Chapter 72: Unconcious
Chapter 72: Unconcious
Nobody moved. The noise around them seemed to stop for a moment. In front of them was Cosette, lifeless.
Aslan kept staring at her. Blood kept flowing from the bullet wound. Miss Farrah ran towards the commotion from the property's entrance, followed by Kieran. In the silence that fell, they knew they might be too late.
Miss Farrah was busy with the previous attack on Elwood. She didn't notice her brother's plan. Elwood was left in Kieran’s care. So when Miss Farrah found out where the alpha was, she immediately went to this place.
Miss Farrah stopped running when she saw what was happening. Cosette was in her brother's arms, covered in blood.
"No..." she whispered quietly. "It can't be..."
From Aslan’s blank eyes to his face completely losing all expression, Miss Farrah knew exactly what this silence meant.
Aslan stood up. Miss Farrah shouted, "Kieran, get a hold of Aslan!"
Kieran immediately went to Aslan. So did the remaining warriors. The humans didn't know what was going on anymore. In front of them was the lifeless granddaughter of their leader, shot by their own weapon.
The warriors held back the furious Aslan. He was slipping. He was out of control.
Cosette’s grandfather kept staring. He dropped the gun on the ground. He didn't believe what he was seeing. His granddaughter was still alive. He knew she was still alive.
"Take her... Take my granddaughter to the hospital!"
The hunters around them snapped back to reality. The warriors were busy calming their alpha. One of the hunters picked up Cosette. Aslan struggled violently. He let out a growl that could be heard throughout the whole clan.
Miss Farrah couldn't do anything but watch what was happening. She felt helpless, especially when they took Cosette away from them. She had no right to keep her. Cosette wasn't theirs. Miss Farrah didn't know if she was still alive. She was hoping she was still alive.
She reached out for Cosette as they took her away, but she stopped herself. Kieran also did nothing but stare as the people carrying her moved away.
Because they knew that at that moment, it was better to give Cosette to the clan. They could take her to the hospital. It might not be too late. They had to let her go, no matter how painful it was to watch.
They failed. They didn't get her back. And things ended up in a bloodbath. Miss Farrah felt weak. But it seemed like everything wasn't over yet. They were still on the clan's territory.
The leader of the clan was gone, but some of the hunters still surrounded them. The warriors were too few to fight.
"Don't make any attacks."
Miss Farrah turned to the bloody man who said this. He walked closer to them. He came from inside the mansion. Even though he had trouble standing straight, he forced himself to face his companions. "That is an order."
Some people slightly bowed when they saw him. "Sir Yuan."
Yuan faced the hybrids. Kieran stared at him. He looked familiar. They had met once before at Elwood.
"You need to leave," Yuan said. "Right now, staying in the same place won't help the situation."
Miss Farrah didn't know if she could trust the guy. She knew he had a point. On the other hand, he was the only one who remained calm and she could talk to him.
"It's better if you go back to your town first. Whatever happens, I promise to let you know."
"I understand."
She decided to trust him.
"We will go back to our town. I hope you keep your promise." Miss Farrah’s voice cracked. "And I hope you do everything to save Cosette."
"You have my word."
Miss Farrah took a deep breath. As a Crimson, she had to make a decision. She turned to Kieran. He nodded, signaling the group's retreat.
"Fix everything. We're going back."
Miss Farrah went to her brother, who was struggling in the warrior’s grasp. A bitter smile appeared on her face.
"I know you might not forgive me for what I'm about to do, but this is what you need right now."
She grabbed Aslan’s neck. She bit him. Aslan struggled, but he gradually weakened until he lost consciousness. Aslan fell to the ground. Miss Farrah stared at the silver moon above to stop her tears from falling. This long, bloody night should end here.

Cosette was taken to the town's hospital. The doctors immediately attended to her when they saw who the people with her were. Their clan was known throughout the town.
The doctors told them that no one could go into the emergency room. The clan leader couldn't do anything but wait. Even at that moment, his shock hadn't worn off. He wasn't himself.
The hybrids' side completely left. Yuan led the cleanup and then followed them to the hospital. He found his grandfather waiting with some of the guards.
"Sir Yuan."
"Where is she?"
They pointed to the Emergency Room. Yuan cursed. His grandfather was silent. It was almost morning when the doctor came out of the room. Yuan immediately approached him.
"How's my cousin?"
"She's in critical condition."
Yuan didn't know if he should be thankful that Cosette was alive or feel weak because she was still in critical condition.
"We've removed the bullet. She's under comatose right now."
Yuan clenched his jaw at what he heard.
"There's one more thing you need to know."
That's when the clan leader came back to the present.
"The patient is four weeks pregnant."

It was afternoon when Cosette was moved to a room in the hospital. The only thing that could be heard was the sound of the machines connected to Cosette’s body. No one spoke between Yuan and his grandfather. Yuan remembered what the doctor had said last.
"If this continues, both mother and child will be in danger. A body in a coma can't support the child."
Yuan faced his grandfather.
"They have the right to know. The child in Cosette’s womb is their alpha's child."
The clan leader didn't say anything. He stared at Cosette.
"Don't let anyone in here," he ordered before leaving the room.
Yuan had only seen his grandfather like this now. He had always been dignified, sure of his every move and plans. But regret and confusion were etched on his face. The bullet that could have killed two people important to him came from his own hands.
