Chapter 90
Upon learning that Aurora was seriously injured in the hospital, Zachary quickly rushed over with Dorian.
Seeing that Aurora's condition was indeed not good, Zachary came to Ella's side to comfort her, "Don't worry, I know a doctor here. I'll have her come check on Aurora."
Ella nodded.
What she was worried about was Aurora waking up and asking for her dad again.
What if she only wanted Joshua?
And that Joshua seemed to really be set on Scarlett.
Thinking about the crimes Scarlett had committed, Ella couldn't just stand by and watch her easily marry Joshua and live happily ever after.
She had to go back to the Thomas family to find out the truth.
Looking at Zachary, Ella felt comfortable leaving her child with him.
"Stay at the hospital and watch over them for me. I have something to take care of first."
"What are you going to do? Don't go looking for Scarlett to do something stupid again. This is Emerald City. If you hurt someone again, I can't guarantee I can protect you."
He still had the ability to protect her back in Eldoria.
This wasn't his territory after all. If Ella did something stupid again, some things would become very tricky to handle.
"Don't worry, I have Aurora and Dorian. I won't be that impulsive anymore."
Ella gave Dorian a few more instructions, then left the hospital and headed to the Thomas Manor.
It was evening when she arrived. The housekeeper welcomed her in.
She called out to the family of three dining in the dining room.
"Mr. Thomas, Mrs. Thomas is back."
Jasper, Ava, and Joshua looked over at the sound.
Seeing Ella coming, they were all somewhat angry.
Especially Joshua.
He thought Ella had enough sense to just wait until Monday to finalize the divorce with him, and wouldn't come around them anymore.
He didn't expect her to personally show up at the Thomas Manor.
And what was her purpose for coming here?
Joshua had no idea.
"Ella, how do you still have the nerve to come here?"
The first to lose her temper was Ava, who stood up ready to go teach Ella a good lesson.
After all, her crimes were unforgivable.
Not only did she hide from everyone that she had given birth to a child, she also made Aiden so angry he died.
That heartless thing shouldn't appear in the Thomas family again.
But before Ava could walk out, Joshua raised his hand to stop her.
"Mom, sit down. We'll handle our own business. We'll finalize the divorce by Monday at the latest. It won't drag on too long."
"But she..."
Ava wanted to teach Ella a lesson. That little bitch - the Thomas family had treated her well, yet she brought shame to the Thomas family.
Made Joshua the laughingstock of all of Emerald City.
If she didn't teach her a lesson, how could Ava swallow this anger?
"Mom, if you don't want this divorce to keep dragging on, don't interfere in my business with her."
Joshua's face darkened. As he walked toward Ella, he grabbed her and dragged her upstairs.
Once upstairs, he finally let her go and asked coldly, "What are you here for?"
Even if Ella came to beg him, he wouldn't change his mind.
Unless she was very sincere.
Maybe then he'd consider it.
"I came to investigate Grandpa's death. Joshua, when I confessed to Grandpa back then, he didn't blame me. He even asked me to bring Dorian home to see him."
"I don't believe Grandpa was made so angry by me that he died. He must have been killed by Scarlett. Pull up the surveillance from the day Grandpa died. I want to see if Scarlett went near Grandpa."
She couldn't just carry the blame for making Aiden so angry he died.
Even if she had to leave this family, she had to leave with a clear conscience.
"You came to investigate Grandpa's death?"
Joshua didn't hear the answer he wanted to hear. He was very unhappy, and his expression was cold as he faced Ella.
"Do you think you're the only smart one, and we're all idiots who won't investigate and will just let the killer get away with it?"
When he heard her say there was something suspicious about Aiden's death, he had people investigate.
But there was no evidence proving it was Scarlett's doing.
If he couldn't find anything, what made Ella think she could find evidence pointing to Scarlett?
"You investigated?"
Ella pressed him.
If even Joshua couldn't find evidence of Scarlett's crime, then she definitely couldn't either.
The reason Scarlett personally admitted it to her was because she was confident no one could find any trace of evidence.
That vicious woman - how did she manage to leave no trace at all?
"Leave now, or if my parents do something to you, I won't bother to help you."
Joshua didn't want to waste words with her and pushed her to leave.
Ella was somewhat reluctant and asked again to make sure, "You really investigated?"
"I investigated. I brought in all the servants in the house and questioned them. I checked all the surveillance ten times. It wasn't Scarlett's doing, do you understand?"
Joshua really didn't have much patience. "If you don't leave now, I'll throw you out."
With Ava's personality, if she waited a few more minutes, she probably wouldn't be able to stand Ella's presence.
She actually dared to come here without fear of death.
Wasn't kneeling at the door last time enough for her?
Ella slowly went downstairs, but after a few steps, she turned back to look at Joshua.
"Even if there's no evidence proving Scarlett is the killer, the fact that she kidnapped my Aurora and almost killed us is real. Joshua, are you really going to marry her?"
Before, she didn't care about Joshua being with Scarlett.
But after Scarlett did so many bad things, she couldn't stand the thought of her marrying Joshua without a care in the world.
She hoped Joshua would open his eyes and not get involved with such a vicious woman.
"Joshua would rather marry a murderer than want a shameless bitch like you who had children with someone else."
From downstairs came Ava's angry voice.
"Someone, drag her down here to sign the agreement and then throw her out."
The butler nodded, signaling to the servants nearby.
The servants hurried upstairs to drag Ella down.
Joshua watched and quickly followed downstairs. He also wanted to know what Ava was making Ella sign.
It was a share transfer agreement, something Aiden had given to Ella before he died.
Looking at it, Ella's eyes suddenly turned red.
She had always known Aiden treated her well.
She didn't expect that something as valuable as company shares, Aiden had given to her, and even more than Joshua's.
Ella was pressed down on her knees by the servants. Ava threw her a pen.
"Sign it, and this divorce agreement where you leave with nothing. Sign them and I'll let you go."
Joshua stood nearby without saying anything.
For a brainless woman like Ella, having company shares was useless anyway.
Giving them back was the best option, to prevent them from falling into the hands of someone with bad intentions.
Ella hesitated.
She thought about how if she signed these two agreements in front of her, and Joshua married Scarlett, then Scarlett would get a share.
She was unwilling. She looked at Joshua.
"I can sign, but you have to sign one for me too. If you don't marry Scarlett, I'll voluntarily give up all the property. But if you insist on marrying Scarlett, I won't sign."
That was Aiden's life's work.
How could she let Aiden's life's work fall into the hands of the person who killed him?
"Ella, do you have the right to negotiate with me?"
Joshua was too lazy to waste time with her and dropped a harsh threat.
"If you want your daughter to be okay, just sign obediently. Otherwise, with one word from me, I can take your daughter's life."
