Chapter 308 Being with Louis Makes Me Very Happy
Chapter 308 Being with Louis Makes Me Very Happy
"Louis." Scarlett's voice suddenly came from behind. They walked over—everyone was heading to the resort, so they were going the same way.
Louis turned around and saw Scarlett and Steven walking over together.
Seeing Louis again.
Steven stared at Nora for a moment. She was carrying a box of cake, looking at Louis with a smile and gentle eyes.
Steven's heart tightened, his gaze falling on Nora.
After fighting last night, today she's at the resort on a date with Louis.
Nora, you really are something.
Sure enough, women's words can't be trusted.
Nora's eyes met Steven's.
She wanted to appear indifferent, but Steven's gaze was very aggressive. Nora felt uncomfortable and looked away.
Steven's expression was cold and gloomy.
"Cousin." Louis greeted Scarlett politely, then looked at Steven with questioning eyes.
Wasn't he Nora's husband? Why was he with Scarlett?
Scarlett smiled and asked, "Are you guys here to have fun at the resort?"
"Yes." Louis nodded slightly.
Scarlett was about to say something more when Steven had already walked past them and left, his retreating figure as cold as could be.
Nora's gaze unconsciously fell on his back.
Although she had said during last night's fight that she wouldn't care about things between him and Scarlett anymore and just wanted to live peacefully with him.
But seeing him actually being this cold, there was an undeniable sadness in her heart.
"Nora."
Louis called her several times before Nora snapped back to attention. "What's wrong?"
"Why would Steven come to the resort with Scarlett? Are they here to have fun?" Louis asked.
Nora shook her head. "I don't know."
"Did you two have a fight?" Louis was perceptive. "Was it because he picked you up from the Bennett family last night and you had a conflict when you got back?"
"Can we not talk about him?" Nora glanced at Louis. She really didn't want to bring up Steven right now.
Louis pressed his lips together and stopped asking, taking Nora to the plaza to find Aria.
The plaza connected to the ocean, where someone was performing flyboarding on the water.
Aria sat under an outdoor umbrella and waved. "Over here."
Nora looked around the plaza. It was full of people everywhere, and in the distance was the azure blue sea meeting the sky.
Seeing the ocean lifted Nora's mood a bit.
After sitting down, Nora took out the dessert she made and placed it in front of them. "This is a cake I created myself. If you don't mind, let's try it together."
"Of course." Aria smiled and took a bite. "Delicious!"
The two started chatting about cooking.
Louis was like an outsider, sitting to the side drinking water, watching the water performance—a leisurely Spring Festival holiday, which wasn't bad.
Originally, Aria had wanted Vivian to come along today, hoping to help them reconcile.
But Vivian refused and went to a New Year's party on the mountaintop with George.
During the New Year, the Bennett family had many social events. Aria didn't like attending them much due to her health, but Vivian enjoyed making appearances at parties and had been attending many events with George.
"That looks really cool." Nora pointed at the flyboarder on the water.
Staff members stood on water jets, shooting up into the air. Interested tourists could buy tickets and try it themselves.
Aria said, "Nora, if you're interested, you can go buy a ticket and have the staff take you to experience it."
Nora shook her head. "No thanks."
She didn't want staff members holding her—it felt weird.
Aria pointed at a jet ski. "Louis is pretty good at that. He plays it often abroad. Want Louis to take you for a ride?"
Nora looked over. She was quite interested in that. Since she was out to have fun, she should try it, otherwise not doing anything would feel like a waste.
So they changed clothes and got on the jet ski.
"Hold on tight." Louis put on sunglasses, his handsome face charming.
Water splashed on her face, ice cold. Nora felt her mood improve considerably.
Sure enough, this kind of thrilling water sport temporarily made her brain produce dopamine, creating a happy feeling.
Nora enjoyed the sensation of speeding across the water. The sea breeze lifted her long hair as she held onto Louis, showing a faint smile.
Aria had suggested she go play to help her relax. She could tell Nora was in a bad mood.
Meanwhile.
Scarlett and Steven entered the hotel lobby. Steven had James go to the front desk to check Theo's room number.
Theo had come to the resort with his mistress.
However, by the time they arrived, Theo had already left.
He and his mistress had come yesterday, stayed one night, and left the hotel at 2 PM.
It was already past 3 PM now—they were a step too late.
"Mr. York, Ms. Lewis, the hotel staff said Mr. Theo York has already checked out and left," James came over to tell Scarlett.
Steven glanced at Scarlett.
Scarlett looked somewhat disappointed. "He probably knew I was coming and checked out early."
Having found nothing, they got up to leave.
As they passed through the hotel plaza, a scream came from the azure sea.
Steven's ears perked up. He seemed to recognize Nora's voice. He turned and looked toward the water, immediately spotting that familiar figure.
Nora was sitting behind Louis, wearing a tight wetsuit, holding Louis tightly as they sped across the water.
The wetsuit outlined her perfect figure, curvy and attractive, drawing whistles from many men.
Nora couldn't hear them. She was further out on the water, her long hair whipping in the wind, smiling with bright eyes.
Steven's eyes darkened.
"The people on the jet ski look like Louis and Nora," Scarlett said, having good eyesight.
Steven's face turned cold. "Let's go."
"I think I see Aria. I'll go say hello." Scarlett spotted Aria and walked in her direction.
Steven looked toward the water, darkness seeping into his eyes.
Louis and Nora had already returned.
As they got off the jet ski, Nora almost fell but Louis caught her in time, and she fell into his arms.
Louis froze.
Nora froze too.
They looked at each other, both feeling a bit awkward.
Really awkward.
"It was an accident," Nora could only say. In her heart, she saw Louis like a brother—she absolutely had no improper thoughts.
Louis was understanding and didn't say anything, only saying gently, "Be careful when you walk."
"Okay, the sand is too slippery," Nora replied, then felt a sharp gaze watching her from a distance.
She turned her head.
She saw Steven and James standing under a tree, looking grim.
Nora's heart tightened. She felt inexplicably guilty, though there was nothing between her and Louis. But falling into his arms was real.
She held Louis's arm to stand up. "I'm fine now. Let's go."
Nora went to change clothes and took a shower.
Coming out of the water, she was cold and needed a hot shower.
After showering, she walked out of the changing room carrying the wetsuit, and a tall figure blocked the light above her.
Nora's hair was still damp. She looked up and saw the man with an extremely cold expression.
Nora didn't want to talk to him and walked around him.
"Nora." Steven grabbed her wrist with great force.
Nora frowned. "What do you want now?"
Steven said nothing and led her behind the changing room to a corner by some greenery—a blind spot with no one around.
"My hand hurts. Can you let go?" Nora bit her lip.
Steven stared at her for several seconds before releasing her, looking down at her with a cold expression. "Did you have fun?"
Nora rubbed her wrist. "It was okay."
Coming out to play, she couldn't just do nothing, right? That would waste the entrance fee.
"You were smiling so brightly, and you call that 'okay'?" Steven's eyes were thick as ink. "You said you and Louis were innocent, that there was nothing between you, but you rode a jet ski together and hugged each other."
Nora listened to his words without responding.
She thought, how was he any better?
He said he wouldn't agree to divorce, left Nora at home, and came to the resort with Scarlett himself. How innocent was that?
"Why aren't you talking? Are you going to say again that there's nothing between you and him, then turn around and throw yourself into his arms and roll into his bed?"
"Don't talk so nastily." Nora glared at him, her eyes angry.
"I'm talking nastily?" Steven stepped forward, his eyes full of heavy mockery. "Weren't you two just hugging?"
"That was an accident."
"You always have excuses." Steven's eyes were deep. He reached out and grabbed her arm, as if angry, his tone very gloomy. "Haven't I told you? Louis is Vivian's brother. You're constantly hanging around with him—aren't you afraid he's actually deceiving you?"
"I'm not afraid." She just trusted Louis, trusted Aria. They had specially said goodbye to her before returning to Thalassia. Nora felt they were both very sincere.
She looked directly into Steven's eyes and said, "When I had a conflict with Vivian, Louis took my side. I trust him. Mrs. Bennett is also a kind person."
"You're really naive." Steven sneered. "You think he's some pure-hearted man? That he'd be good to you for no reason?"
"We get along well. Isn't that okay?"
"Get along well?"
"That's right. Being with him, I just feel happy. No one forces me, no one looks down on me. He never hurts me." If she had to say which man in the world made her feel most at ease, she thought it should be Louis. Being with him, even in the same room, she believed Louis wouldn't do anything to her.
A woman's intuition was always accurate.
Steven's face darkened as he moved closer to her. "Happy?"
Nora watched the man getting closer and instinctively stepped back. "Don't come any closer."
"What if I do?" His tone was cold, the gloom in his eyes thick and undissolvable. The next second, she was pulled into his arms.
His intense scent entered her nose.
Her breath was filled with his scent, disturbing her thoughts into chaos.
