Chapter 43 43
Third Person POV
"Sara" Adrian croaked as he tried sitting up on the bed. He looked at the priestess of the pack; he remembered when his uncle had brought her to the pack.
He had ignored her then because she didn't do anything except stay locked up in her house. "What are you doing here?" He asked her suspiciously; he had enough reason to suspect her because he never knew the true intentions of Sara.
And uncle had brought her himself, which made trusting her even more difficult. "Tending to your wounds," she said with a bright smile. She turned away from him and faced the girl with bright red hair.
"You know you could be nicer; I keep telling you," she said to her, but got cut off by her. "You don't have to nag at me with every chance you get, Mom," Alice said.
Adrian's eyes widened. He looked at Sara and then back to Alice and couldn't see a shred of resemblance. Sara didn't look bothered by the fact that she was just called a mother.
Adrian knew she looked well over the age to have a child, but he had never seen her with one and never bothered to ask her why; in his defence, he held no interest in her.
"She's your daughter?" Adrian asked as he swallowed hard. He suddenly felt self-conscious in front of Alice. He looked at Alice intensely, but she didn't seem to notice, and if she did, she simply didn't care.
"I'm afraid so," Sara said with a smile. "We have a dramatic past, but she comes to check on her old, ageing mother once in a while," she continued. She looked at Alice, bending low and kissing her forehead.
Alice didn't move a muscle, like she hadn't just been kissed. Adrian was surprised by the unnatural relationship between them and even more curious about their past.
A sudden thought came to his mind, something he wasn't ready to accept. "Is she also a... priestess?" He asked carefully: the rogue term for priestess was witches; to show respect, it was preferred to call them priestess.
Sara shook her head. "No, she's neither a witch nor a human," she said casually with a smile. She looked towards Adrian as if expecting an answer from him; he looked at her second guessing his original thought.
"No," he said softly under his breath. "She's a wolf?" He asked in surprise, and Sara's smile widened at his realisation. She played with Alice's hair while he watched them in shock.
"How's that even possible?" Adrian stammered.
"What's the matter? You have a problem with me being a wolf?" Alice asked, shooting a stern look at him. He shifted back slightly because of her glaring.
"Calm down, Alice." Sara placed her hand on Alice's back. "I'm sorry; she gets very sensitive when it has to do with me," she said.
Adrian shook his head slightly. "No, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to intrude on your past," he responded. Sara cocked her head slightly.
"Intrude?" She asked. Adrian nodded. "Isn't that the reason she's upset?" He asked cautiously. Sara looked at him for a few moments then laughed lightly.
"No child, she's upset because she hates it when people question her origin; it's a rather uncommon thing," Sara said calmly. Alice shifted uncomfortably in her seat, then looked at her mother and then Adrian.
"So we have to tell him?" Alice asked, ignoring the glances from Adrian. Sara nodded slightly. "You were the one that saved him; they'll come looking for him and asking questions," she replied. Alice looked away in frustration.
"What's so uncommon about her origins?" Adrian asked curiously; he couldn't think of anything that could surprise him and births; the most he had heard was a Luna getting pregnant for a Beta, but that was a story for another day.
"Well, Alice here," she said proudly as she stroked her hair once more. "Is the child of a werewolf and a witch?" she announced. Alice looked away embarrassed, but Adrian's jaw slacked open completely.
He heard what was said, but it took him time to fully comprehend it.
"Then..."
"That means you and her?" He said, pointing at the both of them; his arms ached as he made sudden movements, but he didn't care right now.
"Yes, it's exactly as you think; she's my child, and her father is a wolf," Sara replied carefully. She eventually took a seat and sat down where she could face the both of them.
Adrian sat where he was completely shocked; it was the first case he had ever heard about a wolf and a witch ever having a child.
"How was this even possible?" Adrian asked as he considered the possibility of this ever happening in the history of werewolves. "Because the moon goddess decided it," Alice responded instead. Sara just smiled at the answer and left it as it was.
Adrian, on the other hand, saw the tension rise from Alice; he knew that the constant questions he kept asking weren't making things easier for her to answer and decided to change the topic to something much easier to talk about.
Adrian cleared his throat and tried to maintain some form of composure; he tried sitting up straighter, but his bruised back wouldn't let him stretch in the slightest.
"So, about my uncle," Adrian said, changing the conversation. He saw Alice relax a bit at the mention of that. He looked at Sara and saw that her face had become very grim; her smile had faded away.
"I heard what happened from Alice; it seemed your uncle is okay for now, but the longer it takes, the more dangerous he'll become," she said in a low tone.
Adrian looked at her utterly confused; he had no idea what she was talking about; the only thing he remembered was how his uncle had turned into a complete beast, nearly killing him in the process.
Sara looked at me for a moment, as if just understanding my confusion, then she slapped her head slightly before she spoke, "Adrian?" She asked. "Yes," he replied, unsure of what she wanted to say.
"Has your uncle told you anything?" She slowly dropped her hand down to her side. "Anything about what? I think I already know everything that has to do with uncle," he replied, feeling quite sure. Sara looked at him with doubt.
"Did your uncle ever tell you the reason why he left in the first place and what happened with your mother?" She asked him once more.
Adrian's expression instantly darkened; he never liked talking about his mother, but he tried to control his emotions. "No, and what does that matter?" Adrian said carelessly.
"What matters is that he abandoned his only nephew," he said as pain slowly seeped into him.
"Hmmm," Sara said as though lost in deep thoughts. She looked up at the ceiling and sighed in regret as though she was feeling overwhelmed by the immature decisions of a certain person.
"What's the matter, Sara?" Adrian asked as he saw her expression becoming more grim, while Alice played with her phone by the corner, totally uninterested by what was happening there.
He still has a difficult time ignoring her; something about her just kept drawing him closer to her. "Ooh well," she started. "If he hasn't told you, then it's not in my place to tell you anything of the sort," she said calmly.
After a few moments of silence and high tensions, she stood up from her seat and walked towards her door as if realizing she had something to do.
"Hey, where are you going?" Adrian said as he tried standing up, he struggled by finding himself on his feet; he ignored all the intense pain he felt in that moment, but Sara was already out of the door.
"Sara," he shouted as he staggered towards the door, but he saw Alice appear by his side. He ignored her and tried opening the door. He felt her hands on his back and forth for a daily second.
He felt woozy. He blinked and saw himself back on the bed.

Hazel hurriedly ran to the only place she knew she could find help for both men; she has to find Sara now or never; she had no idea where Adrian could be, nor did she know where Draven could be.
She ran alone, and in a hurry, Noah had offered to follow her, but she insisted against it. She arrived at Sara's house just in time to see her standing outside her house with a smile on her face.
She felt tired from all the running and only managed to say a single word. "Adrian," she gassed out.
"He's inside, basement," she said with a smile. Hazel looked at her shocked; she didn't know if she could take her serious or not, but she bolted into the house, rushing down to the basement.
She pushed the door open and saw Adrian laying in bed, bandaged almost everywhere on his body, but he was alive and breathing, but something was wrong.
Hazel saw a woman mounting Adrian, holding both his hands down; she had bright red hair.
