Chapter 156 156
Chapter 156 156
Lysandra~~
“This should end here. Sandra must be misquoting something due to her postpartum.” Jonathan, whose face was burning red, said to the men seated before us, on his feet. “She’s been acting weird for quite some time, and in addition to what just happened at my residence recently, she needs enough rest,” he added, and I kept shaking my head.
The ministers all turned to me, their expressions unpredictable.
“Luna, what do you have to say?”
“I stand on what I had previously said, that I signed no agreement with him, as that's not my official signature,” I stated, the tone of my voice showing how mean I was.
One of them cleared his throat, “As she said, I scanned the signature, and I think that's the official one. The one on the agreement is seen nowhere online.”
“That's impossible!” Jonathan sneered at them. “She signed that agreement. I have proof of the footage when she did.”
Of course, they all picked up interest in it while he scrolled through his cell phone, seeking the footage he had recorded.
Just like Ramsey once said, I pitied him already. He had just lost his building and everything in it, including his mum. When the council brings up the death of the people in his residence, he would be charged, because I never saw a fire extinguisher like I always saw in the palace, so he will probably get a taste of his carelessness.
After several seconds, and he had yet to show them the footage, the chief council minister ended the silence, “If there's no proof, then it means that she never signed it as she said. Luna isn't a child any longer, and a strong lycan like her will hardly be affected by postpartum so much that she wouldn't recall when she signed an agreement with you.”
Even if his mum was here, there was no proof except by word of mouth.
“So, do we now conclude that you will need to wait until three months have elapsed? This was our initial agreement, and we have a few days left,” the chief minister added.
While the others nodded, Jonathan was fuming in rage.
His fingers wrapped around his cell phone, tightened, and his gaze narrowed. “You all know something about this. There's no way I lost the whole footage in my cell phone just now,” he growled at them, but none flinched.
One of the business directors cleared his throat, “I wouldn't stand that accusation when your residence just got burnt. Don't you think it could be the cause of the loss?”
“Then who was behind the fire outbreak?” Jonathan asked the man, his face contorted.
He stood up, “Should we talk about that now? Do you want the councils looking into it?”
“We are not interested in any matter that does not concern the king until these three months elapse. We assume you set it up so you could divert our attention, and so we don't give a damn,” the deputy chief minister stated.
Jonathan stiffened. He didn't expect them to turn around the arrow towards him again.
He turned to me, and this time I didn't avoid his gaze. “What have you been planning under my roof? You're pretending not to sign an agreement that warranted me to take your pups to the hospital?”
I chuckled and ran my tongue across my upper lip. “Maybe, you should tell them all why you wouldn't want my pups treated at first until I sign an agreement, and why you kept poisoning my meal so I would lose my senses. Did you think I was a fool? Imagine eating poison and then breastfeeding my pups, yet you said to my face that you don't hurt pups, no matter how cruel you are. Could you say something now?”
He barely blinked, his clenched fist slowly loosening.
I could see how shocked he was, and how he didn't expect any of this.
“Just so you know that I'm not returning with you. I will take care of myself and my pups henceforth. Thank you for the times I spent under your roof in panic." I said with a soft smile as I stood, my pups lying peacefully in my arms.
At that moment, Clement showed up with Miriam and bowed to me. They carried each of the pups, and I grabbed my handbag, then we began leaving.
I had lost my cell phone and even the burner phone in that fire, but that wasn't as important as our lives. What I loved most was how the gathering went smoothly. I so much loved those councils.
“Has the apartment been tidied up?” I asked Clement, and he nodded. “I do not need any servant with me. They should wait patiently until their king recovers.”
He opened the door, and I climbed in, then Miriam followed, with the pups lying comfortably on our legs.
I had passed through so much misery recently, and I really needed to take a long rest.
I knew so well that Ramsey would be fine again, and Jonathan would lose completely.
Clement drove us to the apartment I had rented for just a month, because I didn't want either the company or the palace unlocked for Jonathan to intrude. We all alighted and went in, and it was spacious enough to contain us until it expired.
“Have you been hearing from Hunter and other bikers?” I asked Clement, and he nodded. “They don't seem concerned about what's been happening.”
He smiled, shaking his head. “They are! Just that you've only been hearing from me directly. They are the ones guarding the company, the palace, and the king.”
“I see!”
They are really trying, and now I see every benefit that Ramsey trained them all.
“What about Alfred? He's the spy amid them.” I said, walking around the room.
He waited for some time and responded, “I think they let him out so he could be of use, and when the king recovers, he would know what to do with him,” he explained, his palms in his pockets.
It felt so good being in this apartment alone, with no fear of Jonathan's mum getting in.
I knew her soul wouldn't rest well, but that would be a discussion for another day.

Jonathan~~
My car was the only thing in my name now. I lost everything I had worked hard for; the building contained a lot of documents. But I didn't want to bother much or even grieve the loss of my mum, because I needed to get to the palace and the company I'd been working for.
And now everything turned upside down for me.
I couldn't believe Sandra used me again, and this time, much darker than in the past. She was all on her own this time, yet she made me feel so useless to even myself.
How would my late mum feel when she sees that I lost everything despite how much she tried for me to conquer? The thought of her caused tears to gather in my eyes. How will I be able to fend for myself now?
I felt so empty, just like someone who had nothing but his soul left. I had sacked all my men as they were all useless and couldn't save a single soul in that fire outbreak.
Every other person there wasn't my problem, but my mother. I couldn't even come to understand how such a fire that burned down the building started, and how Sandra was able to survive with her pups.
I had thought she could be behind it, but she didn't look like she would take such a risk when she knew she had her pups to protect. I thought so hard of any other person that could make such a plan, and I recalled Eden.
In remembrance of her, I parked my car at the side of the road and began dialing her contact. I had abandoned her because I thought I'd have it all through Sandra, so she was utterly useless.
Could she have planned to bring me down since I dumped her?
After several rings, she didn't pick up the call, so I drove off to her father's residence since she still stayed there. It was quite a long ride until I arrived, only to meet her parents arguing in the compound because of her daughter.
I stepped closely, my face contorted, "Where's Eden?” I asked, expecting them to give me a thorough response, but the mum rather ignored me and began making her way into the building. “I have unfinished business with your daughter. Where is she?”
The clan chief gamma turned around finally. He made a long face, as though irritated by the sight of me. “What do you want from her after dumping her? Didn't you ally with your mum to have her rejected after all her efforts on you?”
“We should talk about that later. So, where is she?”
“Even if she's here, I won't let you see her. Gently leave my compound,” the man gestured and turned his back on me.
I took a good look at myself to be sure I didn't look unkempt, words so heavy to leave my lips.
Did he just command me to leave his compound?
I was trying to understand what he meant when two giant men walked closer to me and hurled me by my arms. They pulled me away from the compound like I was an animal, and all I could do was stare at the locked gate with my lips dropped in shock, eyes widening…yet no single word could come out.
