Chapter 54

Chapter 54

Ella...

Joshua murmured.

His eyes were glued to the computer screen.

He could hardly believe that the person who took Dorian was Ella.

It was his wife, Ella.

She wasn't dead.

Not only was she alive, she had come back on her own and taken Dorian away.

Joshua suddenly became nervous and lost, standing there stiffly, trying to calm himself down.

This couldn't be a hallucination.

It had to be real.

He knew it - if they couldn't find a body, Ella might still be alive.

She really was alive.

Thank God, his Ella was alive.

Joshua was thrilled. After settling his emotions, he pulled out his phone and called Brian.

When Brian answered, he said excitedly, "Listen to me, Ella's not dead. She came back, but she left again, took Dorian with her. Pull up all the surveillance footage from the area right now. I need to know where she is immediately."

Brian was shocked.

He found it unbelievable. How could Ella not be dead?

It had been a month since she fell into the sea.

Joshua had even held a funeral for her, using her belongings as a stand-in for her ashes.

And now he was saying Ella wasn't dead and had come back?

To verify whether what Joshua said was true, Brian didn't hesitate. After hanging up, he immediately sent people to investigate.

Joshua was still standing in the surveillance room, watching Ella's figure on the computer screen over and over.

His long fingers gently touched Ella's image on the screen. His heart ached in waves, and even breathing became difficult.

"Ella, it's really you, isn't it?"

"You're not dead. Why did you only come back now?"

Joshua cried tears of joy.

But he couldn't understand why Ella, having returned, didn't come to him but instead took Dorian and left.

Where was she taking Dorian?

Terrified that his wife, who had finally come back alive, would leave him again, Joshua couldn't wait another moment. He immediately went out to search.

Just as he was driving around the city, Brian called.

Knowing there must be news about Ella, Joshua answered and asked urgently, "Where's Ella? Give me the address and I'll go get her."

Brian said, "I had the traffic department pull up the surveillance footage and sent it to you. Mr. Thomas, that person does seem to be Mrs. Thomas, but she and Dorian appeared to willingly get into someone else's car. I'm checking on the identity of those people now."

Joshua opened the surveillance video on his phone.

In the video, on a street not far from their residential area, Ella was holding Dorian and surrounded by several people in black as she got into a car.

Joshua could tell that Ella didn't look like she was being forced.

So who were these people?

How did Ella know them?

The more Joshua watched, the more panicked he felt.

Joshua suddenly had an ominous feeling.

He was afraid Ella was deliberately avoiding him, running from him.

That she had faked her death to get away because she didn't want to be with him, and after they all believed she was really dead, she came back to find a chance to take Dorian away.

Joshua couldn't accept that Ella had left him willingly.

Sitting in his car, he kept trying to convince himself that it couldn't be what he was thinking.

He'd wait until he found Ella and asked her himself before drawing any conclusions.

In the countryside, at the castle.

A doctor came to examine Dorian and said he was in a prolonged sleep due to an overdose of sleeping pills.

Ella couldn't believe that Joshua would give Dorian sleeping pills just so he could have sex with Scarlett.

How could they be so cruel?

Dorian was only three years old. A large dose of sleeping pills could damage his organs.

Her heart aching for Dorian, Ella leaned down to kiss him. Thinking of Aurora, not knowing where she was or whether she was alive or dead, her heart filled with worry again.

Just then, a servant pushed the door open and said respectfully, "Mrs. Johnson, Mr. Johnson asks you to come for dinner."

Ella felt extremely uncomfortable with how they addressed her.

But she couldn't stop it.

After all, Michael was a madman.

To avoid a lot of unnecessary trouble, she could only go along with it.

After getting up and adjusting her emotions, Ella followed the servant downstairs.

In the gorgeous, bright dining room, under the expensive crystal chandelier, at the end of the long dining table, Michael sat in his custom-tailored expensive clothes.

Sitting there noble and elegant, stunningly handsome.

Ella walked over and was helped by servants to sit beside him.

Michael looked at her, his eyes tender as water.

"Ella, eat. Look how thin you've gotten. You need to eat more and get nice and plump, okay?"

Ella nodded and asked softly, "Any news about Aurora?"

"You mean the child? Not yet."

Michael cursed out of nowhere, "Raised a bunch of useless people who can't even find a little kid. Don't worry, Ella, I'll kill them later to make you feel better."

He served food to Ella, his actions seeming so normal.

Ella didn't dare ask for more.

Otherwise, if Michael really killed someone, how terrifying would that be?

She ate with her head down, her heart always worried about Aurora.

She didn't know if Aurora could still come back.

She didn't know who wanted her and the children dead.

Perhaps staying by Michael's side would be temporarily safer.

Just then, the butler came to report, "Mr. Johnson, there's a distinguished guest here to see you. He's the CEO of the Thomas Group, Joshua. Will you see him?"

Hearing Joshua's name, Ella's nerves tightened and she suddenly looked up.

Michael saw her unusual reaction and asked, "Ella, you know him?"

Ella felt guilty and didn't dare look at him.

Had Joshua come because she took Dorian?

Or was he here to talk about divorce?

Whatever it was, she couldn't hide it from Michael anymore, or the consequences when he had an episode would be unthinkable.

Gathering her courage to meet Michael's gaze, Ella could only soften.

"If I tell you, can you please not get angry?"

Michael laughed.

But his eyes gathered the bloodiness before a storm.

His voice was clearly gentle, yet gave people a terrifying sense of killing without a trace.

"Ella, you tell me. How could I be angry? I never get angry at Ella."

Ella knew he would be angry.

That look of his clearly had a knife hidden in his smile.

As if the next second, after learning the truth, he would take her life.

But she still had to tell the truth.

"Joshua is my husband, but I'll divorce him very soon. If you think I'm dirty, you can kick me out. I won't complain at all."

After speaking, Ella's heart was filled with worry.

She didn't care about Michael's feelings.

She was just afraid that when Michael went crazy, he would hurt her and Dorian.

She didn't care about herself, but Dorian was her life. She absolutely wouldn't let Dorian be hurt again.

"Ella, you're lying to me again, aren't you?"

Michael stood up, held Ella tightly in his arms, his expression panicked, speaking incoherently, "Your husband should be me, shouldn't it? How can you have another husband besides me?"

"Don't you love me? Did you forget all about me during those ten years we were apart?"

"Say something, Ella."

Michael was emotional, his hands moving to Ella's neck, gripping it to make her look up, his eyes bloodshot as he glared at her.

"Tell me, don't you love me? Why do you have a husband other than me?"
