Chapter 32 32
Jason’s POV
I fell exhausted to the ground in the dead silent dungeon, the sound of cracklingchains mixed with the faint sound of my heavy breathing the only noise that could be heard.
Earlier on, Maddy had dropped by and slipped a note to me about Zac's secret importation of plain silver bullets. I immediately mind-linked with Alicia.
It was to inform her about them and also order her to go to Alpha Draven's palace and aid him in defending the pack. I truly hoped that everything would go well.
I had already gotten the news earlier on that Alpha Draven had finally awoken and that put me at ease. I wondered how things were holding up over there. I feel so useless at the moment as I can't fight alongside my pack but that'll just be for now.
I need Maddy to continue being my inside man while I convey my messages to the Alpha and other pack guardians. That way I won't feel completely useless.
The sound of the gate parting dragged me out of my reverie when I heard the gates of the dungeons open. Who walked in was none other than another pack guard of the Blood Moon pack that I dislike.
He is even more devilish than the other one to me. He carried with him a whip but this whip is quite different from others. The whip is made of strong clothing with thousands of tiny needles on it.
The needles on the whip were so many that one wouldn't find a space to place his finger if he were to hold onto it except if held it from the head.
As he walked closer and closer to me, the needles of the whip made contact and left trails as the whip glided through the floor. I kept my head bowed low as I watched him approach me.
I knew what he planned to do, his main aim wasn't really to whip me but to intimidate. From the little I know about Lance, he loved intimidating his victims and he derives joy in seeing the terror and fear in their eyes as he lashes out with his whip.
The cries seem to feed his ego, which reminds me of his Alpha. "So... Jason.." he called sarcastically like he always does. "Are you ready to plead with me to be nice to you?”
“You know it doesn't take much for me to spare you just a little.... all you need to do is admit that you are in pain and beg me to stop. A single please would be easy and I'll be prepared to make a deal with you." He drawled
"Aren't you tired of saying the same lines over and over against 22 times in just half a day?" I asked sarcastically. "Arrogant " and with that I got a huge lash at my back.
I felt the painful piercing of all the needles in my back all at once, but the pain had just begun as it only increased when he dragged the whip back to himself and the needles tore through my skin.
"Ugh!" Unable to bear it, I let out a grunt and immediately rejected it. I needed to hide my discomfort and mask my pain. I cannot come out weak in the enemy's domain, Alpha Draven would be disappointed.
And it would be a great shame to the White Walkers Pack. And I for sure should not be the one to bring that shame, I cannot show fear amid the enemies.
"Aw... did that hurt?" I heard him ask. I wasn't looking at him but I could tell that there was most definitely a smirk plastered on his disgusting face that for sure dragged up to his scarred cheeks.
"Not as much as looking at your disgusting scarred face. You should seriously stay away from little kids.”
“Even I thought you were a green goblin or the lockness monster when you first walked in here." I said chuckling myself by how enraged that would make this egoistic fool of a wolf.
"Argh.. I hate you arrogant wolf!" He tried to slash back but by the scream and cry I heard from my side emanating from him, I could tell he must have definitely hurt himself instead, and that only fueled the urge to laugh at his stupor.
"Did you hurt yourself?" I asked mischievously and luckily he only grumbled and stumbled his way out of the dungeon. I watched the trail of blood as he walked away.
The guard standing right outside the dungeon was quick to lock it up once more. I felt the ticklish trickle of my blood as it trailed down my back. 'it is fine, it'll all be over soon.
‘Alpha Draven will most definitely be able to defeat Zac and get me out of here. In the meantime, I only need to have faith.' I said to myself reassuringly before falling tired on the cold dungeon floor and suddenly it all went black.
Hazel's POV
The unfamiliar young girl who Draven hadn't introduced yet had given me a shocking revelation which I found unbelievable. I gazed towards Draven and wondered if he understood my worries.
He had this strange and unfamiliar aura surrounding him the whole time. His aura was authoritative, demeaning, and cold all at once and one would shiver in nervousness if you stood right in front of him staring deep into his ice-cold gaze.
After Draven was done speaking with the unfamiliar girl, he had his eyes closed for a while and I automatically guessed that he was informing the others that there was a change of plans. The problem is, that I have no idea what the plan was.
It didn't matter anyway, he wouldn't let me be a part of it. Dismissing the girl, he kept walking forward down the hall, left with no other choice I followed after him. We approached the entrance of the mansion, and the sound of hundreds of voices filled the air.
I could hear the excited murmur of the pack guardians and warriors, all of them ready to follow their Alpha King into battle. As we reached the front door, it was flung open, revealing a sea of unfamiliar faces.
They all turned to look at Draven, their expressions filled with resilience and unwavering determination which left me dumbfounded for a few seconds. Draven suddenly gestured for a tall guy standing by the corner and the guy walked closer to me and stood right behind me.
I immediately guessed that the guy must be Sam's son, the one Sam had said would be there to safeguard me and would be exonerated from this war. From the look in his eyes, he was displeased by this.
"Hazel... I'll be back soon." He said reassuringly while holding onto my shoulder slightly. "Please be safe." I found myself subconsciously saying.
"I will." Came his reply, he exchanged looks with the guy behind me and I could tell they were communicating through a mind link. The guy made a small bow before Draven smiled slightly and turned away from me.
Soon, he headed off with the other warriors. He was headed for the pack borders. I stood still there and said a little prayer to the moon goddess to protect Draven. My wolf had a bad feeling about this happening.
I turned around and walked back into the mansion. I had only walked a few meters away when I suddenly heard the clicking sound of womanly heels as they made contact with the tiled floor, I wondered who it was approaching.
I turned to find a beautiful damsel standing right behind me. She had black wavy hair and adorned herself in a red skimpy outfit which if I am to be honest is too revealing.
But I barely had time to register her appearance. I watched her hand fly to my face. she smacked me hard.
Wtf!
