Chapter 88 88

Chapter 88 88
Zac's POV
I sat alone in my room, surrounded by the darkness of my room. I felt lost thoughts as my eyes zeroed in on a particular space in my room. Weeks had passed since I last made a move against the Diamond Pack.
Draven, that traitor, had remained stubbornly vigilant, refusing to let down his guard. But this time, I had a new plan, a brilliant plan that would surely help me achieve my aim of destroying Draven.
No more battles with armies; no more brute force. This time, I would outsmart Draven with my cunning intellect. It seems I had underestimated my dear Maddy for a while now; she had been right all along.
There was no need for unnecessary bloodshed, at least not yet. A wicked grin crept upon my face as I imagined my moment of triumph—the satisfaction of crushing my enemies beneath my feet.
The mere thought of it sent a chilling sensation down my spine. A maniacal laughter escaped my lips, echoing through the silent room. Oh, how I relished the power that surged within me!
Just as I revelled in my own wickedness, the door creaked open, and Maddy stepped into the room. I could see the guilt in her eyes; she must want to apologise to me for what she had done.
Being on Jason’s side is simply going against me, and I know this woman definitely wouldn't want to be against me. I have her right in my palms. She approached me cautiously, her voice trembling as she spoke.
"Zac, I'm so sorry." Maddy whispered, her voice filled with sorrow and regret. She knelt down next to me, her small frame trembling.
I raised a hand and gently stroked her hair, trying to calm her nerves. "Shh, Maddy, relax," I said, my voice laced with a sugar-coated sweetness. "I will forgive you, but under one condition."
Maddy's eyes widened in fear, and her body grew tense. She knew my conditions were never easy to fulfill. She stammered, "What is it, Zac?"
My smile turned even more sinister, and I leaned in closer, relishing in her fear. "You must swear absolute loyalty to me," I whispered, my voice dripping with malice.
"You must do everything I say, without question or hesitation." Maddy's breath hitched, and she trembled. She knew the consequences of refusing me.
With a shaky voice, she finally spoke, "I swear, Zac. I will be loyal to you, no matter what." A twisted sense of satisfaction washed over me as Maddy made her vow.
She had fallen into my trap, willingly stepping into the web of my control. Oh, how I relished this power—this control over the hearts and minds of others. I released a low, chilling laugh, relishing in the fear that was evident in Maddy's eyes.
"Good. Remember, Maddy, loyalty is a precious commodity, and betrayal will be met with severe consequences," I warned, my voice filled with a chilling finality.
Maddy nodded, her expression a mix of fear and resignation. She had made her choice, and now she would have to live with the consequences. I continued to stroke her hair, a twisted sense of comfort mingling with the darkness of my soul.
As the room grew darker around us, I knew that my plan was set in motion. Draven would never see it coming. And it will leave him in total shock and submissiveness to me.
Draven's POV
From my seat in the meeting room, I stared at the map sprawled out on the table before me. Weeks had passed since our last encounter with Zac, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease.
He had been eerily quiet, his usual audacious moves absent from the battlefield. It was as if he had vanished into thin air, leaving us to question his intentions.
Jason entered the room, his brow furrowed with concern. He approached me cautiously, as he had his eyes fixed on the map. "Alpha Draven, it's been weeks, and Zac hasn't made a single move.”
“Our soldiers are growing restless, and some are suggesting that we should give up." I scoffed at the notion, my sixth sense refusing to accept that notion. "Give up? That's not something Zac would ever consider," I replied with a sinister smile.
"He's cunning, Jason. His ego won't allow him to surrender or give up. We cannot underestimate him." Jason nodded in understanding.
"You're right, Alpha Draven. His aim is to eliminate Hazel, as he feels he has been betrayed, but then giving up all of a sudden after just the first strike doesn't seem so... Blood Moon Pack-like. Well, from the news I've gathered about them.”
I leaned back in my chair, my eyes fixed on the map before me. "We must remain vigilant, Jason. Keep our soldiers trained and on high alert.
Zac may be plotting something big—something really big for him to be this quiet—and we need to be prepared for whatever he has in store." Jason's face brightened with determination. "I will do my best, Alpha Draven.”
“The soldiers will be ready, and our defences will be impenetrable. No matter what that cunning Alpha has planned, it will flip just like his personality."
As Jason turned to leave the room, a thought struck me, causing me to call him back. "Wait, Jason. I have another idea," I said, a glint of understanding in my eyes.
"Come with me. Let's address our warriors directly." Jason looked puzzled but nodded affirmatively. We left the mansion, and although I wished to say a little goodbye to Hazel, I decided to just leave and come back soon.
As we entered the bustling training grounds, warriors sparred with one another, their determination evident in every strike. They were all in their wolf forms.
I climbed onto a platform, my voice ringing out across the field. The warriors paused, their attention shifting towards me. "Warriors of our beloved Diamond Pack!" I called out, my voice filled with unwavering resolve.
"I know you've been waiting for the next battle, itching for a chance to confront the enemies once again. But let me remind you, victory is not granted to those who grow impatient or complacent."
The warriors' eyes locked onto mine, their wolf gazes filled with determination and loyalty. "Zac may have retreated for now, but that doesn't mean he won't strike again," I continued, my voice growing stronger.
"We know him well, don't we? Alpha Zac of the Blood Moon Pack is very well known for his tactics in war. He is known for his arrogance and his twisted mind. He won't rest until he has gotten what he wants."
A collective growl of determination rose from the warriors, their paws stomping the ground. "So, my fellow warriors, we shall not falter. We shall not lower our guard," I declared, my voice echoing with conviction.
"We shall continue to train, to sharpen our skills, and to be ready for whatever Zac throws at us. Violence will be ours, but it will require unyielding resolve."
The warriors erupted into cheers and howls.
Hazel's POV
I sat on my bed, my eyes glued to my phone screen. I had been on my phone all day, reading an interesting novel I got off the web. The novel had me glued to my phone screen, and I was loving it.
"What are you doing?" I heard a cold, dark tone. I raised my head but couldn't see anything; the room was dark, and I realised that the day was gone already.
"Who...Draven?.." I called, but he didn't answer. His voice didn't seem like Draven's either. I heard him open the washroom door and walk in without saying a word. I got down from the bed and got my slippers on before walking to the wall.
My hand searched for the on-off switch for a while but soon found it and flipped it on. The brightness of the light blinded me for a few seconds. I dropped my phone atop the dressing table and lay tiredly on the bed.
My muscles were asleep and needed to be energised, but my eyes felt weak, and I needed some shut-eye time. I heard the bathroom door open but remained in my position.
I pretended to be asleep for a reason that remained unknown to me. I felt someone move me in place so I'd be comfortable in bed, and I knew it was most definitely Draven.
I felt the other side of the bed sink in and shut my eyes tighter. I acted asleep while changing my position in bed. I already felt an awkward sign of danger when he touched me there, and now, as I thought harder, I realised his finger was cold—way too cold.
