Chapter 87 Nora Interrupts Steven's International Conference
She didn't go to bed until after four, so she couldn't get up today. But if Nora didn't get up, Olivia would feel really uncomfortable being alone with Steven.
"Olivia, you're up so early?" Nora glanced at the time - it was past 8. "I went to bed after four last night, and only slept for 4 hours. I'm so tired."
"Get up," Olivia called out, then went to check if breakfast was ready.
Nora slowly sat up, rubbed her eyes, and went to the bathroom to wash up. A while later, she sat at the dining table with lifeless eyes.
Whenever Olivia came over, Olivia made breakfast, mainly because she got up early.
"Olivia, are you going to the office today?" Nora went into the kitchen to help prep vegetables - Olivia was going to stir-fry some veggies.
"Yeah," Olivia answered.
"Then I'll pack your lunch too." Nora went to the fridge to get ingredients.
Olivia said, "And Steven's."
Nora thought for a moment, and her brain went blank. "Steven's still home?"
It was almost nine. She and Olivia could go to work whenever they wanted, but Steven worked for a big company - could he really go in that late?
She'd just assumed Steven had already left for work!
Nora walked to the master bedroom. Steven was sitting at the computer in a video conference, wearing headphones and listening to someone speak.
What was going on?
Steven wore his headphones, his profile looking distant. He hadn't noticed Nora approaching until her figure appeared behind him.
There were over a dozen people in the video conference, people of various skin colors. They saw a graceful figure appear behind Steven.
First, they saw a vintage red dress, then a beautiful, delicate face.
Everyone in the meeting widened their eyes.
What was happening?
How did a woman appear next to the BOSS?
Could this be the BOSS's private life?
Everyone was shocked. Wasn't Steven supposed to keep his distance from women?
"Steven, what are you doing?" Nora asked him quietly.
Steven jumped, turned around, and Nora's clean face was very close to the screen, looking at it curiously.
The next second, the video connection was cut off.
Steven had closed it.
Everyone in the video looked confused. Why did the BOSS close the video? Was the internet connection bad?
"What are you doing?" Nora asked again.
Steven steadied himself and asked casually, "I'm in a meeting. Why didn't you knock before coming in?"
"I usually don't knock." She glanced at the computer. "I think I just saw people of several different skin colors in the meeting, right?"
That meeting looked really high-level - everyone was wearing suits and ties. Only Steven was wearing a black shirt, more casual than the others.
But those kinds of cross-cultural meetings were usually board meetings. Could Steven, just a small manager, participate in meetings like that?
Nora's doubts were growing heavier.
Steven caught the confusion in her eyes, and his expression became slightly unnatural. "I'm just sitting in."
"You can sit in on those?" Nora's gaze searched his face.
Steven said calmly, "Yes, the company wants to develop me, so my boss often brings me to sit in on meetings."
"Really?" Nora didn't quite believe it, touching her chin with a thoughtful look.
Steven looked at her face and said very sincerely, "That's right. I'm going to wash my face."
With that, he went into the bathroom.
Nora was confused. Olivia called from outside, "The vegetables are done, come eat while they're hot."
"Okay!" Nora responded, walked to the master bedroom bathroom door, and said to Steven, "Steven, Olivia's going to start coming to work with me today. I'll leave with her in a bit."
Steven's hand reached out from the bathroom and grabbed her at the doorway.
Nora turned her head. He was brushing his teeth and said unclearly, "I'll drive you both later."
Nora noticed his toothbrush had changed to an electric one - it wasn't the cheap toothbrush from before.
"When did you change your toothbrush?" Nora asked. How did that happen without her noticing?
Steven said lightly, "James gave it to me."
Nora raised her eyebrows, a bit suspicious. "I feel like he's being way too nice to you."
Running errands for him every day, visiting when he was sick, even giving him a toothbrush - this was more thoughtful and caring than a boyfriend!
Steven saw her expression and knew she was thinking something crazy. His handsome face darkened, and he flicked her forehead with his finger. "I'm warning you, don't let your imagination run wild."
"Ah!" Nora frowned in pain. "How did you know I was thinking crazy thoughts?"
"I can tell from the look in your eyes." Steven snorted. "You think I like men, right?"
Nora looked him up and down and nodded. "I'm actually a bit suspicious."
"You want me to prove it?" He pulled her close, his eyes becoming intense.
Nora's heart jumped, and she immediately ran away. "No, no, no! Olivia made breakfast, I'm going to eat!"
After the three of them finished breakfast, they left together.
Steven drove, Nora sat in the passenger seat, and Olivia sat in back so she could lie down when she got tired.
Nora helped Olivia walk into the company. All the employees stood up and said, "Mrs. Reed!"
Only Hazel's face didn't look good. She'd been touching up her makeup, but when she saw Olivia appear, her whole face went pale.
A mistress would always be a bit afraid of the legitimate wife.
Nora sat down at her desk.
Olivia simply sat across from Hazel, right next to Nora, and had someone bring her a laptop.
Amelia had a gossipy expression. "What's going on? Why is Olivia here at work?"
Nora answered quietly, "The battle's begun."
Amelia understood immediately. She knew all about how the Reed family had been controlling Olivia after her pregnancy.
At the start, Nora and Amelia had both been under Olivia - they were kind of like Olivia's subordinates.
Amelia said, "Got it."
If Olivia were going to war with the Reed family, Amelia would definitely be on Olivia's side.
Olivia's account had higher access than regular employees. When she logged in, she could see all the inventory information and purchase prices.
After half a year away from the company, Olivia was a bit rusty, but she'd made up her mind - she'd just learn everything again. Otherwise, she'd really have nothing left.
When Bianca got to the office and saw Olivia, she was startled. "Olivia, why are you here?"
"It's my company. Can't I come?" Olivia answered with a smile, seeming not angry at all.
After last night's scene at the hospital, everyone thought they'd be at each other's throats and heading for divorce. Who knew she'd show up at the office today!
Bianca said coldly, "Olivia, can you even handle it with your condition? Don't pass out from vomiting and end up in the hospital again."
"You should worry about yourself." After Olivia finished speaking, she browsed the hot-selling products from the past three months - these were all things she needed to relearn.
Bianca felt a bit guilty, gave Hazel a look, and ran off to call Willie. "Willie, Olivia came to the office today. She's sitting right next to Nora with a laptop, I don't know what she's planning to do!"
When Willie heard this, his face darkened.
