Chapter 98 98

Chapter 98 98

Draven's POV

"Katherine, I need you to stay in the mansion for a few more days," I commanded. "Look after Hazel; keep a watchful eye on her. I don't want her to be alone during this time."

She hesitated for a moment, her eyes searching mine for reassurance. Eventually, she nodded, accepting her assignment. "Alright, Alpha Draven. I'll stay and ensure Hazel and Ashe's safety.”

But I'll have to leave tomorrow morning and bring a few of my assistants and my work stuff. Is it possible to take a few maids with me for assistance?" She asked.

"You can," I assured her. "Thank you, Katherine. Your support means a lot to me." With a nod, Katherine left the room, leaving me alone with my thoughts.

The weight of the situation settled heavily on my shoulders, and I knew that the days ahead would be filled with uncertainty and challenges, mostly for Hazel and Ashe.

As I made my way back to my room, my mind raced with questions. What did this mean for our future? How would the pack react when they eventually learned the truth? And most importantly, what was the nature of this unborn child?

Could what Katherine is saying actually become the truth about Ashe? Would that explain why the moon goddess was so involved with Hazel? I entered the room to find Maddy sitting by Hazel's side, her eyes filled with concern.

She looked up at me, her expression hopeful yet tinged with fear. "Is everything alright?" Maddy asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

I walked over to her and placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "Everything will be fine, Maddy. We're taking care of Hazel, and I won't let anything happen to her or the baby."

"I believe you, Draven. I saw how worried and frightened you were when Hazel suddenly lost consciousness, and I can outright say that you definitely love and care for her.

I completely trust that you care a lot about her and will continue doing so."

Hazel's POV

I sat at the edge of the bed, staring into outer space and thinking about Ashe and the dream I just had recently. I wondered if these nightmares and midnight fevers were affecting his health too.

I want him to be happy and healthy. I hoped he was doing well. "Hazel, we need to talk," I suddenly heard Draven's say behind me. I didn't even notice when he entered the room. His voice was quite serious, yet gentle.

I looked at him, sensing the tension in the air as he gazed down at me, trying to mask his emotions. He had been doing that recently, and I've been uncomfortable with it. "What is it, Draven ?" I ask

He hesitated for a moment before continuing. "Physician Katherine and I had a conversation a few days ago about the baby, and we suspected stranger things that had been happening with you. And we think we might have a clue as to what's going on."

My heart raced, filled with a mix of apprehension and curiosity. "What do you mean, Draven ? What have you found out?"

Draven took my hand, his grip firm yet gentle. "Hazel, we think the baby might be a djinn." He suddenly said A djinn? What's a djinn?

"Could you please explain? I don't really know what that word means." I confessed. "I thought as much; even I had no idea there were some of our kind referred to as djinns. Djinns are werewolf pups born with extraordinary abilities.”

“They are nurtured and watched over by the moon goddess and other unseen forces for their own safety until they reach a specific age." I listened intently, my mind racing. "What kind of abilities, Draven? What are you saying?"

Draven  took a deep breath before continuing. "We think the baby might be a werewolf prodigy. One with abilities that go beyond what we've ever seen before."

I sat there, stunned, my mind struggling to comprehend the implications of his words. "A werewolf prodigy?" I repeated, my voice barely above a whisper. "But... how? What does this mean?"

Draven 's voice was filled with compassion as he spoke. "I don't know, Hazel. But I do know that it explains why the moon goddess lurks around you and tries her best to protect you and the baby.”

“It explains the nightmares, the fever, and everything else that's been happening. And it means we need to be extra careful to protect the baby and you at all costs."

I nodded, feeling a sense of unease settle over me. I watched Draven  closely, and I knew he wasn't telling me everything, but this much feels too much to process at the moment.

"What do we do now, Draven ?" I asked, my voice shaky yet determined. "How do we protect the baby and ourselves?"

Draven 's eyes met mine, his gaze unwavering. "You don't need to worry about that, Hazel. As long as the moon goddess is still watching over us, she'll make sure the baby is fine. For us, we'll do whatever it takes, Hazel.”

“I'm keeping this a secret from the pack members and Maddy for now, until we have more answers. And we'll ensure that the baby is born safely and that it receives all the protection and care it needs."

I squeezed his hand, feeling a sense of gratitude and trust. "Thank you, Draven . For everything. Thinking back, I've never felt this sense of security with someone as I do with you. You've always been here with me, and I appreciate it."

Draven  smiled, his love shining through his eyes. "Of course I am. You are my mate. And I will always protect what is mine."

Maddy's POV

I woke up with a smile on my face, feeling refreshed and ready for the day ahead. The sunlight peeked through the curtains, casting a warm glow into the room.

It was my first morning in this magnificent mansion, and I couldn't wait to explore and see what the day had in store for me.

My mind still found its way back to Zac, but I convinced myself that it'd be better if I didn't think of him at all. I wouldn't want to start such a fine day with a glum expression on my face.

I stretched my arms above my head and yawned, then hopped out of bed and made my way to the bathroom.

The marble floors felt cool beneath my feet as I turned on the faucet, letting the water flow and fill the bathtub. I added a few drops of the lavender-scented bubble bathbi had found and watched as the room filled with its calming aroma.

I really loved the scent and gases in the container for a while longer, wondering what product it was.

After taking a few pictures of the container, I carefully stepped into the tub, feeling the warm water envelop my body. I sank down, letting the bubbles tickle my skin as I enjoyed the soothing sensation.

I washed my hair with the sweet-smelling shampoo, massaging my scalp gently. Then, I lathered up my body with the foamy soap, relishing in the way it made my skin feel soft and clean.

After a leisurely soak, I grabbed a fluffy towel and wrapped it around myself, stepping out of the tub. I dried myself off, taking my time to make sure I was completely dry before slipping into a cosy robe.

With a contented sigh, I left the bathroom, ready to start my day. The first plan was to find the perfect clothes to wear and then go off to see Hazel and have a word with her.

There've been a lot of secrets I could feel haven't been revealed to me, and I wondered if she would be at least more willing to give me a little insight, at least the tip of the iceberg.

As I entered my room, I noticed the closet was filled with a wide variety of clothes. Draven had made sure that I had everything I needed. The maids had bought new clothes for me, and I was excited to see what they had chosen.

I approached the closet, pushing the doors open to reveal rows upon rows of dresses, skirts, and blouses. The sight was overwhelming, and I couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement. I decided to start with a dress, thinking it would be perfect for exploring the mansion.

I tried on dress after dress, twirling in front of the full-length mirror to see how they looked on me. There were so many beautiful options, each with its own unique style and color. Some were vibrant and playful, while others were elegant and sophisticated.

Finally, I found a casual dress that caught my eye. It was a soft blue colour with a flowy skirt and delicate floral patterns. I loved the way it made me feel light and carefree.

With a smile, I slipped into the dress, making sure it fit perfectly. I felt like a princess. Well, in someone else's palace, I thought with a sigh.

Once I was dressed, I left my room, excitement bubbling within me. As I stepped into the hallway, I realised that I hadn't familiarised myself with the layout of the mansion.

It was enormous, and I had no idea where I was going. I could get lost and have no idea how to get back. My phone is currently turned off on purpose by me, so sad wouldn't have a way of tracking me.

Just as I was starting to feel a little lost, I spotted a maid walking down the hall. She wore a neat uniform and had a friendly smile on her face. I hurried over to her, feeling relieved to have found someone who could help me.

"Excuse me," I said, tugging at the maid's sleeve. She looked up at me calmly. "Could you please direct me to Hazel's room? She's my best friend, and I'd love to see her."

The maid paused and looked down at me, her warm eyes filled with kindness. "Of course, Miss Maddy. Miss Hazel's room is on the top floor; just take a right turn and then go up ahead until you find a black polished door.

Please do be cautious to knock first, as it is also Alpha Draven 's room." She explained. "Thank you." I said she had been quite helpful, and she replied with a calm smile.

Following the maid's directions, I set off in search of Hazel's room. But as I made my way through the mansion, I was just about to ascend the stairs when something caught my eye.

Through a window, I glimpsed a beautiful garden just outside. The vibrant colours and the sweet scent of flowers beckoned me, making it hard to decide between seeing Hazel or taking a stroll in the garden and exploring nature a bit more.

After a moment of indecision, my curiosity got the better of me. I decided to explore the garden first, hoping that Hazel wouldn't mind waiting a little longer.
