Chapter 30
Amelia's POV
I strolled across the aisle, I was at the shopping mall, and I was buying groceries with the twins. I picked up a packet of cereal and looked at the ingredients. I don't want anything sugary for them.
They played around the cart and I had to warm them a couple of times to keep them still. It had been five years since that day at the hospital when I had experienced that unforgettable amount of pain.
Who would have imagined that these two pairs of lovely buns could have caused so much pain? I looked at them as they ran around and I smiled.
They both look so identical I found it hard to differentiate between them. Their names were Jason and Mason and they were my pride and joy.
They both were of the same height and they both had matte black hair and piercing silver eyes. They were very adorable, just like their father, Asher.
These last years had been fairly easy for me, Asher was very gentle and loving with them but he also made sure to discipline them when they crossed the line. He was the best father ever.
But I also knew that these last years had been hard on him. With the twins growing up and becoming more and more like their birth father, it was a constant reminder of a past we are trying so hard to forget.
I loved my kids so much and I would never take back bringing them into this world, but I also couldn't bear to keep on hurting Asher. I had no idea what to do and I could only hope that I could bear him a child soon too.
I sighed as I was lost in thought before I noticed something strange, why was everywhere so quiet?
I furrowed my brows and looked around me, my eyes widened in shock as I left the cart and quickly began to look around. My kids, my twins.. they were gone.
How come? I had only been lost in my thoughts for a few seconds and yet they had managed to get away from me without me noticing. Those mischievous tykes!! I will make sure Asher disciplines them when we get home.
I began to walk around from aisle to aisle looking around for them and when I couldn't find any signs of them, I began to panic.
I looked around, my heart beating loudly in my ears. I spotted a guard and I approached him. He must have noticed the panic on my face because before I got to him, he had already approached me,
“What's wrong ma'am?” He asked and I frantically replied to him.
“My babies, my twins!! I can't find them!! I can't find my babies!!” I was panicking and tears were streaming down my eyes. I could barely focus on the guard as I kept searching around with my eyes, trying to locate them.
“you need to calm down ma'am.”
“How can I calm down when my babies are missing!!!” I shouted at the guard and I began to walk away to look for my babies but he held me back.
“Let us help you find them, ma'am. Can you describe them?” he asked
“They are twins, almost five years old. Black hair and silver eyes, they stand out a lot.”
“That's good ma'am, that would make them easier to locate.” the guard replied calmly and he began speaking into his communication device.
I was jittery all over and I couldn't even remain still. I wanted to leave as soon as possible to look for my kids. After a few moments, he faced me and asked me to remain calm and wait while they searched for my child.
I left, leaving behind my number so they could contact me if anything came up. There was no way I was going to sit back and relax when something might be happening to my kids right now.
How stupid was I?! How could I have let this happen? I had just one job, all I had to do was watch them and I failed miserably at that, it's like I failed at every other thing.
“JASON!! MASON!!!” I screamed as I searched aisle to aisle. I didn't know what I would do if I didn't find them. They were my joy and my hope. They were the glue holding me and Asher together. If I lose them, I lose everything.
Suddenly, I spotted a pair of kids from afar standing in the middle of an aisle with their backs to me and I didn't even need to think before I rushed towards them.
“Jason?! Mason?!”
They both looked back at me simultaneously and I felt my heart leap. I rushed and knelt before them, pulling both into a tight hug.
“What were you thinking, you had mommy worried. I thought I had lost you.”
My tears flowed as I felt my tense muscles relax and my heart calm down.
I stood up and looked at both of them with a stern gaze. I was very happy right now but I was also very angry, what were they thinking of straying so far away from me?
“What were you both thinking!! I was worried sick. I'll make sure Dad disciplines you both.” I huffed and they both looked down at their feet.
“We are sorry Mom. We heard a voice and we followed it here, it sounded so familiar.”
My brows furrowed at that,
“a voice? Whose voice?” I asked and they both pointed behind them. That was when I noticed that a man was standing behind them. I slowly raised my head, from his black boots to his black pants.
His black shirt, coat and hair. At this point, my eyes were wide open and I was hyperventilating. My heart was so loud, it automatically tuned out every other sound.
Those eyes, reminiscent of the coldest of ice. Only this time, they weren't as frozen but I could never mistake them. Piercing silver eyes and black hair, and that face….
“D…. Damien?”
