Jessica looked at me in disbelief, and even Howard didn't want to agree.
"Kathie, your body is still very weak right now!"
I interrupted him.
"Saving a life is crucial, right? At least if I give Olivia a blood transfusion now, you can buy some time to get blood from another hospital!"
Howard still wanted to stop me, but I shook my head at him.
Under my determined gaze, Howard withdrew his hand.
I changed my clothes and was taken into the operating room by the doctor.
"I'm sorry, Ms. Brown, but I'm afraid you'll need to lie down here."
I nodded and lay down next to Olivia.
The cold needle pierced my arm, and I gasped in pain.
Feeling the blood slowly flowing out of my body, I felt a bit panicked.
Instinctively, I turned my head and found that Olivia was also looking at me.
Tears welled up in her eyes, and although she was bleeding heavily, she was still conscious.
I could even see her mouth moving under the oxygen mask, trying to say something.
The dark red blood flowed from my body into Olivia's, and her blood pressure gradually stabilized, and her oxygen levels began to rise, which made everyone present breathe a sigh of relief.
I closed my eyes to lessen the dizziness in my head.
Finally, just before I was about to pass out, the blood bags arrived.
I was wheeled out of the operating room because I was too weak to walk out on my own.
Seeing me in this state, Howard was terrified. He held my hand.
"Kathie, can you hear me?"
I found it somewhat amusing and couldn't help but reach out and pat Howard's head.
"Yes, I can hear you. I'm just a bit dizzy. I just need to rest."
Seeing that I was still conscious, Howard finally relaxed.
Jessica also looked at me with a particularly complex expression. After a long while, she said, "Thank you."
Back in the ward, I could tell Howard was very anxious. He must be very worried about the baby since Olivia's condition was still critical.
"Honey."
I called softly.
Howard squatted down beside me.
"What's wrong, honey? Are you feeling uncomfortable? Do you need me to call the doctor?"
I curled my lips into a smile.
"I'm fine. You should go check on Olivia. She needs you more right now."
Howard hesitated, so I spoke again.
"Go ahead. Ava is here to take care of me. When the baby is born, can you bring it to me to see?"
Howard nodded.
"Don't worry, I will definitely bring the baby to you. After all, you saved this baby's life!"
Howard eventually went to check on Olivia, leaving Ava to look after me.
"Mrs. Wilson, you've lost a lot of blood, and your body is already weak. You need to rest and recover."
Ava sighed as she spoke, seemingly feeling it wasn't worth it for me.
"It's okay. At least I have a chance to recover. I couldn't bear to let a living person die helplessly in front of me."
After saying that, I closed my eyes. This could be considered accumulating good fortune for my two lost children, right?
Seeing me like this, Ava didn't say anything more. She just started looking at recipes, preparing to make something nutritious for me.
I don't know how much time passed, but I heard hurried footsteps approaching from outside.
I slowly opened my eyes and immediately saw Howard's slightly flushed face.
"Kathie, look!"
He bent down and showed me the baby in his arms.
