Chapter 90: Not a Nightmare

Chapter 90: Not a Nightmare
Mirage’s P.O.V

I sprang up into a sitting position, covered in sweat and my mind swimming in panic, that was until I saw Alex’s green eyes groggy with sleep, as he too sat up in bed next to me.

“Mirage?” He squinted his eyes, rubbing at his face with his hands. “What’s wrong? Are you alright?”

“Alex!” Getting out of the covers, I straddled his hips and wrapping an arm around his neck, crashed my lips onto his.

A groan escaped his lips as his hand came up behind me to support my head as my kiss got feverent, desperate. I was afraid that it was going to make him weary, but it didn’t take long before he returned the kiss with just as much desperation, his free arm wrapping around my waist to pull me even closer to him.

Was he able to feel my desperate need to have him closer? To make sure that he was still beside me and not dust on the wind like the nightmare I just had? Could he tell that I was about ready to lose my mind out of fear of losing him forever? That even the bare thought of never being able to see him again was like my heart getting ripped out of my body and getting torn into a million pieces?

My hands tugged at his hair, pulling his head backwards and breaking the kiss temporarily. And I took advantage of it to head straight for the smooth column of his throat, kissing and sucking on the delicate skin, leaving my mark on him to show my claim.

It wasn’t long before Alex’s hands went to the hem of his T-shirt and he tugged it over his head to leave his upper body bare for me to explore.

But I didn’t want foreplay. I want him, inside me; now.

I wanted to reassure myself that my nightmare wasn’t true. That Alex was right here, beside me and he wasn’t going anywhere; especially not into any of Alistair’s traps.

Still straddling him, I sat up on my knees and rolled down my panties.

Alex got my message and he too pulled down his boxers, letting his erection spring free of the restraints.

I lowered myself on top of him, positioning my entrance at the blunt head of his cock. Alex helped guide himself inside of me and the moment his hard shaft entered me, filling me up like it had never felt before.

It took a second to find the proper rhythm, but then Alex took a hold of my hips and helped me find the perfect rhythm. I matched his thrusts with mine, feeling each thrust going deeper and deeper until I could feel him hitting my inner wall.

My sound of my moans made me bite down on my lower lip. I wrapped my arms around Alex’s shoulders, holding onto him tightly as I undulated my hips. The feeling of heat building in the pit of my stomach, combined with the urgency in my heart made me fasten my pace.

Alex groaned, holding onto me even tighter as his thrusts got faster as well.

The orgasm brought a much needed release, both physically and mentally. As long as I was riding the euphoric high, nothing else mattered, nothing but me and Alex.

But as the urgency and the euphoria subsided…I was left with this gnawing feeling inside my heart…this feeling that wanted me to tell him…to tell him everything…but I knew I couldn’t.

I couldn’t let Alistair taint his world like he had done mine.

“What is it?” Alex asked, his voice husky as he held onto me tightly, his forehead pressed to mine. “You had a nightmare, didn’t you?”

The mere thought of Alex finding out made me panic. But I also knew that I couldn’t escape this. Alex was getting far too good at reading me to let this go easily. So I decided to tell him the truth…but only partly.

“It was beautiful at first…we were in the forest and I was chasing you.” I told him, my voice barely above a whisper. “You were in your wolf form and you looked happy…running through the forest.”

“But?” He urged.

“You started running too fast.” I swallowed hard. “I tried to keep up with you…I kept telling you to stop but you didn’t listen…you just kept running. And then it started to rain…and then lightning came down from the sky…and…”

I couldn’t say it. The way the lightning hit him and he turned to all but ash…The scene kept playing over and over again inside my head on a loop and it was worst feeling ever.

I wrapped my arms around his neck, holding onto him tightly; hoping that the dream would go away…but no matter how hard I squeezed my eyes shut, Alistair’s maniacal laughter kept playing inside my head.

“It’s ok.” Alex’s arms wrapped around me tightly. “I’m right here.”

I nodded, burying my face in the crook of his neck, hiding away from the horrid reality for as long as I could.

‘Then come to me of your own will and I will stop what’s happening with the child. You have two days.’

Two days…Alistair gave me two days or he’ll kill Julian…and probably even more people in the pack…

‘I’m everywhere, my pet. I see everything. I hear everything. I know…everything.’

No!

I couldn’t let this happen! Not to Julian, not to Alex or anyone else! That dream had been a warning…a premonition. And if I didn’t follow his orders…there was going to be blood.
