Chapter 21:Minor accident?

Sam's POV*

"What kind of a woman would turn down such a life-changing offer?, Gosh, some people are just too dumb". I muttered as I excused myself to a corner to call Anthony.

"Yes, any news?" His curious voice cut in as he received the call.

"Anthony, first off, your wife is really cute I won't lie," I said in a low tone, one corner of my mouth raised.

"You have no time left, so just hit the point already" his blunt voice warned, his patience wearing thin.

I exhaled sharply with a brief eye roll "She's not gonna sign it".

"Tell her she does not have a choice" he yelled.

"Calm down and listen,n Tony, it's not that she doesn't want the divorce. The thing is that she doesn't want the money you're offering her. Like she isn't moved at all". I said, trying to make him understand.

"Look, as long as she signs the papers, I don't fucking care if she takes the money or not". He roared with a heated voice before arrogantly ending the call.

"I hope she signs the divorce papers 'cause I don't want any troubles from Anthony" I muttered, My face frowned as I slid my phone back into my pocket.

I turned to continue the unfinished business I was having with Aileen but to my greatest surprise, she was nowhere to be found.

Cold chills went down my spine as I slowly hovered my eyes within the four walls to search for her. It turned out she had left already.

I took out my phone to see where she had gone in such a short time.

"Hey, Aileen, where are you? You disappeared without even notifying me. I just made up a new agreement" I said immediately after she took the call.

"I'm so so sorry. I had to go. I have a family emergency. It was impromptu". Her soft voice came through as she explained herself.

I raised my eyebrows "You couldn't wait just 2 more minutes?" I asked, as I slightly slammed my forehead.

"No no, I can't. I'm sorry. My grandma is the most important person to me okay? I can't wait, I can't do that all right?" She said and her phone went off strangely.

I tried calling her to know why she hung up so fast but her number wasn't reachable. It was switched off.

"Is she not the same person I spoke to a moment ago?" I narrowed my eyes that was fixed on my phone screen.

"She left not long ago so she must be close by. I hope nothing bad has happened to her, else, Anthony will chop off my head" I thought as I rushed out of the cafe.

A few paces from the cafe, I saw Aileen lying unconscious on the road in front of a car. The car might have knocked her down

I ran to the spot immediately "Oh no Aileen, what have you done? Tony will have me thrown behind bars" I yelled as I grabbed her up and rushed her to Riverdale City Hospital.

As soon as we got to the hospital, the doctor attended to Aileen's wounds.

"It's a minor accident plus, she's a strong lady as well" the doctor said, her lips slightly parted as she dressed the wounds.

"She'll be fine by morning". The doctor added as she left us in our ward.

*Anthony's POV*

"It's past 8 am and Aileen is not yet at work?" I asked as I glanced at my wristwatch.

"And on top of that, her contact isn't reachable. Could it be a network? or traffic?" I thought, narrowing my eyes on my desktop screen with furrowed brows.

"Should I call Dean?" I asked as I picked my phone from the table to dial Dean's contact so I could get some information about Aileen as I had instructed but just in time, Dean's call came in. I received the call without hesitation.

"Dean"

"Mr Price, Aileen had a minor car accident last night. The nurses are working on her right now" his voice was filled with worry.

My heart stopped for a second "Accident?" My eyes widened.

"Which hospital?" I asked with curiosity.

"Riverdale City Hospital Mr price". He supplied.

"I'll be over there as well later". He added. Then I ended the call.

"Aileen was involved in an accident and I wasn't informed in time?" I frowned as I grabbed my car keys, left the office and drove straight to the hospital, not minding the traffic rules cause I was in a rush.

When I got to the hospital, I was redirected to the ward where Aileen was admitted.

I was in a haste to see Aileen's condition and I almost fell to the ground. "Aileen, be strong for me" I whispered as I reached for the door but I froze when I heard sounds of laughter coming from the inside. "who is behind the other voice?" I thought and curious to know, I peeped through the transparent part of the door and saw a masculine figure in front of her. My eyes widened surprised by what I saw.

I swiftly shifted from the door to prevent them from seeing me "So this is her husband? This is the man she's madly in love with?" I frowned, feeling disgusted.

"I'm curious to know what he looks like," I said as I almost opened the ward door.

"Excuse me, sir", a nurse rushed to stop me.

"Are you looking for someone?" She asked staring at me blankly.

"I'm her boss" I said pointing at the transparent part.

"Do you know if that's her husband?" I asked, narrowing my eyes.

"Uhh, I don't know but maybe because he takes good care of her. He has been here ever since she got admitted. I mean from last night" she said with a smile.

"If you need any more information, the doctor's office is always open. Have a nice day" she added before leaving.

I stamped my right foot so hard on the floor and clenched my fists as I turned to see them having a nice time. It seems like Aileen was fond and used to this particular guy or should I say 'her husband'.

"She seems to be so comfortable around him. I guess she's in good hands", a voice in my head said, I frowned as I left angrily.

"Should I have some alcohol with Velmont? I need to calm my nerves" I thought as I got into my car.

"Vel, meet me at our usual bar" , I sent an SMS across to Velmont and drove out of the hospital's premises.
