Chapter 20:$10 million?
Anthony's POV*
"I don't know why I always get furious whenever she talks about her husband" I frowned.
"What's really going on with my mind?" I thought as I shut my door and retired on the bed.
My phone beeped with a text from Donovan, it read "Sir, your wife is not reachable. I've tried so many times". I clenched my teeth on reading the message.
"He's not reliable and I can't trust him anymore" I muttered as I deleted the message from my phone.
"I must find someone else real quick," I said as I dialled Samuel's contact.
"How are things going?" I asked as soon as he took the call.
"I don't get you, Tony. Pennington and Price have all the best lawyers in Riverdale in their pocket. So what are you doing calling me?" Sam's mischievous voice cut through.
I rolled my eyes upwards, "you're a lawyer, Sam, that's why I am calling because I need your service". I retorted, with a tight-lipped smile.
He laughed out so loudly, his voice echoed from my phone "Humor me Tony. How does it feel knowing that the Cinderella you married disrespected you by cheating on you with a nobody" he chuckled teasingly.
I gritted my teeth "Sam, who's feeding you with..... " I wanted to ask but Samuel interrupted, "And yet, you've got Ethan's younger sister, Susan, she's rich, well educated and on top of that, she's waiting for you". He added.
My face froze "Did Ethan send you or you're advocating for someone else?"I asked, narrowing my eyes in annoyance.
"Do you just want me to convince your cheating wife to sign the divorce papers? A bit overkill, don't you think?" he asked mockingly.
"I want to see progress between now and tomorrow morning ". I commanded then I ended the call.
"She's becoming a thorn in my flesh. I better do something real quick about it before it spreads and tarnishes my reputation" I mumbled as I dropped my phone and went to bed.

*Aileen's POV*
I woke up early the next morning, feeling all fresh and light "I can't wait to see Stella, Liam and Grandma" I said as I stretched my hands above my head.
"Let the preparation begin," I said as I happily packed my bags. We flew back to Riverdale and as soon as we left the airport, I received a call from an unknown number.
"Hello?", I said, darting my eyes slowly, curiosity took the better part of me.
"Ehem, Aileen Smith. Hi, I'm Samuel Sam and I'll be representing your husband now. We really need you to sign the divorce papers tonight". A masculine voice came from the other end.
My eyes widened "Sure, uhh..., how about we meet at splendid coffee?" I asked.
"Yeah, I'll head out now. See you soon". He said before hanging up.
"Wait, is it that my husband is a weakling? Or perhaps he's scared of facing me that's why he keeps on sending different people to represent him?" I frowned as I slid my phone into my bag.
"Whatever, I dislike my man being a weakling. So I'll sign the divorce today and be free" I said, my cheeks slightly elevated as I paced to the pickup point.
Anthony's driver picked us up from the airport to the office. We worked for the remaining hours and I finished up early to go see my husband's representative and sign the divorce papers, "so I'll finally be free today", I thought, smiling widely as I opened the cafe's door and let myself in.
I settled by a corner and patiently sat down waiting for the lawyer to bring forth the divorce papers.
Moments later, the cafe's door swung open and a tall slim guy entered, he paused for a second darting his eyes around like he was searching for someone, he adjusted the briefcase that rested in his right hand and paced directly to where I was seated.
I raised my widened eyes only to see a tall figure towering in front of me, his both eyes fixed on me. "Ms. Smith, my name is Samuel Sam. The guy who called you earlier today" he introduced himself as he stretched out his hand for a handshake.
"Yeah, you know my name already so there's no need for further introduction," I said as I put out my hand to receive the handshake.
He sat down opposite me, his eyes never leaving mine "I'll be handling your divorce from now on. Here's the paperwork" he said as he brought out the divorce papers and placed them on the table in front of me.
I gently dragged it on the table closer to myself for better viewing.
"Please read it carefully and do let me know what you think. And of course, you can sign up here if you don't have any questions" he said as he brought out a pen and indicated the area.
I read the first page it was nice but immediately I flipped to the second page, my eyes widened "he wants to pay me $10 million to divorce me?" My face got stiff as I raised my eyes to Sam.
He chuckled on seeing how I reacted "Ms Smith, Tony wants to just make sure that the divorce process goes through as soon as possible".
"Okay, uh..., I really appreciate that but please tell Tony that I don't need it" I said as I pushed the papers back to him.
Piqued by my reaction, Sam got shocked and dumbfounded he looked at me with furrowed brows, "What? You're really going to turn down this life-changing offer?". He asked to be sure as he gave me a withering stare as though, I wasn't in my right senses.
"Yes, tell him that not everything is about money and he can't buy this divorce with such a cheap strategy. I wish I could see him right now so that I can give him a hard slap across his face". I said, clenching my fists, my face frowned.
"Give me two minutes," Sam, said as he excused himself to place a call.
"Does he think I'm this cheap? Buying a mere divorce?" I thought deeply, darting my eyes slowly and fidgeting with the pen in my hands but a call from my phone shivered me out of my thoughts. I picked up without hesitation.
"What?" I yelled as fear crept into my skin, my mouth falling agape and my eyes widened following what the caller had sa id.
"I'll be right there" I added as I dashed out of the cafe in a rush.
