Chapter 115
Looking at the face suddenly looming large before her, Ella got angry and raised her hand to push Joshua away.
When she couldn't push him off, she opened her mouth and bit him.
Only when he felt the pain and tasted the strong metallic flavor of blood in his mouth did Joshua let her go, raising his hand to touch the blood on his lips.
"Are you a dog? Biting so hard."
Ella was furious and raised her hand to slap him.
But this time Joshua didn't indulge her. He easily caught her hand and then let it go with exasperation.
"I let you hit me a few times, but why do you keep going?"
"You're just a scoundrel, a creep. Joshua, do you know how disgusting you are?"
Ella's face flushed red with anger, her teeth clenched. She wished Joshua would just die.
If he hadn't acted this way four years ago, would she have gone abroad?
Really not wanting to see him anymore, Ella turned and stormed out.
Joshua didn't chase after her.
The pain on his lips reminded him that he needed to be rational and stop having any fantasies about Ella, otherwise he would bring trouble to her.
Since he had agreed to marry Scarlett, he should just go through with the wedding.
Ella drove away, full of resentment.
She had originally planned to visit Aurora's grave, but Mason called.
She was still angry, so her tone wasn't friendly, "What is it?"
Mason asked her, "Where are you now? Can I pick you and the child up and take you somewhere? I need you to cooperate with me for a while."
He had told Scarlett that he'd handled everything.
If Scarlett found out Ella was still alive, she would definitely make a fuss.
So during this time, he had to get Ella to cooperate and hide.
At least until after Joshua's wedding, she shouldn't appear.
Ella didn't understand, "Why?"
"After Joshua's wedding is over, I'll explain everything, okay? I'll come pick you and the child up now."
Ella thought that she had already revealed her identity to Mason, so he wouldn't do anything to her and the child, would he?
Ella agreed and went to pick up Dorian first.
Eventually she learned it was to keep her away from Scarlett, to keep her out of Scarlett's sight.
Although somewhat angry, Ella still cooperated with him.
But she didn't leave. Instead, she stayed with Dorian at Zachary's place the whole time.
Mason felt a bit guilty. Before leaving, he touched Dorian's head and told him gently, "Dorian, you stay here with your mom for now. When uncle finishes his business, I'll come take you both home."
Dorian avoided his touch and ignored him, even hiding behind Ella in disgust.
Ella wasn't too happy either, "Just go. Don't worry, I won't ruin Scarlett and Joshua's wedding."
Even though she hated Scarlett, if Joshua insisted on marrying her, then let them have their way.
Someday, Joshua would regret it.
Mason had things to do, so he left first.
He would explain to Ella later why he had to do this.
After Mason left, Zachary picked up Dorian in his arms and looked at Ella, asking, "What did Mason mean by that? How did he become the child's uncle?"
Thinking Zachary was one of her own, Ella didn't hide it from him and told him the truth, "I did a DNA test with the Lewis family. The results showed that we're family."
Even now, she found it surreal that she had a blood relationship with the Lewis family.
So Rhea, whom she had run into with her car the other day, was her biological mother.
If Rhea knew she was their daughter, would she be happy?
Ella didn't know.
But to make Scarlett pay, if Rhea came looking for her, she might go back to the Lewis family with her.
"You're part of the Lewis family? Don't you have your own family? How did you suddenly become Mason's family?"
Zachary still hadn't processed it.
Scarlett had sent people to kidnap Aurora and killed Aiden.
Ella was worried about finding evidence to put Scarlett in jail, but now she learned she was part of the Lewis family.
That meant she and that vicious Scarlett had become family.
This was too absurd.
Ella didn't know the specifics either.
She could only ask Rhea about it later.
Remembering that Mason had asked her not to go out these days, she could only stay indoors.
In the blink of an eye, Joshua and Scarlett's wedding day arrived.
Because Aiden had just passed away, the Thomas family didn't want to hold a big wedding.
They simply arranged it at a five-star hotel, with only the Thomas family's close friends and relatives attending.
The Lewis family, on the other hand, had quite a few relatives.
The entire wedding hall was decorated like a dream, very classy.
Scarlett had been waiting in the hotel's dressing room early on.
She wore a wedding dress with exquisite makeup.
This was the fifth time she called Joshua, and he still didn't answer.
She started to get scared, afraid Joshua would back out, afraid that everything she had worked so hard to get would vanish.
Just as she was getting anxious, the dressing room door was pushed open.
Scarlett thought it was Joshua and excitedly turned around, lifting her wedding dress.
When she saw it was Mason, her expression changed and she said unhappily, "Why are you here?"
Mason had killed Ella, yet the police hadn't given him any trouble.
Had he really handled it so cleanly that Joshua and Zachary didn't know about Ella's death?
Otherwise, they wouldn't be this quiet.
"I came to see if you'd back out of the wedding."
Mason approached Scarlett and without hesitation grabbed her slim waist, pulling her close, "Scarlett, will you really back out at the wedding?"
He didn't quite believe it.
Since Scarlett and Joshua set the wedding date, she had been happy every day, busy with wedding preparations all by herself, having a great time.
Mason got close to Scarlett, looking at her stunningly beautiful appearance, going crazy with jealousy.
She could only be his.
If she didn't leave with him today, he would destroy her.
Scarlett, thinking about all the people here today and afraid of being seen, struggled to push him away, "Why are you in such a hurry? It's not time yet. And didn't I tell you to drive to the designated place and wait for me? What are you doing here?"
She absolutely couldn't let Mason ruin her wedding.
After today, she would be Joshua's wife.
No one could stop her from getting what she wanted.
Mason, having been pushed away, was about to do something cruel when Scarlett called out coldly, "Go wait for me where I told you. After the wedding starts and I back out, I'll come find you, and then we'll leave together."
Mason hesitated, and Scarlett pushed him out the door.
After closing the door, she hurriedly called Joshua again.
But the call still wouldn't go through.
Actually, Joshua was at the hotel.
He was in another dressing room, already changed into the formal wear for today.
For the fifth time, he asked Brian, "Has Ella shown up?"
Brian shook his head, "No."
Joshua didn't know why he felt disappointed.
Today he was marrying Scarlett, yet he was hoping Ella would appear.
Even if she didn't object to the wedding, it would be good if she just ruined it.
But on the other hand, Joshua was worried that if Ella really appeared, his mother would harm her.
He sat on the sofa, conflicted and in pain.
Brian asked him, "You still can't let go of Ms. Garcia?"
Joshua neither denied nor admitted it, "But I don't want to marry Scarlett."
If he didn't marry her, Scarlett would send Ella to jail, and Ava would also cause trouble for Ella.
He had thought that if he could find evidence of Scarlett's wrongdoing, he wouldn't have to marry her.
But so much time had passed, and he hadn't found a single clue.
Joshua knew that once he walked out this door, he would have to go through with the wedding.
That wasn't what he wanted.
"Mr. Thomas, this is a lifelong commitment. If you don't want to marry her, don't force yourself. Otherwise, how will you spend the rest of your life?"
Seeing Joshua's troubled face, even Brian felt sorry for him.
But Joshua said, "All our friends and family are here now. Wouldn't it be cruel to cancel the wedding on the spot?"
He had hurt Scarlett once before. If he hurt her a second time and Scarlett, like Ella, couldn't take it and committed suicide, what then?
He didn't want anyone to die.
Just then, the door was pushed open and Ava came in to urge him, "What are you still doing here? It's time. Go get the bride and head to the wedding venue."
This wedding was arranged by Scarlett herself, without much ceremony.
Joshua didn't like those formalities anyway.
He thought that since Ella wasn't showing up and the wedding had to go on, he might as well complete it.
He'd deal with the future later.
He got up and headed to the wedding venue.
