Chapter 14: A Big Trap!
Julia’s POV:
I don’t remember how I made it to the office, almost holding my breath with extreme anxiety surging inside me from the second I disconnected Martha’s call. After all this time, I knew she was the only colleague who was like an elder sister to me, and the only one whom I could trust in that place.
But the way her voice trembled and sounded nervous during the call hinted to me that something must have gone terribly wrong there, to make her so concerned. Rushing through the main gate inside, while I stopped for a second to breathe, suddenly a warm hand tapped on my shoulder from behind.
“Julia?” It was Martha, holding a pale, anxious gaze towards me as if all this time she was waiting for me to arrive, near the main gate.
Looking at her expression, I gulped, “Yes, I came as soon as possible. Now tell me, what happened Martha?”
“Supervisor Mr. Todor has summoned you, Julia. Right now in his chamber. He said…y-you have committed a grave mistake which might put the company in a big loss.” Her brows frowned deeper in concern when she conveyed to me in a stiff voice.
The second I heard that mention, I couldn’t help but feel disgruntled. Middle-aged Mr. Todor, the Supervisor of our company was a notorious promiscuous man who was known for targeting innocent female workers who were newly recruited here. He had also tried to hit on me countless times when I was a newbie, but I was always strict in putting my guard up against him.
So, I knew eventually I would earn his disfavor and he would try to take his revenge on me when the right time strikes.
And sadly, the time has arrived today when I was already battling the heartwrenching point of my life.
Mustering my inner strength, I marched ahead to the Supervisor’s chamber, and upon knocking on the door when I set foot inside, my intuitions strongly told me I had walked into a big trap set by that lecherous man.
I saw next to his chair, Yasmine was standing and the second she noticed my arrival, a sly smirk grew on her face.
Mr. Todor had a solemn look on his face while checking his desktop monitor, but when his eyes fell on me, he scowled, “So, finally you got the time to show up here, huh?”
I could sense a deep hostility in his voice which initially made me a little nervous inside. But I was aware I hadn’t done anything wrong, so I must confront the situation bravely today.
“Hello Sir, I heard you had summoned me?”
“Of course! Because I need you to explain this yourself, Ms. Julia Davis!!” Suddenly with a cranky loud grunt, Mr. Todor threw a few document pages toward me, making me wince at his absurd act. Yasmine also quietly stood there next to him, but even as her senior, I picked up the pages from the floor to take a look at them.
“The biggest order of our company with Zed Group has gone missing! I had clearly given you the responsibility to ensure the safe delivery of their order, didn’t I? So where is that damn order? It has been over 2 days since it has gone missing! What the hell were you doing since yesterday without it reporting me!?”
His fervent shrieks left me completely stunned, as I couldn’t believe the shocking reality while scanning my eyes through those pages. Indeed he was right!
The biggest order had gone missing, but how could it be possible when everything was shown right the last time I had checked?
“I-I am sure there must be a glitch, Sir! I had ensured it would be safely delivered within the permitted time…and…just yesterday I had emailed the document copy to Yasmine too!” After processing the shock, I tried to voice out my words aloud against the defamation charges that were put on me all of a sudden.
But pointing my finger at Yasmine, when I tried depicting her involvement in this order too, she retained a sneer towards me before she blatantly declaimed, “Of course, I have done everything accordingly from my part and has shown the proof to Sir, as well. The fault was on your end, Miss Julia. You shouldn’t try to shuffle the blame on juniors after failing to execute your task.”
“W-What?” Her arrogant remark riled my blood in anger, as I glowered at her for trying to defame me. I had still not forgiven her for stealing my proposal idea in the interview earlier, but now…her arrogance crossed my endurance limit as I scowled, “Mind your words before you speak, Yasmine! I had ensured everything timely from my end…how dare you try to blame me—”
“If you had done everything accordingly, then show me the proof. Show me the emails which you had sent to the company yesterday.”
Intervening my grunt, when Mr. Todor urged me in a stiff low voice, I immediately grabbed out the work tablet from my bag and started scrolling through the emails to show him the proof.
But now…I realized my intuition from earlier was indeed true!
All the emails that I had exchanged with Zed company had magically disappeared, leaving me stunned for a few seconds from disbelief. I deliberately continued scrolling and was unable to find one single email! How could it be possible?
While I stood still, contemplating about this absurd situation, I heard Yasmine pass a taunt at me.
“How would you expect Miss Julia to execute her task properly when all this time she was busy acting chummy with our new CEO, sir? Perhaps her attention is solely directed at him now…and that’s why, she must’ve neglected her work.”
“Hah!” As if Mr. Todor was amused by her comment, he wafted his cold glare on me and gritted, “So, where’s the email, Miss Julia? Why aren’t you showing that to me?”
“I-I swear on my life, Sir! I can’t find any of my emails with that company…and I don’t think it’s possible! I am sure it must be a glitch!”
Even though I tried hard to defend myself, I saw his facial expression turn surly when he grumbled at me, “Miss Yasmine has already shown me the emails and you’re the only one who’s unable to do so. I guess, you must’ve already realized the blunder you’ve committed can get you fired from the job, right Miss Julia?”
“Sir, please–”
“And who gave you the authority to decide that?”
Before I could finish my words, a sudden cold manly voice roared aloud from behind, making me turn around to face the person who had walked inside the cabin.
