Chapter 91
Ella looked at Joshua's cold and heartless expression, feeling a sharp pain in her chest.
After being married to him for just one year, she could accept leaving with nothing.
But after leaving with nothing, she now owed Joshua two debts.
How was she supposed to pay him back later?
This Joshua was clearly trying to push her to her death.
As she hesitated, still unwilling to sign, her phone rang. It was Zachary calling.
Ella answered, and Zachary's voice came through urgently, "Ella, you need to come back right away. Aurora's awake and crying for her dad. She doesn't seem to remember us, and we can't calm her down no matter what. She just cried so hard she got alkalosis, and the doctor's treating her now."
Ella felt dazed. She put away her phone and looked at Joshua.
"Fine, I'll sign right away, but can you agree to one condition?"
Before Joshua could respond, Ava shouted, "What right do you have to make Joshua agree to any conditions? Just sign it and get out with your two little bastards. I've never seen such a shameless woman."
She could never tolerate Ella again in this lifetime.
Now she just hoped she would quickly cut all ties with the Thomas family.
Something so disgraceful, constantly embarrassing the Thomas family.
Ella ignored Ava's anger. Thinking of Aurora, she became anxious and asked Joshua again, "Will you agree or not? I'll sign immediately if you agree."
Joshua knew her condition was probably about Aurora in the hospital.
Thinking about how Aurora had somehow gotten attached to him.
After all, she had barely survived, and he really couldn't bear to see her fall ill again.
Joshua agreed, "Okay, go ahead."
"Come with me to the hospital right now and help me keep Aurora company."
Ella knew she couldn't delay any longer. She quickly signed the equity transfer agreement and the divorce agreement where she left with nothing.
She stood up and grabbed Joshua's hand, "Let's go."
Joshua was about to follow, but Ava stopped him.
"Ella, don't be so disgusting. Making Joshua keep company with bastards you had with someone else—what do you think Joshua is, some kind of pushover?"
She knocked Ella's hand away and ordered Joshua, "Joshua, I won't interfere with anything else you do, but what does Ella's child have to do with you? Why should you keep her company? If you go, I'll bash my head in and die right in front of you."
Joshua naturally took Ava's side.
He bent down to pick up the two agreements Ella had signed, had the butler put them away, then said to Ella, "You go first. I'll come over after I finish what I'm doing."
Ella looked at Joshua with pleading, hopeful eyes. "You promised me. You have to keep your word."
Really worried about Aurora, she didn't delay any further and turned to leave.
"That bitch, letting her go like this is too easy on her."
Watching Ella's disappearing figure, Ava still felt unsatisfied, and looked at Joshua again.
"Joshua, go divorce her on Monday and make her disappear forever. I never want to see her again in my life."
Joshua's handsome face darkened as he said irritably, "Mom, why have you become so bitter and mean? Ella's young and doesn't know better—why do you need to argue with her?"
When he saw Ella come over, he had been thinking that if Ella came to make peace with him.
He could let bygones be bygones and forgive all her mistakes.
But he had been overthinking it.
Ella just wanted to clear her name.
In her heart, she had never thought about having a future with him.
Thinking about how Ella had already signed that divorce agreement leaving with nothing, Joshua's heart inexplicably felt sour.
He turned and went upstairs.
Ava, afraid Joshua would dislike her, restrained herself quite a bit, but still couldn't help shouting at Joshua's back, "You're not allowed to care about Ella and her two little bastards anymore. Since you've agreed to marry Scarlett, start preparing for your wedding."
Ella returned to the hospital, where the doctor had just finished emergency treatment on Aurora.
She rushed forward and grabbed the doctor anxiously. "How is Aurora? Is she okay?"
The doctor shook his head and sighed, his face grave.
"I told you not to let the child keep crying. She's already in poor health and prone to alkalosis. If she keeps crying like this, even God can't save her."
"Whatever she wants to do, try to satisfy her. Don't let her wake up and cry again."
The doctor gave a few more instructions before leaving.
Ella knew Aurora wanted her dad.
She had already told Joshua, hoping he would really come and help her this once.
Looking at Aurora lying unconscious in bed, her little face deathly pale, she walked to the bedside and held Aurora's hand, tears falling from heartache.
Zachary said to her, "The doctor said Aurora has intermittent amnesia. Does she still remember you?"
Ella shook her head.
When Aurora woke up, she had clung to Joshua, calling him daddy the whole time, not even wanting her own mother.
She didn't know why this was happening.
Aurora and Joshua hadn't spent much time together before, and they weren't even close. Yet when Aurora woke up, she didn't recognize anyone except Joshua.
This put Ella in a difficult position.
What if Joshua didn't come? What if Aurora woke up again and still wanted Joshua?
She was very worried.
Dorian was lying on the other side of the bed, holding Aurora's little hand and examining her.
After a moment, he let go and looked at his mother.
"Mom, Aurora's condition is very serious. Should I have Mr. Harris come look at her? Otherwise Aurora might die."
Aurora was too weak.
Plus with her amnesia, not remembering them, they couldn't comfort Aurora at all.
At this point, it would be best to have the most capable Samuel come over.
Ella didn't want to trouble Samuel.
And she wasn't sure now whether the children were Samuel's or not.
If she could avoid letting him have contact with the children, that would be best.
"Dorian, what's the full name of this Mr. Harris you mentioned?"
Zachary asked curiously.
He also knew a very capable doctor here with the last name Harris.
Dorian answered honestly, "His name is Samuel. He's a really good person with amazing medical skills. He's even teaching me medicine."
Zachary was somewhat surprised and looked at Ella.
"You know Samuel too?"
Ella deflected, "You know him?"
Zachary smiled, "Of course. Our families' elders have connections, and I've met him a few times. I just called him to come over. He's probably on his way now."
With Samuel here, Aurora should be fine.
He really trusted that man's medical skills.
Ella fell silent.
She hadn't expected the world to be so small, with acquaintances everywhere.
She couldn't stop Samuel from coming now, so she could only tell Zachary honestly that she knew Samuel through the Thomas family.
When Samuel arrived and saw Ella and Dorian in the hospital room.
And lying in the bed was actually Aurora.
Then looking at Zachary, he was completely puzzled. "How do you all know each other?"
Zachary made no attempt to hide it, "The two children are mine. What do you think?"
