Chapter 28 Jealousy

Chapter 28 Jealousy
Leo sipped a glass of whiskey. He'd won again tonight, just like every other night. A victory that seemed too easy. People around him congratulated him on his successful purchase of a second casino.

He saw Renata, one of the very beautiful and wealthy socialites, walking towards him in a black dress that showed off her beautiful curves. As Renata joined the party, the people in the room left automatically, as if they already knew what they were going to do.

Renata smiled. She couldn't believe Leo would contact her again after he hadn't answered her last call. She looked at the heartbroken man, and it made her want to laugh.

"I can't believe you'd invite me again after all this time, Leo!" she said with a seductive smile. She sat on Leo's lap, whose expression was cold and listless.

Furiously, Renata draped her arms around Leo's shoulders and kissed him on the lips. Her blood was boiling; she loved him to the bone.

"Have you finally realized that I'm your only refuge?"

"I didn't call you to spout unnecessary nonsense! You should just sit there like a statue!"

"Hahaha...what are you saying? Is it possible for us to just sit and stare at each other without trying to make love? Come on, my dear! You know that no woman can let you go after just one night with you. So, what makes me, who's been with you for so long, just leave like that? That's impossible!"

"Boss, oh, sorry—" said a man who suddenly entered the private room without knocking.

"What's wrong?"

"The woman you're staying with came to the casino and she's waiting out front!"

"What?"

"She kept asking where Leo was? So, we had to tell you because she didn't seem to want to leave even though we asked her to!"

"Oh, damn! She's a complete madwoman!" He couldn't believe Hinata Hanase would be so reckless as to come all the way here to find him, even though he knew the situation was quite dangerous, considering the assassins might already recognize him.

Leo walked hurriedly, while Renata didn't seem to want to stay still. He realized that there was now a woman who caught Leo's attention more than anything else.

Meanwhile, I stood waiting in front of the main entrance of this enormous casino. When I saw Leo walking towards me, I immediately felt happy.

"Leo, I was waiting—"

"Why did you come here?" Leo asked sarcastically. His face looked annoyed. Behind him, a brown-haired woman walked over, flashing me a sly smile.

"I want—"

"Go home!"

"What?"

"Who brought you here?"

"Sorry, Boss, I brought him here because he said he wanted to go to your place. So—"

"You idiot...!"

Leo immediately punched the subordinate who had brought me here in the face. The man fell to the ground, his nose bleeding profusely. Leo looked so upset he looked like he could have killed him.

"I-I'm sorry, Boss—"

"I told you not to let him out without my permission! You damn bastard!"

"Leo, stop! It's not his fault, I asked him to bring me here!" I said hysterically, trying to stop Leo from beating the man.

Leo stared at me coldly, his wolfish eyes making me shudder. He looked so scary, he was so different from the Leo I knew. The cheerful Leo, the Leo who always smiled and was friendly, he was like a different person.

I couldn't hold back my tears, the people around us were staring at us. Those who knew Leo and knew how terrifying he was would have stopped twice to try and stop him.

"Let go of my hand!" he said.

"I won't let go until you stop hitting him!"

"Let go of my hand!"

"No—"

"Let go or I'll kill him!"

No, that didn't sound like a simple bluff. It was a real threat, judging by the expressions on everyone's faces. My hands were shaking; I never knew the day would come when I would do something so stupid.

Resignedly, I let Leo's hand slip from his grasp. I let my eyes watch as Leo beat the poor man to a pulp. But in the end, I couldn't take it anymore; I hugged the man just as Leo kicked him.

"What are you doing? Get out of my way!"

"That's enough! If you keep this up, I never want to see you again!"

I gave an ultimatum that I thought would stop Leo from committing such violence. I forgot the fact that someone who grows up in a dangerous environment is more likely to commit violence in the future.

Our eyes locked for a few moments, before Leo finally gave in and started walking toward his car. He paused in front of the poor man who was already battered by his hands

"Take her home and make sure she's safe. If you don't, I won't forgive you!"

I sat on the bed, waiting for Leo, who had promised to take me to the airport. My eyes kept staring at the clock on the wall; it was already 11:00 AM. But Leo still hadn't returned.

I remembered the face of the brown-haired woman who had been standing beside Leo, even following him into the car. She had smiled sarcastically at him, as if to say that Leo belonged to her.

I've sighed countless times, considering leaving the mansion alone. But there were so many guards standing guard and watching him.

The sound of the door opening, accompanied by footsteps, sounded very familiar. Leo's face appeared through the open door. He was wearing different clothes than he had last night. It was as if he had spent the night somewhere else, and that made me feel disappointed.

Leo looked at me the same way he had last night: cold and cruel. We were silent for a few seconds. But I didn't know what to say now, because the situation was so chaotic.

Leo walked over to me and stood right in front of me. He handed me a package, and I accepted it, confused.

"What's this?"

"I replaced your phone with a new one. I've saved all the data from your old phone to this one."

"Thank you."

"Let's go!"

"Where to?"

"Aren't you eager to go home and start a new life?"
