Chapter 24 Then You Can Keep Waiting
Jeremy said, "Cousin?"
Ethan asked, "Jeremy, are you too free? If you are, I don't mind sending you to another continent."
Jeremy said, "Don't, big cousin, what did I do wrong?"
Ethan said, "It's about Ava. If she wants help, let her come and beg me herself."
Ten minutes later, Jeremy's call finally came through. "Hello..."
Hearing the voice, Ava knew something was wrong. "Is there a problem?"
It seemed like Jeremy had found a place to vent his frustration and cursed loudly on the phone, "Is my cousin out of his mind? You just spent a day at his hot spring, and he's being so petty, making things difficult for a young lady like you!"
He ranted on for a while without hearing any response from Ava. Anxiously, he cautiously asked, "What did you do to offend my cousin?"
Ava said, "It's just a small matter, nothing. He just wants me to bow down."
Watching the courtyard of the Smith family, which had already regained its vitality, and the workers pruning the branches, Ava's heart sank.
She couldn't help but smile bitterly. She thought, ‘This is probably the consequence of provoking that lion. Perhaps I should have expected it.’
"Hey? Hey? Are you listening?" Jeremy anxiously pursued.
Ava sighed, seeming to have made up her mind. "Did he say anything?"
Jeremy said, "What? Yes, he did. He said unless you come and beg him. Is he going to do anything to you?”
Ava said, "He won't."
The next day, Ava meticulously dressed herself up like a gift.
Her long hair was curled into waves, and her fiery red lips were as radiant as the sunset.
She wore a black backless dress and five inches-high heels, spraying the long-unused perfume on her neck again, and dialed the number she hadn't dialed in a long time.
"Sorry, the number you have dialed is switched off." Ava was stunned, incredulously staring at her phone.
She dialed again, with the same result.
Ava thought, ‘Is Ethan out of his mind?’
Unable to do anything else, she had to ask Jeremy for Ethan's address, and it turned out to be the same manor as last time.
Standing at the gate of the manor like a landscape, the servant picked up the intercom and communicated with the inside, then told her some infuriating news. "Sorry, Mr. Davis said... he won't see you."
Of course, Ava knew that Ethan was deliberately making things difficult for her. Since he wouldn't see her, she would just stay here and confront him to the end.
She said, "Please tell him that since he won't see me, then I'll just wait here indefinitely, without regret."
The last few words were almost gritted through her teeth.
As if against her, the sky suddenly unleashed a fierce wind, blowing up leaves and messing up her meticulously arranged hair, with leaves scattered all over her dress.
Then came a rumble of thunder, and bean-sized raindrops started to pelt down on her.
Angrily, Ava gave up seeking shelter and simply stood in the rain, letting the water pour over her.
Little did she know, her current appearance was being recorded from all angles by the surveillance cameras.
Ethan sat on the coffee-colored leather sofa, his legs crossed, leisurely smoking a cigarette, his eyes fixed on the big screen in front of him, watching the stubborn and defiant woman with a smile playing on his lips.
She stood in the stormy rain, stomping her feet in anger, her red lips moving as if she were cursing him. With that determined expression, it was easy to guess that she was cursing him.
When he thought it was about enough, he lifted his hand and pressed the call button beside him. "Let her in to see me."
A moment later, the manor gate opened, and a servant drove up to her in a golf cart. Ava quickly got on, and even took the opportunity to wring out the water from her dress.
The manor was huge, and it took more than ten minutes for the vehicle to reach the inside, with the scene on the screen changing accordingly.
It wasn't until the sound of high heels echoed in the corridor that Ethan finally turned off the screen.
The door opened, and the originally enchanting and charming woman walked in, now soaked all over, trembling with arms crossed."Ethan, you're ruthless!"
