Chapter 162: Silver’s Revenge

Chapter 162: Silver’s Revenge
Lilac’s P.O.V

My eyes brimmed with confusion and hurt as I confronted Silver in the dimly lit room I was being held captive in.

"Did you…ever really consider me a friend, Silver?" my voice trembled with a mixture of fear and desperation, my heart aching with the weight of betrayal.

Silver, her gaze heavy with sorrow and a haunted past, met my eyes. "I used to belong to a peaceful pack, a pack that had been my home since the day I was born," she began, her voice tinged with a raw emotion that spoke volumes of her pain. "We lived in harmony, in unity. It was everything to me."

Tears welled up in Silver's eyes, reflecting the agony of memories etched deep within her soul. "Your father," she whispered, the words heavy with anguish. "He... he attacked our pack. In the dead of night, when darkness cloaked the land, he led a brutal assault."

I felt my heart ache for the woman that I had once considered my biggest alley, but now, she had turned out to be my biggest threat.

Silver's voice quivered as she recounted the horrors of that night. "He killed, he looted, he... he raped. The pack I cherished, my family, torn apart by his unspeakable actions." Her gaze fell to the ground, unable to bear the weight of the memories. “I had to watch... I had to watch as my parents, and even our Alpha, were taken down before my very eyes, slaughtered mercilessly liked dogs!" Silver's voice wavered, her gaze distant yet piercing. "It was a massacre, a night that's etched into my soul."

"I was captured, kept captive, and it was then that a slave boy came to my aid." Silver's eyes flickered with gratitude and sorrow all at once. "Krimson... he risked everything to help me escape the clutches of our enemies."

Krimson? He had been the one to help Silver?

The weight of her words settled heavily upon me. "He was just a boy, but his courage knew no bounds. He showed me kindness and bravery when I had lost everything." Silver's voice softened, carrying both the pain of remembrance and the warmth of gratitude.

"For years, I've bided my time, gaining power, mastering skills I never knew I possessed," she continued. "I sought vengeance, but not through conventional means."

Her words hung in the air, pregnant with mystery and determination. "I delved into the ancient dark arts, mastering the summoning of wraiths," Silver revealed, her eyes intense. "Wraiths, the spirits of those who died violently, became my allies in seeking justice."

The gravity of her revelations settled within me. I watched her in stunned silence, my eyes wide as I absorbed Silver's words.

"So, you're saying... those wraiths that were after me…?" my voice trembled, barely audible over the pounding of her own heart.

Silver nodded, her eyes holding a kind of gleam that sent shivers down my spine. “Yes. I was the one who sent them after you…just like I had been the one to unleash those beings on your pack…watched with utter joy as your pack burned to the ground…just like your father had done to mine.”

Tears welled up in my eyes, my lips trembling. "It was your voice I heard that night, wasn’t it? When I was fleeing into the forest after my pack was attacked…it was your voice that haunted me, telling me to run…"

"I followed you that night into the forest," Silver confessed, her head tilting to the side as she recounted that incident. "I hoped the wild hyenas would tear you to bits. I was hoping you’d die in pain, just like my pack had suffered."

Her words hit me like a sudden storm, unexpected and fierce. Silver, my once-close friend, harbored such intense animosity towards me…and I hadn't even realized it.

"But," she continued, her voice strained, "Krimson... Krimson saved you. That... that changed everything." Silver's confession hung in the air. “Krimson was the reason I couldn't touch you. He saved you, and since Krimson was the person who had helped me escape…I had vowed to never harm him. That was why I had to wait for four years to get my revenge on you. I couldn’t get to you as long as you were under Krimson’s protection."

The realization dawned on me, a complex mix of emotions swirling within.

Krimson…had unknowingly saved me from a fate worse than death.

As the tangled web of lies and deceit unfolded themselves before my eyes, I couldn’t believe how all of our lives seemed to be connected with intricate threads of fate. Krimson, Harmona, Silver and me…we were all part of a grand scheme and my father’s treachery seemed to be at the centre of it all…

"Once you left the pack," Silver began again, her tone carrying a weight that seemed to hang in the air, "you stepped away from his protection. You're vulnerable now, Lilac."

My breath caught in my throat, my eyes flickering up to meet Silver's intense gaze. She flicked her wrist in a way that seemed to mimic a deadly dance, and my eyes widened in fear as I noticed faint, ghostly figures flitting at the edge of my vision.

Silver followed my gaze, a haunted look in her eyes. "Those are the wraiths that I summoned. The souls of the deceased," she explained, her voice laden with sorrow. "They were killed by your father. They were killed in inhuman ways and when they arose from the shadows, they willingly joined me in my quest for revenge."

The truth unfolded before me like a sinister tapestry, each revelation adding a new layer of complexity to my world. I felt the weight of responsibility and guilt settling upon my shoulders, knowing that the sins of my father cast a shadow that reached far beyond his time.

My father, the man I once revered, adored, and believed to be a beacon of strength and guidance, was nothing but a master manipulator, a cruel architect of pain and suffering. Each revelation echoed through the corridors of my mind, shattering illusions I had clung to for so long. His carefully crafted facade crumbled before my eyes, leaving behind a desolate landscape of deceit and malice.

The words that tumbled from my lips were raw, borne of the agony of comprehension. I turned to Silver, my voice quivering with a mixture of despair and resolution.

"If ending me brings even a semblance of closure—if it unravels the tangled web my father wove around us all—I... I am willing to pay that price."

Silver's response was not what I anticipated. There was a cold determination in her gaze, a chilling resolve that cut through the haze of my despair.

“Oh…killing you had always been my plan, Lilac…but not anymore.” She said in a voice that chilled the blood in my veins. “Now that I know you’re a Silver Alpha Breeder, one that had the power of manipulation in her veins…you’re much more useful to me alive than dead.”

I watched in horror as Silver picked up a sharp knife from the tray next to her, the blade catching the light of the candles as it gleamed wickedly in the dimly lit room.

“I will instead harvest your powers, sacrificing you with a dagger to your heart that will slowly and painfully draw every drop of blood in your body under the light of the full moon.” With a maniacal glint in her eyes Silver raised the dagger in her hands as she slowly approached me. “And then…once I consume that blood…all your powers will become mine…and I will become the new Silver Alpha Breeder.”

The revelation fell upon me like a leaden weight, a suffocating realization that my fate was to become a pawn in a game of ruthless ambition.

Betrayal, fear, and anguish mingled in a tumultuous storm within me, painting an agonizing portrait of despair. I lay there, paralyzed by the horrifying truth that my existence was to be reduced to a means to an end—a sacrificial lamb offered upon the altar of greed and dominance.
