Chapter 106 Have You Regained Your Memory?

In the rehabilitation room, warm sunlight spread across the floor.

Supported by the doctor, Olivia held her breath, struggling to steady her swaying body, gritting her teeth as she took the first step.

Instantly, a stabbing pain in her leg surged toward her like a tidal wave, making her breath tremble and cold sweat pour down.

It hurt so much!

Olivia clenched her teeth and took another difficult step.

"Ms. Harper, why don't you hold onto me while walking?" Seeing Olivia shaking badly, her clothes soaked with cold sweat without making a sound, the family doctor couldn't help but speak up. "You're just starting recovery. You don't need to push yourself so hard, or it might backfire."

Olivia let out a breath, her voice strained. "I can handle it."

Rehabilitation was truly painful. The process was like resetting broken bones without anesthesia. With each step, the pain was so intense she could barely breathe and felt like she might pass out.

But she thought of Alexander.

What he went through in rehab was probably much worse. For him to recover to his current state, he must have suffered so much in private.

More than her physical pain, her heart ached for him.

No one can truly understand another's suffering, but going through the same rehabilitation now let her experience at least some of what he went through.

She didn't want to give up, just like he refused to give up back then.

Olivia blinked her sweat-blurred eyes and continued forward shakily.

A distance of just three feet took her ten minutes.

Evening.

"It's gotten colder these past few days. Why are you wearing so little?"

When Alexander came home, he saw Olivia curled up in a rocking chair reading, wearing only a thin tank top. He grabbed a blanket from the sofa and covered her with it.

"Alexander." Olivia reached out to him, her voice carrying a hint of grievance.

Picking up on this, Alexander bent down and lifted her up. Before he could ask, Olivia wrapped her arms around his neck and held him tight.

Alexander sat down on the sofa with her, his large hand gently patting her back, asking like he was coaxing a child, "Did something happen today?"

"I went to rehabilitation." Olivia nestled in his arms, eyes downcast, her fingers absently playing with his tie.

"Did it hurt too much?" He lifted a corner of the blanket, his warm fingertips touching her calf. "If so, let's stop the rehabilitation. You'll get better eventually anyway."

"No, it's because I thought of you."

Olivia bit her lip. "If just rehabilitating a fracture hurts this much, then back when you..." Thinking of what he looked like back then, her heart couldn't help but ache.

Seeing her care so much about him, Alexander felt happy, but when he saw her reddened eyes and the tears welling up, his Adam's apple bobbed and his heart sank.

"It's all in the past." He kissed her cheek. "I'm very happy now."

Though the process was difficult and winding, the outcome was good, and that was enough.

This made Olivia want to cry even more.

The two nestled on the sofa and talked for a long time, eventually circling back to the accident. They both knew it couldn't be a simple accident, but they hadn't yet figured out who was behind it.

Olivia opened her computer, saying firmly, "I feel like it's still those few people, especially James and Isabella. They're very likely involved."

"I've already had people focus on those two," Alexander said.

Watching Olivia open her email to countless recruitment messages, he asked, "What are your plans now?"

"If you want to lean on a big tree, Titan Enterprises is still your best choice. But if there's somewhere you want to go, I'll support you unconditionally." He squeezed her palm, waiting for her answer.

Hearing this, Olivia smiled. "I'm planning to start my own studio."

Her tone was calm but full of confidence.

She glanced at the still-scrolling invitation messages, her eyes growing more determined.

Rather than ending up as a pawn, it was better to enter the game and move the pieces.

"Good." Alexander was somewhat surprised by this decision, but he still chose to support her and offered many solid suggestions.

Olivia listened and took notes, asking questions from time to time. Just as the two were discussing a question intensely, a phone ring suddenly interrupted their conversation.

Seeing the caller was Albert, Olivia couldn't help rolling her eyes.

Isabella and James had finally quieted down, and now the Harper family was popping up again.

"Not answering?" Alexander asked.

"They definitely don't have anything good to say." Though she said this, Olivia still pressed the answer button.

As soon as the call connected, Albert's eager concern came through the receiver. "Olivia, how's your rest going? Is your leg feeling better?"

Hearing this fake concern, Olivia felt nothing. "What do you want?"

Albert was taken aback, then said, "I hope you can come live at home, so someone can take care of you. After you recover, come back to work at the company."

"We're all family. The company will give you all its resources, and your career will be much easier. Since there's a shortcut, why make things hard on yourself?"

"I refuse." Hearing this familiar pitch, Olivia rejected it without hesitation.

She knew very well that the Harper family was a dangerous place. They seemed to want to help her, but really wanted to get more from her. At this stage, she didn't want to rely on anyone. She just wanted to work hard on her own, step by step, until she could stand shoulder to shoulder with Alexander.

Albert wanted to say more, but the call was already disconnected.

"It's fine, don't worry about him." Seeing Alexander hesitate to speak, Olivia waved her hand dismissively. She sat up from Alexander's embrace and stood to get some water.

She moved too quickly. By the time Alexander reacted, her foot, still wrapped in bandages, had already planted firmly on the ground.

She was about to walk when a sudden, uncontrollable sharp pain shot through her leg, making her stumble and fall straight forward!

"Watch out!" Alexander's pupils contracted sharply as he rushed to grab her.

The accident happened too suddenly. Though Alexander pulled Olivia into his arms in time, the space between the sofa and coffee table was limited, and their movements were large, so some bumps and knocks were inevitable.

After a series of clattering sounds, the living room returned to silence.

Alexander quickly propped himself up. He carefully patted Olivia's shoulder, wanting to help her up but worried about hurting her. "Olivia, Olivia, are you okay?"

Suddenly, he saw his palm was covered in bright red.

Blood?

How could there be blood?

Alexander looked in horror at Olivia, who had her eyes closed and wasn't saying anything. Blood was flowing from her forehead, already soaking the stray hairs at her temples. His voice trembled uncontrollably. "Olivia, don't scare me... Doctor! I'll call the doctor right away!"

Just as he was frantically looking for his phone, the person in his arms let out a pained murmur.

Olivia slowly opened her eyes. When she saw who was in front of her, her expression was strange, her tone calm with a hint of distance. "Alexander Blake?"

Just one sentence froze Alexander in place.

Looking at himself reflected in her cold pupils, his heart skipped a beat, and an ominous feeling crept up from his feet to the top of his head. "Olivia... you..."

"Have you recovered your memory?"
