Chapter 21 I Only Ask for a Fair Chance to Compete

Ava had heard of the director, Wade. He was responsible for this competition.

Since Tyrone was so confident, it must be because he had used some connections, which meant that this director wasn't unassailable.

That evening, she called her friend Olivia Adams.

Olivia sounded a bit annoyed on the phone. "Stinky brat, do you only remember me when you need something?"

Ava was delighted to be questioned. "You guessed right again."

Olivia asked, "Congratulations, I heard you reclaimed the Smith family, but will Ethan, whom you manipulated so easily, give up so easily?"

Ava thought, ‘Sure enough, I have a great friend. One sentence from her hit the nail on the head.’

She said, "Well, enough about that. Olivia, I have another very tricky matter now, and I need your help."

After Olivia understood the situation, she vented a few words of indignation for her, then sent her the information she needed on her phone, reminding her. [This Director Garrett isn't very trustworthy. Be careful when you deal with him.]

Ava looked at the text, feeling somewhat relieved.

At night, at the Charm Club.

Ava changed into a black fringe gown, letting her long hair down to soften her slightly cold features.

Wade frequented the club every Saturday night, and there was a VIP room on the third floor reserved for him.

Ava took two of her latest perfumes and knocked on the door.

"Come in." Ava pushed the door open. Wade, accompanied by a few friends, was playing dice with the women in front of him.

Seeing her enter, his narrow eyes fell on her, looking her up and down with interest.

"Are you a new staff of the club?" A man next to him pointed at Ava.

Ava hurriedly stepped forward and extended her hand to Wade, who was sitting in the middle. "Director Garrett, hello, I'm a perfumer..."

Wade said, "I don’t want to talk about work matters here. Get out."

Ava added, "Director Garrett..."

Wade suddenly raised his head, his face dark.

Ava knew that this person's temper was not good. She had already prepared when she came, so she strode forward and picked up a bottle of wine. "Director Garrett, can I have a chance to speak after I finish this bottle?"

Wade was taken aback and then nodded. "Not bad, you know the rules."

Without saying a word, Ava drank the entire bottle of beer in one gulp. Then she respectfully said, "Director Garrett, I was framed and couldn't register for the preliminary round. I don't ask you to take my side, I just ask for a fair chance to compete. Can you give it to me?"

The people beside him burst into laughter. "Wade, she wants to buy you with a bottle of wine. What is she thinking?"

Ava said, "Director Garrett, I brought some samples. Can you take a look at them first?"

Wade didn't even look at the samples. He motioned to the woman next to him, who placed several bottles of wine directly in front of Ava.

Then he flicked his finger. "Drink all of these, and I'll give you a chance."

There was a full eight bottles.

The crowd started teasing. "What's the matter? Are you scared? If you don't have the guts, don't stand here delaying our fun."

Another person said, "Yeah, if you can't drink, just get out."

Ava loved parachuting, bungee jumping, skiing, and so on. Any extreme challenge was fine for her, but she really couldn't hold her liquor.

Looking at the bottles on the table, Ava took a deep breath, suppressing the fear in her heart, and picked up a bottle of beer, gulping it down her throat.

The golden liquid, accompanied by white foam, overflowed from her mouth, trickling down her slender neck and falling into Wade's interested eyes.

After a while, all eight bottles of beer were finally finished, and a strong dizziness and nausea roared from her stomach.

She held on to her last bit of reason and looked at the man. "Director Garrett, you promised me... "

Wade got up and hugged her waist suddenly, his eyes full of greed. "Of course, I'll keep my promise to you, but not now."

"What? Director Garrett, what... time?" Ava struggled to pinch herself hard to keep from completely passing out, but her body was no longer under her control.

Wade didn't answer, instead, he hugged her and walked out.
