Chapter 95 95

Chapter 95 95
Draven's POV
I had my head bowed low and my fingers clenched when a familiar scent filled my nostrils. I looked up in confusion and followed the scent, trying to find where it was coming from. I could never mistake that scent—the scent of roses in the summertime.
I quickly got out of the dining room and out of the living room and out to the garden outside. I tracked the scent out to the side of the house and found a lady and just by looking at her I knew who she was
Maddy!
The lady Jason talked about. She was the one that helped him escape. She looked quite dishevelled and out of breath as she kept panting uncomfortably.
I wondered what she was doing here, but that's not what caught my attention. Standing next to her was Hazel. She was also panting, as though she had run for way too long.
"Draven" Hazel quickly rushed over to my side and embraced me lovingly. She seemed to have missed me quite a lot, and my knowledge of that filled my heart with immense happiness even in this situation.
My happiness was reflected on my face as I smiled brightly. "I missed you," she said, whining like a little child begging for candy.
"I missed you too, but how is it that you are... how are you here? Why's Maddyhere too?" I asked as I got out of her koala bear hug.
"Well, I had found that Zac had successfully captured Hazel and helped her escape as soon as I had the chance to," she said, gesturing at Hazel.
"Yes, Draven, Maddy riskedd everything to help me escape. Thank you so much, Maddy." Hazel said while looking towards Maddy with gratitude.
"Hazel I-... I-"
"I'm sorry to ruin this moment, but I'm completely out of breath and also dehydrated. Can I have some water?" She asked, but before I could respond, she immediately slipped past us and ran into the mansion in search of a drink.
"Maddy is one of a kind, isn't she?" Hazel said with an excited smile on my face.
"Yeah, she is," I said in a small voice. I knew Maddy was doing a lot for us, but I do feel like it's a bit too much now. I mean, she even openly helped Hazel this time.
She knows Zac wouldn't spare her life, and she wouldn't prioritise Hazel that much at the expense of her own life. "What is it?" Hazel suddenly asked, dragging me out of my trail of thoughts.
"Oh, it's nothing. You're here now, and I'm so happy.
"I'm hungry, so can we go in to get something to eat?" Hazel must've noticed the change in my aura after Maddy had gone in, but luckily she chose to ignore it. I nodded calmly, and we both went inside together.
"Look, I was just about to eat some pizza. Would you like some?" I asked her.
"I would like some," Maddy suddenly said with an unusually loud and mannerless voice. I chuckled as Hazel immediately took the pizza away from me and went to sit in the dining room with Maddy.
I exchanged awkward glances with Maddy before taking her to the dining room. We all ate in silence, and once we were done, we sat together in the living room to discuss the next plan against Zac.
This was also a way for me to find out who's side Maddy is truly on. “So what's the plan?" Hazel asked. I met her gaze before exchanging glances with Maddy, whom I knew had been waiting for my word on this.
Probably to pry and find out useful information for Zac. "Hazel, you'll stay out of this one," I said calmly.
"What?" She suddenly said, sounding both stunned and furious. "It's for your good. Zac knows you are my weakness right now, and kidnapping and threatening your life and safety is the easiest way to get to me.”
“He's going to use you as a form of weakness on me," I explained as clearly as I possibly could.
"Wait a sec. Oh, so am I a dead weight now?" She had begun to overreact. "That's not what I meant, Hazel; it's just that…"
"On the contrary," Maddy spoke up, getting both our attention. "You will be needing Hazel's help, Alpha Draven." I looked towards Maddy in confusion; there was no way I'd let Hazel get anywhere close to Zac, no matter the situation.
And what is this Maddy saying? Could this be part of the plot? "No," I insisted, my tone authoritative, leaving room for further arguments. "Yes," Hazel argued, glaring at me.
"Listen first, Alpha Draven. On our way back here, we had to get undressed and then shift into our wolf forms. I noticed her fur was…”
She kept looking between Hazel and me as she said that. She was expecting a shocked reaction but seemed surprised that we were already aware of it.
"Well, moving further. From my assessment of things, it isn't as simple as it seems. I had come into contact with that rogue werewolf leader, and he is exceptionally dangerous. So dangerous that Zac looked small standing next to him.”
“His aura is... something else," she explained while I kept quiet and analysed what she had said. It is true that Richard's aura had suddenly changed into a more dark and menacing one.
"Um, I have something to reveal too, actually." Hazel spoke up, earning my attention now. Was there something she wasn't telling me? Why?
"Well, you see, Draven... the moon goddess had warned me earlier on about a greater war to be fought” She said....
“You must relay this message to your friend, Alpha Draven. Tell him to be prepared for a greater war ahead. Not everything is as it seems, and he must be wary of his actions. He seems to be creating more enemies than allies."
"Yes, I know that. You already told me about it." I reminded her. She let out a gentle smile and placed her hand on mine, carefully securing my hand under her palm.
"Yes, but I didn't tell you that; before that, I was given a premonition by the moon goddess."
“I have a hunch, though, that it may be connected with Zac and this fun guy, the rogue werewolf. Whatever connection it has, we have to find out more about it and end things quickly." Hazel said it with full conviction.
"You're right, Hazel. We have to find the truth fast." Just then I shifted my attention to Maddy, realising that she had been awfully quiet for a while now. I looked at her shocked and stunned face in confusion.
Hazel suddenly gripped tightly onto her stomach and yelled in pain.
