Chapter 52
Ella's body instantly froze, her eyes peering through the crack in the door.
Although the room was dimly lit and she couldn't see clearly, as a woman, how could Ella not know what was happening inside?
She knew it was exactly what she thought.
But Ella still couldn't give up. She gently pushed open the door, her feet unconsciously walking into the room.
When she saw with her own eyes Joshua on top of someone else, his upper body completely bare.
Ella felt like a thousand arrows piercing her heart, as if her internal organs were shattering.
At that moment, the woman beneath Joshua moaned pleadingly, "Joshua, don't do this, can you be gentler? It hurts."
After clearly hearing it was Scarlett's voice, Ella really couldn't continue watching and turned to rush out the door.
She leaned against the cold wall by the doorway, tears streaming down her face.
She thought she truly didn't care about what was between Joshua and Scarlett.
But seeing them having sex on her marital bed with her own eyes, Ella still felt incredibly humiliated and hopeless.
So during the month she was gone, Joshua didn't care at all.
Not only did he not care, he even brought Scarlett here to have sex.
How could he be so morally bankrupt?
How could he act like she didn't exist?
Ella felt her chest hurt so much she could barely breathe. Not wanting to waste time on two people who weren't worth it, she hurried to the children's room.
Entering the room, she saw only Dorian on the big bed, but no Aurora.
Ella panicked and quickly woke Dorian.
"Dorian, where's Aurora? Hasn't Aurora come back?"
"Dorian, it's Mom, wake up, wake up..."
No matter how much she called, Dorian on the bed remained deeply asleep, not moving at all.
Ella realized something and immediately picked up Dorian to leave.
She couldn't wake Dorian - who knew if those two people had given him some drug?
After all, Joshua had always hated her two children.
After she left, how could he treat her children well?
Passing by the master bedroom door, she could still hear the rising and falling moans of a man and woman inside.
Ella was heartbroken and didn't want to stay another moment. She hurried away carrying Dorian.
Leaving the villa and reaching the roadside, she quickly tried to hail a car to the police station.
She had to report to the police to find her Aurora.
Aurora definitely hadn't come back.
She didn't know if she was dead or alive.
But no matter the cost, she had to find Aurora.
It was nine o'clock at night.
On the road by this villa district, taxis rarely passed by.
Ella had no phone on her and couldn't call a ride-share, so she could only walk along the roadside holding her son, hoping to run into a taxi or a kind person.
When she had walked halfway and still hadn't encountered a passing taxi, several black cars came speeding up and stopped.
A group of men in black got out and quickly blocked her path.
They bowed respectfully to Ella, "Mrs. Johnson, please come back with us."
Ella held the unconscious Dorian tightly in her arms, looking at the group of people surrounding her.
She knew Michael's people had found her.
She couldn't escape.
Forget going to the police station. She didn't even have a chance to return to Tranquil Villa.
To prevent them from hurting her child, Ella obediently got in the car.
Tranquil Villa.
In the dimly lit room filled with an ambiguous atmosphere.
Joshua still had some rationality left. Pinning Scarlett beneath him, he gripped her neck, his voice hoarse, "You're not Ella. Ella is dead, she can't come back."
He roughly pulled her up and threw her off the bed, pointing at the door and shouting, "Get out, get out of here."
Scarlett was thrown to the floor, her face changing with pain.
She hadn't expected that even naked, she couldn't make the drugged Joshua lose control.
He was clearly in his thirties, at the peak of his sexual drive.
Why would he rather endure it than touch her?
Seeing Joshua's flushed face, looking really uncomfortable from holding back, Scarlett wasn't willing to give up. She got up and approached him again.
"Joshua, did you misunderstand me somehow?"
"I didn't mean to do anything, I'm just worried about you. Your face is so red, let me help you, okay?"
As Scarlett spoke, she lifted her chin to kiss him.
But Joshua lost his composure and slapped her, struggling to restrain himself while shouting, "I told you to get out, get out!"
The slap made Scarlett's ears ring.
She was shocked and couldn't accept it.
This usually refined and gentlemanly Joshua had actually hit her.
He actually hit a woman.
Scarlett couldn't accept Joshua becoming so rough and showing her no tenderness. She got up, put on her clothes, and rushed out the door.
Joshua collapsed on the bed, the burning heat in his body making him sweat profusely, his whole body sticky.
Even though holding back was driving him crazy, he still wouldn't settle for touching another woman.
He missed Ella so much.
Lying on the big bed, staring at the ceiling with open eyes, what flowed from the corners of his eyes - whether tears or sweat - soaked the sheets beneath him.
After leaving Tranquil Villa, Scarlett didn't dare return to the Lewis Villa.
Because in that house, only Mason was good to her.
Her adoptive parents appeared to care for her, but deep down they still looked down on her, especially after learning that Ella and Joshua were married - they became even more passive-aggressive toward her.
To prove something to her adoptive parents, she vowed to become Joshua's wife.
But after tonight, Joshua would definitely be disgusted with her.
Thinking about how she had worked hard for so many years and ended up with nothing, while also having blood on her hands.
She felt helpless and hopeless, returning alone to her own apartment.
When she arrived, Scarlett didn't turn on the lights.
Passing through the entrance, she suddenly saw a figure sitting alone and desolately on the sofa in the dark living room.
Scarlett was startled and called out, "Who's there?"
She immediately turned on the light.
Seeing it was Mason, she finally let her heart settle.
Mason sat there, cold and dignified, looking up at her with a very cold voice, "What happened to your face?"
Scarlett quickly raised her hand to cover her swollen cheek and walked toward the kitchen, "It's nothing."
Mason's eyes followed her, "Weren't you at Tranquil Villa helping Ella take care of that orphan?"
Scarlett didn't answer him, getting ice to apply to her face.
Mason continued, "Ella is dead. Do you think Joshua will marry you now?"
Scarlett lowered her head, thinking about the injury on her face and tonight's Joshua.
She knew that no matter how hard she tried, Joshua probably would never truly marry her.
Besides, the Thomas family didn't like her either.
But to just give up like this - she really wasn't willing.
Seeing that Scarlett still wouldn't respond and her face was badly injured, Mason got up and took the ice from her hand, applying it to her face himself.
"Don't degrade yourself. Men hate women who are too forward."
But he hoped to be the object of Scarlett's forwardness.
Scarlett felt uncomfortable under Mason's burning gaze. She took back the ice and turned her back to him, lying, "Joshua and I are fine. The child hurt my face, it has nothing to do with Joshua."
