart: [Thanks!]
Although Steven didn't say it out loud, Nora could tell that Steven didn't like the Reed family.
Willie and Olivia sat facing each other.
Willie asked with a stern face, "Olivia, what exactly are you trying to do?"
"Your mom deleted my fingerprint from the door. I should be asking what your family is trying to do." Olivia looked up at him. Yesterday, she would have cried, but today, the hurt in her heart had turned into flames. People need to stand up for themselves - when they come knocking at your door, you have to meet them head-on.
"I asked my mom about that. She said you were rude first. As long as you apologize to her, this whole thing is over." Willie glanced at her.
Olivia laughed coldly. "Forget it. I'm never going back to your family's house, and I don't need that allowance either. From today on, I'll go over the accounts with you every month to see how much profit the company makes, and you'll give me my half. I'll spend my own money, and I'll feel good about it."
That's what she had been checking just now.
Willie knew he couldn't hide it from her eyes. His expression darkened. "Why make such a fuss? My mom just wants Nora to leave Apex Technologies Corporation. I didn't say I wouldn't compensate her - isn't a hundred thousand dollars enough to buy out her shop? And your condition - you're six months pregnant now. Can you really handle working here?"
"Not selling for a hundred thousand dollars!" Olivia's tone was firm. She stood up. "From now on, I'm working at the company. At the end of the month, we'll settle the accounts. If you don't have time, I'll do it and give it to you!"
With that, she left the office.
Even though she knew that if Willie didn't give her the money after she calculated it, there wasn't much she could do - but if he didn't give it to her, she could make a scene. It just depended on whether Willie wanted things to get ugly.
If they were going to break up, then let's fight!
Worst case, she'd make it known to everyone and let the whole world know what kind of jerks the Reed family were!
Pushing a six-month pregnant wife to this point!
Before, for the sake of the baby, she wanted to wait until after giving birth and recovering before starting this fight. But now she couldn't take it anymore. That family clearly wanted to get rid of Nora before she gave birth!
Although Olivia had decided to fight, Nora was actually still worried, afraid that overwork might cause problems with the baby.
This baby had already had a threatened miscarriage and was saved with great difficulty. Olivia was now caught between two things - on one side was the baby in her belly, on the other was her career.
Because of Olivia's sudden return, the atmosphere at the company became a bit tense.
Mainly because everyone could see that Willie and Olivia weren't getting along - Apex Technologies Corporation seemed to have split into two factions.
In the afternoon, someone came to deliver chips. Bianca deliberately followed them out, just wanting to see Nora make a fool of herself.
But Nora had Steven's card. She had it linked to her phone and transferred the money to the other company.
Over a hundred thousand dollars - she paid in cash directly.
Bianca's eyes nearly popped out.
What was going on?
How did Nora have cash to pay?
