At Elizabeth's celebration party, I attended with Howard on my arm.

Jessica stood at the door to greet the guests. When she saw us, she warmly welcomed us.

"You finally made it! It's cold outside, come in quickly!"

Howard and I went inside and quickly found our seats at the main table.

Olivia came out holding Liz, and relatives and friends gathered around. Looking at Liz's serene little face in the swaddle, everyone's hearts melted.

I handed the gift box to Jessica, who had come over.

"A small token, please accept it."

Jessica took the box with a very sincere smile.

When she opened it, the gold jewelry inside immediately caught everyone's attention.

"This is really something special, you put a lot of thought into it."

"Yes, this is very meaningful."

Listening to everyone's praise, my cheeks flushed slightly, feeling a bit shy.

Howard tightened his arm around my shoulder, looking very proud.

Jessica put the gold pendant around Liz's neck. The little one seemed to like it very much, opened her eyes, looked at it, and then gave a sweet smile.

Even though I knew that at this age, a baby's smile is just a reflex, I was still utterly charmed.

"Kathie, you are so thoughtful."

Olivia smiled.

I looked up at Olivia and, for some reason, noticed the dark circles under her eyes.

With the Smith family's wealth, Olivia shouldn't have to do everything herself, and Jessica would definitely pay a lot of attention to postpartum recovery.

So how did Olivia end up looking so exhausted?

While everyone was complimenting Liz, someone started a conversation.

"Howard, you're married now. When are you planning to have a child?"

Hearing this, my smile froze on my face, and Alicia's expression turned sour.

"That depends on whether they don't want to have one or can't have one!"

This remark left no room for politeness, and my face immediately turned unpleasant.

In such matters, no one would think it's the man's problem; everyone would assume it's the woman who can't conceive!

Facing the strange looks from everyone, my face turned red, and I couldn't say a word in defense.

Howard shielded me from their gazes.

"Having a child is nice, but it's always better when it's someone else's. It's fun to look at, but when it comes to feeding and changing diapers, it's a lot of work. I want to enjoy a couple more years of freedom, no rush!"

With Howard's explanation, the crowd stopped discussing it, but Alicia still looked at me with disapproval.

There was nothing I could do. Alicia had disliked me for a long time, and since I couldn't change her opinion, I decided to just ignore it!

Soon, Joseph's parents arrived and took the baby from Olivia's arms.

"Olivia, you should rest more. I'll take care of the baby!"

Olivia forced a smile.

"Alright, Mom, thank you for your hard work."

Dahlia beamed with joy.

"It's no trouble at all. This is our Miller family's child, it's our duty!"

The party was very successful, attended by distinguished guests, and the gifts were naturally very valuable.

Dahlia's smile never faded, especially when she saw the gift I brought. That smile almost reached the back of her ears!
