Chapter 123
Heath and Rhea looked at their two disappointing children with both disappointment and anger.
Seeing Joshua was also there, and remembering they had held a three-day banquet to celebrate finding their daughter, with many guests still in the house today, they didn't want to air their dirty laundry in public. Heath scolded, "You two, go back to your rooms and don't come out making fools of yourselves."
Heath then looked at Joshua and directly told him to leave, "Joshua, since you called off the wedding, that ceremony doesn't count. We don't blame you, you can go now!"
How could they have the nerve to blame others?
It was their own adopted daughter and son who got together. Technically speaking, they were the ones who wronged the Thomas family first.
But for the sake of face, Heath didn't want to apologize to a younger person.
Joshua knew the wedding matter wasn't his fault.
The Lewis family was reasonable and naturally wouldn't blame him.
Coming here today wasn't about the wedding either.
Looking at Heath, Joshua said frankly, "I'm here to find Ella. Ella is here, right?"
Heath took on a father's posture, looking down at Joshua from above, asking, "What do you want with her? Didn't you two divorce a long time ago?"
A man who divorced Ella and then turned around to marry Scarlett couldn't be any good.
As long as Ella didn't want it, he would never let Joshua hurt Ella again.
Joshua didn't have a good attitude. He just wanted to see Ella.
His tone became forceful when speaking to Heath, "Whether Ella and I are divorced or not doesn't seem to have much to do with the Lewis family, does it? I don't know how Mason tricked her into coming here, but now I'm taking her away."
He wouldn't leave without taking Ella.
Seeing Joshua getting bold, Heath snorted. Without revealing his daughter's identity, he confronted him, "What if I don't let you take her today?"
Joshua was stunned.
He didn't understand why Heath would oppose him over Ella.
Or had they done something to Ella?
Worried about Ella, Joshua tried to force his way into the house to find her.
Mason blocked him, "Joshua, that's enough. Ella is my sister. We can't let you take her away."
However, at these words, Joshua was shocked.
Not just him—Scarlett beside him was even more stunned.
She grabbed Mason and asked in disbelief, "What are you saying? You're lying to me, right?"
No way, how could Ella be Mason's sister, how could she be the Lewis family's daughter?
The Lewis family's daughter had been taken away and lost twenty years ago.
They hadn't found her in twenty years, so how could they have found Ella?
Besides, Ella and Flora didn't look alike at all.
Scarlett couldn't accept this fact.
Mason explained to her, "Ella is my sister. We did a DNA test, there's no mistake."
Scarlett staggered back a step, then looked at Heath and Rhea on the steps.
They weren't dealing with her and Mason's situation right now because they had found their long-lost daughter and couldn't be bothered with her anymore?
But how did Ella suddenly become the Lewis family's daughter?
Scarlett couldn't figure it out.
Joshua couldn't figure it out either. He grabbed Mason, "What nonsense are you talking about? Ella has a grandfather. She was sent to my family by her grandfather. How could she be your sister?"
Mason pushed him away, "The world's connections are just that wonderful. Whether you can accept it or not, you have to accept it."
Then he took Scarlett's hand and turned to go inside.
Joshua tried to follow, but Heath put on an elder's posture to stop him, "Joshua, our family needs to handle family matters. We won't keep you, please leave!"
Then he put his arm around Rhea and went inside, having the butler see the guest out.
Joshua didn't follow.
He was trying to calm himself down.
The Lewis family had held a three-day banquet because they found their daughter, sending invitations to many guests.
But they didn't invite the Thomas family.
So the daughter they found was really Ella?
Ella was the Lewis family's daughter who had been lost for twenty years?
Joshua walked out of the Lewis Villa gate. Somehow, he felt happy for Ella, but also worried that now that Ella had someone to rely on, she wouldn't need him anymore.
Getting into the car, he took out his phone and called Ella again.
But he still couldn't get through, and his messages were blocked.
Turning to look at the Lewis Villa, Joshua's heart was filled with mixed feelings.
Inside the villa.
When Ella came downstairs, she happened to run into Mason leading Scarlett upstairs.
She blocked their way, pretending to be generous, "Mason, I told you Mom and Dad wouldn't blame Scarlett when she came back."
Then she took Scarlett's hand and gripped it tightly in her palm, "Scarlett, even though Joshua doesn't want you anymore, Mason does. From now on, you'll be Mason's wife and my sister-in-law. We should get along well."
Scarlett stiffened, watching Ella's act. She wanted to pull her hand back but couldn't.
To stay in this house, no matter how much she hated Ella, she had to keep pretending, "Okay, we'll get along well from now on. Thank you, Ella."
"You're welcome."
Ella let go of her and stepped aside, "Go back to your room first. I need to talk to Mason about something."
Scarlett had no choice but to leave Mason and return to her room.
Mason didn't expect Ella to be so generous.
Not only did she not blame Scarlett for ordering him to hurt her before, but she was also willing to accept Scarlett staying in this house.
He looked at Ella and said sincerely, "Thank you, Ella. From now on, whatever you want, whatever you want to do, just tell me and I'll definitely satisfy you."
Ella laughed softly, "Really? You'll satisfy anything I want?"
Mason nodded.
Ella acted like a little girl, affectionately linking her arm with his and saying coquettishly, "Then I want all your assets, I want the inheritance rights of the Lewis family. Are you willing to give them to me?"
This Mason wasn't a good person either.
She almost died at his hands before.
If she could shamelessly get his assets and make him and Scarlett beg on the streets in the future, that wouldn't be bad.
Mason frowned slightly, not expecting Ella to ask for so much.
He hesitated, not knowing how to answer.
Ella laughed and teased, "I'm just joking with you. You're the heir of the Lewis family. How could I compete with you?"
Seeing Heath and Rhea coming in, she smiled and went up to them, "Mom, Dad, it's so late and you're still not resting?"
Heath and Rhea had heard what Ella said.
They exchanged glances as Ella walked toward them.
Rhea pulled Ella over, "Flora, what were you just saying you wanted?"
Ella's expression changed, and she pouted, "I was joking with Mason. I don't want anything."
Heath glared hatefully at Mason on the stairs. Thinking of his shameful affair with Scarlett, he couldn't help but curse, "That worthless thing—if the Lewis family is handed to him, it'll be ruined sooner or later."
Then he took Ella's hand and said generously, "Ella, you've been away from us for twenty years and suffered so much. Never mind all of Mason's assets—we'll give you everything in the Lewis family."
Even so, Heath still felt he couldn't make it up to Ella.
"Rest for a few days, then come with me to the company to learn. From now on, you'll be in charge of the company."
