Chapter 0236
FEYRE
The gentle rhythm of the heart monitor is the sound I wake up to. I look around the dim lit room, sighing in relief when I note that it is NOT a hospital room.
I think everyone would understand if I never wanted to be in one ever again.
Soft breathing from beside me makes me smile. I push the bad thoughts away and turn to look at the man I never expected to fall for. He is lying on his side, watching me. He must have fallen asleep that way.
I lift my hand that doesn't have the IV drip and reach out to trace the scruff on his face. He looks even sexier like this.
The minute my hand touches him, his eyes snap open and I'm hit with the intensity of his gray orbs. The coldness that I used to see there is nothing but warmth now.
He covers my hand with his and brings it to his lips where he kisses the back of our now intertwined fingers.
"Morning, baby."
A pleasant shudder rolls through me at the sound of his raspy morning voice. He smirks, seeing the effect he has on me and that just makes me flush bright red.
I've never been happier with the lack of light in the room.
"How are you feeling?" he asks, sitting up and adjusting my pillow.
He goes back to lying on his back and like a total clingy she-wolf, I snuggle closer until I'm half lying on him. He encourages me by wrapping his arms around my waist and making sure I'm comfortable.
"Like I went through hell and back." He breathes out and squeezes my hand that he is still holding. "But I'm better now that you're here."
I didn't know when the words left my mouth, but I figured I didn't want to take them back.
"And here?" I hold my breath when he moves his hand lower until he touches my abdomen. Right where our baby is growing.
We found out yesterday after we came back from the crazy asylum.
I fought and insisted that I was okay but Zade refused to listen and made sure they ran every type of test to make sure none of what his father and his team of crazy doctors did to me is permanent.
Raya, who gave me a smug smile when I laid on the bed, assured Zade they had done that before. But he bullied them into doing it again. I didn't know if to be annoyed or laugh at how he was acting like someone that is unhinged.
She said they gave me healing potions, but she could administer more because it wouldn't be good for the baby. We were both confused and lost, cause what baby?
"Oh, you two didn't know?" she asks, looking between Zade and I with widened eyes, mirroring how we looked. "You're about a few weeks along. Normally, we wouldn't know until much later but well..." she motions to Zade, meaning his whole almost hybrid thing makes everything go faster.
He explained what that was to me and safe to say, I never expected it. But it isn't anything major compared to finding out I had two sisters and his father tried to kill me, and his baby.
His doctors found out from the first time I was brought to the clinic. That was the main reason they called him, to ask if they should go through with the tests. He said it was perfect.
"You would have died if it wasn't for the baby." Raya went on to say.
Explaining that the first time that first crazy doctor ran all those tests, my heart had stopped, but my baby's own helped me regain consciousness. And since he was stronger than normal wolves, having his blood was what helped with my healing process.
"Perfect." I murmur, pulling myself from the events of the day before.
I closed my eyes and relished in how great it felt lying on him like this. It all feels like a fever dream. Being here with Zade, knowing in a few months, we'll have our child.
