Chapter 35 Chapter 35

Chapter 35 Chapter 35

ALINA'S POV

For the rest of the week after that, a thorough social disassociation was carried out.

By me that is.

Meaning no contact. No association. No confrontation, no greetings, no- no communication.

Let's just say I and my 'dearest ' neighbour didn't cross paths at all for the rest of the week, and I'm telling you, my days have never been more peaceful. So peaceful. Really.

Although I did have to meet up and put up with a couple of unscrupulous set persons now that I had my paycheck. My new and improved paycheck. Things otherwise went well.

I got to see my ball of light too.

The best part.

But after a week long of peace and somewhat stability in my soul. Reality hit.

The weekends.

My first weekend at my luxuriously furnished and free apartment.

Meaning crossing paths. Definitely crossing paths! I may have been able to avoid him all week, both at the house and at the office. Strictly doing that which I should do, and sending out everything for his approvals without meeting him.

Him too not coming to look for me unlike his behaviour the previous week. Can't say that I miss it though.

But I knew it wouldn't be so easy anymore. Now I was home, having nowhere to hurry to early in the morning or rush back at night. Leaving me no choice now but to simply explore. Explore the grounds. The building where I now lived.

"Oh well," I sighed, rising. "It can't be avoided, I may as well get it over with now."

With that thought process in mind, I moved to change out to comfortable clothes. It was after all a Saturday. A day for relaxation, both the mind and body. I had no cleaning to do, plus I had noticed a couple of buttons on my elevator. With unique numbering too. Wonder where it all led to.

Today was a good day to explore that.

"At least I'll be going up and not down, that's less likely to meet him. Right?" I muttered as I stood in my elevator, pressing the first button. The doors shut automatically, my room gone as I soon began moving upwards. Nerves tingling a bit.

I hoped I was right though. Really hoped.

But then again, should I?

I mean, it was a known fact that the heavens didn't like helping me. They'll help everyone else but not me. I always had to face problems head-on. Alone.

Shouldn't i have gotten used to it by now? Shouldn't you have, Alina?

Maybe if you did, you wouldn't run into crazy situations where you're already occupying a space in the devil's building, then walk into something even far worse than that!

"You've reached the movement floor," the elevator dinged as it opened its doors. Presenting a clear lit up hallway. Clean. A door at the end, the one and only door and it was slightly open too.

The very first sign to turn back around.

To return to my elevator, which I was noticing now that it was the only elevator on the floor. Meaning everyone would use that one? Back to the floors they came from? Together??

The second sign right there!

My second sign, but still I pushed forward. Strutting in and towards the door like I knew where I was headed. It was a bit exciting too, giving myself a tour. Guess that's why my warning bells weren't as loud as they should've been.

"Body movement," I read out the writing above the door. Pausing before I went in. But as I did, I quickly regretted it.

First it was the cold. The cold air that was a sharp contrast to my room and the hallway. Then the scent followed. A thick wave of Oud wood, black amber, smoked vanilla, and warm musk.

The dose heavy in the air.

A man's cologne.

I'd perceived it before. On him. The car, and even his office too. His apartment yesterday also.

This was his scent. His perfume or something, and it was so strong. Just how much did he put on a norm??

Wait, should that even be the point of concentration right now? Alina, the scent's everywhere! Everywhere, meaning-

Meaning he was here!

My eyes widened then, freezing in my spot as I finally took the time to look around me. Where I was.

There were equipments everywhere. Not scattered, but they were a lot. In different shapes, sizes, structures... I moved closer slowly, inspecting the figures...

And then it clicked.

Gym.

I was in a gym.

A real life, empty spaced gym. No persons, just big equipments mounted all over the place. Clean and heavy. "Body movement," I remembered the writing at the door, "No wonder it said that. It's a gym."

A very Intimidating looking gym. Everything seemingly so charged, rich but also very surprising when you look at it critically. Especially as I turned a corner not expecting anything but finding the most mind throbbing sight ever!

A person grunting.

A man grunting.

A man, a half naked, ink covered man!

"One," he reduced low, lifting the weights.

"Two!" He went low again.

"Three!" He went even lower again

"Four!"

"Five!"

"Six! Yeahhh!" He cheered himself on. Smirking, taking pleasure in compressing himself. His muscles, his arms... everywhere all boxed up as he moved.

But that wasn't the problem.

The problem was I knew who this man is. I knew exactly who he was, I'd watched that similar smirk taken over his bastardised lips.

But I'd never watched it happen while he shirtless before. While he was half naked. Spotting almost nothing left for the skimpy little shorts getting lost deep in his thigh!

Everywhere shining. Sweaty. Oily. Like he'd somehow put on some essential oils just to go show off on some gym equipment.

Bigger problem here was I still present! Watching!

I was watching him do this. Watching those muscles bulge, compress and relax with every lift. The brow on his face, the way it lifted as though like;

'oh yeah? You still looking?'

The way the smirk sat on
his face. The sheer arrogance of it...all of it and I was still at my spot.

Only after a sudden pause in his movements did my brain finally boot!
