Chapter 117 Busy Wife
Nora shook her head, "I worked from home this morning, and I'm going to the hospital to see Olivia this afternoon."
Steven nodded, "How is Olivia doing now?"
"Much better than before."
After that, they both fell silent.
Nora ate for a while, then noticed Steven wasn't talking. She looked up at him.
He was looking at her, too.
Their eyes met.
Nora suddenly remembered what happened last night. Her face flushed red, and the food on her fork fell off.
Steven chuckled softly, as if savoring something.
Nora's face turned even redder.
"Why is your face so red?" Steven asked on purpose.
Nora was so embarrassed she could barely swallow her food. She said shyly, "Stop asking! Just eat!"
Only then did Steven stop teasing her.
When they were almost done eating, Steven asked her, "What about your shop?"
"All settled," Nora said. "I can sell it to him."
"Do you want me to draft an agreement for you?"
"What?" This was beyond Nora's knowledge. She looked up. "Can't we just handwrite it?"
"Handwriting is too casual. Besides, $100,000 is not a small amount. He could turn around and sue you for fraud. It's better to draft an agreement. Once there's an agreement, he can't go back on his word."
Steven had a pretty good sense of legal matters.
Nora nodded, trusting and relying on her husband. "Okay, then you draft it for me. Thank you..."
She paused, seeing Steven staring at her, and added, "honey."
She had said, "Thank you, honey."
Steven's ears twitched when he heard "honey." "What did you just say?"
Nora blushed. "I said, thank you..."
She couldn't continue.
"Thank what?" he asked deliberately, his eyes teasing.
Nora felt uncomfortable being teased by him. She said softly, "Stop asking!"
This woman really knew how to act cute.
It was the first time Steven found Nora's cuteness charming.
He used to ignore that kind of thing, finding it affected and annoying.
They finally finished the meal.
Nora commented, "Everything was delicious, but there's so much left over. What a waste!"
She got up to clean up. "I'll save it and eat it again at lunch."
"Won't it get cold by lunch?" Steven pulled out a tissue, wiped his mouth, and looked up at her.
"It's fine, we have a microwave at home." Nora thought he just lacked common sense. "Just heat it up, and it's good to eat. Saves me from cooking at lunch, too."
"So you're working from home this morning?"
"Yes!" she replied, glancing at the time. "It's already past nine. Steven, you need to go to the office."
He usually left around eight.
Steven responded, "I'm leaving now."
Nora went to the bedroom to get his bag, like a busy wife.
Steven smiled, deliberately noticing her walking posture. It was indeed a bit off.
When Nora brought out the bag, Steven stood by the entrance and wrapped his arm around her waist, asking, "Does it still hurt today?"
The question made Nora blush.
She lowered her eyes, her lashes long. Having been nourished by love, Nora's features were full of charm.
Steven squeezed her waist.
Her waist was very slim.
He had enjoyed himself thoroughly last night.
He couldn't help but laugh, his warm breath falling on her face. "I noticed your walking posture is a bit strange today. Are you very uncomfortable?"
Nora's body trembled at his touch.
She suddenly recalled the scenes from last night.
Steven had held her waist, taking advantage of her completely. She cried, but he showed no mercy, continuing to push further.
Nora remembered that burning sensation.
She shyly lowered her eyes, not daring to meet his gaze anymore.
"Are you remembering something?" Steven lifted her chin, asking with amusement.
"No, no!" She didn't want to continue this conversation. The more they talked, the worse it got. She pushed him out the door. "Go on."
Steven felt strangely reluctant to leave, looking at her. "You still haven't told me. Are you uncomfortable or not?"
Nora didn't answer.
Steven said, "If you don't tell me, I'm not leaving."
Nora stamped her foot and said coquettishly, "Yes, I'm a little uncomfortable!"
It really hurt.
But not as unbearable as last night.
Today, aside from feeling numb, everything else was okay.
"I asked my doctor friend last night. He said this is normal. It'll get better after a few more times," Steven said.
Nora fell silent.
Doctor friend? Could it be Chris?
If so, how would she face Chris in the future?
Nora felt terrible.
"Your doctor friend isn't Chris, is it?" Nora asked him with a complicated expression.
"No, it's someone else."
Nora breathed a sigh of relief. As long as it wasn't him, at least it wouldn't be so awkward since she'd never met this person.
"Okay, go to work now. I need to get busy, too." Nora pushed him.
Nora was afraid that if he stayed longer, he might do something even more outrageous.
"Alright." Steven looked at her. "I'll pick you up at the hospital tonight and bring the agreement."
"Okay." She agreed and saw him out.
After Steven left, Nora stood in the entrance for a while, a faint smile blooming on her lips.
Now they had slept together.
From now on, they would be a real married couple, right?
All morning, she was in a good mood, working on spreadsheets at home and making soup.
At lunch, she heated the leftover food from breakfast.
After finishing everything, Nora saved the spreadsheet on a USB drive, unplugged it, hung it around her neck, and went out.
She went to a print shop, printed out the contract, signed her name, and arranged for same-city delivery to the address Mr. Hayes specified.
When placing the order, Nora looked at the address. The location showed York Development Group?
York Development Group?
Why would Mr. Hayes be at York Development Group?
"Excuse me, Miss, should I deliver the document now?" the courier next to her urged.
Nora had to stop thinking about it. She put the contract in a sealed, confidential envelope and handed it to the courier.
After doing all this, Nora felt relieved. She had Andrew sign the contract and send it back to the Riverside Apartment address, since she no longer had a company.
Andrew looked at the return address on his phone and smiled dismissively.
Riverside Apartment, Building A, 200A.
So Steven was living with her here...
Half an hour later.
Nora arrived at the hospital.
Olivia was in much better spirits today. A caregiver was looking after her in the room, and Willie had arranged for meals to be delivered three times a day.
"Has Willie had a change of heart?" Nora put down the soup, still a bit surprised.
Olivia turned to the caregiver and said, "My sister is here. Why don't you go take a walk outside? I'll call you if I need anything."
Olivia sent the caregiver out.
"Okay, I'll go sit in the garden downstairs." The caregiver was a woman in her thirties who tactfully left.
Nora closed the ward door.
Olivia sneered, "Showing concern after the fact—who knows what he's really up to."
