Chapter 89 Bumping into Allan

Lorna got back to the Allard Mansion just as Bernard was on a call. He waved her over to join him.

She shrugged off her coat, hung it by the door, and made her way to Bernard, who naturally opened his arms for her.

Lorna rested her head on Bernard's chest, wrapping her arms tightly around his waist. She looked up at him with a bright smile.

Bernard handed her a hand warmer, pulled a blanket over her while still on the phone, and wrapped it around her.

He looked at Lorna with a loving expression.

After ending the call, Bernard noticed Lorna playing with his fingers, clearly entertained.

He hugged her and gently swayed, speaking in a playful tone, "Where'd you go? Why didn't you let the driver take you?"

Lorna squeezed his fingertips and lazily replied, "I went to the studio and ran into someone really unpleasant."

Bernard paused, "What happened?"

"Nothing serious. By the way, you mentioned the Savage family on your call. Do you know Tomas Savage?"

Bernard thought for a moment. The current head of the Savage family was indeed Tomas. He nodded.

Lorna sat up, still wrapped in the blanket, and said seriously, "Tomas is a wicked man. We can't work with him! He's the unpleasant person I mentioned."

Bernard looked at her furrowed face, pinched her cheek, and smiled, "Alright, we won't work with him. I'll have them stop all contact immediately."

He quickly sent a message to Lyndon, who was in a meeting: [Stop all dealings with the Savage family].

The people in the office were left bewildered.

Satisfied, Lorna gave Bernard a big kiss on the cheek. "Good boy. This is your reward!"

She was about to head upstairs to sleep when Bernard pulled her back into his arms.

Lorna looked at him innocently.

"You're just going to tease me and then run away?" Bernard's deep voice rumbled with amusement.

Lorna was about to retort when Bernard's face suddenly came close. His breath deepened, and suddenly, he kissed her.

His lips were warm, almost electric, caressing hers, sometimes lingering, as if trying to restrain himself but longing for more.

Lorna felt breathless, her breathing quickened. Sensing Bernard's rising emotions, she gently pushed him away.

Reluctantly, Bernard pulled back, giving her a soft, fleeting kiss before she buried her embarrassed face in his chest.

Bernard laughed heartily, picking her up and carrying her to the bedroom to rest.

Lucas, hiding nearby, watched and covered his mouth to stifle his laughter.

In the evening, Clara came to Lorna's room to chat.

They snuggled under the covers, chatting while watching a movie.

"Clara, was your boyfriend Louis at the awards ceremony the other day?" Lorna asked.

She had noticed a handsome, elegant-looking guy in the audience who couldn't take his eyes off Clara.

Clara blushed. "He said he hadn't officially visited the family yet and didn't want to intrude, so he didn't join us."

Lorna nodded approvingly. "Louis seems like a good guy, someone who respects women."

"Oh, by the way, how did it go with Allan? I asked you to look into it," Lorna remembered.

After the awards ceremony, she had asked Clara to gather information about Allan.

"Lorna, why are you looking into Allan? Here, take a look." Clara showed her the messages from her advisor on her phone.

Lorna took the phone and replied, "I have my reasons."

Clara added, "By the way, tomorrow is Allan's birthday. We were born on the same day of the month, just in different months."

Lorna understood, flipping through the phone.

Allan Jennings, age 22, was a university student. The section for parents was left blank.

Lorna asked Clara, "What's Allan's family situation?"

Clara thought about the gossip she had heard recently. "I heard he has a sister who was ten years younger than him. Last year—yeah, it was exactly this time last year—he suddenly seemed like a different person. While playing with his sister, he accidentally pushed her down the stairs, and she died instantly. At first, his parents were kind to Allan because he claimed he had schizophrenia. But when his voice changed to what it is now, his mother started calling him a monster and eventually kicked him out. This year, they completely cut ties with him."

Lorna pondered.

Schizophrenia? Allan must have made up that excuse to explain his erratic behavior and personality changes.

Lorna felt a moment of pity for Allan. Being possessed by a high-ranking demon wasn't his choice, and he was even forced to sever ties with his family at such a young age.

The next day, Lorna went to the cemetery where Allan's sister was buried, knowing Allan would likely visit today.

It was a weekend, and the cemetery was relatively empty. As Lorna got out of the car, she saw a middle-aged couple supporting each other as they walked towards the graves. The woman's eyes were red from crying.

Lorna immediately recognized them as Allan's parents.

She followed them.

What she saw was heartbreaking.

Allan knelt quietly in front of the grave. His mother, who had bumped into him, was hitting him and crying, telling him to leave.

The harsh words kept coming, and just as Lorna couldn't bear to listen anymore, Allan finally stood up.

Without a word, he quickly ran towards the exit.

Sensing something was wrong with Allan, Lorna quickly followed him.

At the cemetery entrance, she saw demonic energy rising from Allan. Her expression turned serious, and she quickly formed a seal with her hands, throwing out a Space Scroll to prevent outsiders from seeing.

With the seals complete, she directed the energy into Allan's body. The high-ranking demon's energy that was about to take over him immediately subsided, and Allan's eyes gradually cleared.

Lorna walked over quickly, withdrew the Space Scroll with a wave of her hand, and watched Allan warily.

Allan looked at her, shocked. "You can control him?"

Lorna shrugged, "As you saw."

"This is the fastest I've ever regained consciousness!" Allan exclaimed, his voice old and weary.

Lorna couldn't stand it anymore. "I can't bear your voice like this. Your home is nearby, right? Take me there, and I'll fix your throat."

Allan knew all too well the pain and fear of fighting for control over his body with the other presence inside him. His voice had changed during their first struggle, likely due to some spell.

Because of his voice, Allan was ridiculed by his classmates and called a monster by his family. Each time he regained consciousness after being possessed, he would cut his wrist.

Now, his wrist was covered in scars, the wounds horrifying. But due to the high-ranking demon's energy, he couldn't die no matter how hard he tried.

Allan was on the verge of madness, but he was still wary of Lorna.

Lorna sighed, "Clara said today is your birthday, right? I'm her sister-in-law. She asked me to help with your throat. Don't you want that? If not, I'll leave."

Using Clara's name worked like a charm. Allan's eyes lit up, and he lowered his guard.

"Clara really mentioned me? She still remembers me?" Allan asked.

Lorna nodded, giving him a reassuring response.

Allan smiled happily. By talking about Clara, Lorna quickly built a rapport with him.

Allan took her to his small rented apartment. Though shabby, it was clean and well-organized.

Lorna said, "Alright, let's get started."
