Chapter 114
Mason looked at the report and the hair in his hands, thinking that if Ella would do this, she definitely wouldn't fake it.
So she really was his sister Flora who had been lost for twenty years.
Flora had really come back, and she was right beside him.
But what had he done to her before?
Mason was filled with guilt. Just then, Scarlett called.
She asked right away, "How did things go? Did you take care of it?"
Mason stayed silent.
Ella was his real sister. How could he bear to hurt her again?
Thinking about what Ella said, not to tell anyone about their relationship for now, he didn't rush to come clean with Scarlett, but had another idea instead.
"Yes, all taken care of. We agreed that you'd call off the wedding and be with me."
Mason knew lying was wrong, but he also genuinely wanted to do anything for Scarlett.
It's just that now that Ella had become his sister, he couldn't possibly do anything to her anymore.
But he wanted to see if Scarlett would keep her word and really be willing to be with him.
Scarlett was obviously a bit skeptical, "You really took care of Ella? She's dead?"
Mason lied, "That's right. When are you calling off the wedding?"
After all, the wedding wasn't far away.
If she didn't call it off soon, it would be bad for everyone.
Scarlett couldn't hide her joy over Ella's death and said with a laugh, "Mason, why are you in such a hurry? Didn't I tell you I'd break up with him at the wedding? That way I can really humiliate Joshua."
"But I can't wait that long."
Mason couldn't have Ella play along with this act for that long either.
If Scarlett really had feelings for him, after he said things were handled, she should keep her promise and come back to him.
But she still wanted to wait until the wedding day.
What if she didn't want to call off the wedding that day?
Mason was getting anxious.
Scarlett didn't care about humoring him. As far as she was concerned, Ella was already dead.
No one would compete with her for the position of Joshua's wife anymore.
She didn't take Mason seriously at all and threw out, "You'll just have to wait whether you like it or not. I've got things to do, so I'm hanging up."
Scarlett hung up and continued happily trying on wedding dresses.
Joshua was with her, but his mind was elsewhere.
Just then, Ella's call came through.
He stepped away from Scarlett to answer it.
On the phone, Ella ordered, "Come back to Tranquil Villa this afternoon. Let me tell you, don't make any excuses to refuse, or you'll never see me again."
With that, the call ended, leaving Joshua standing there full of worries.
He didn't know what Ella was up to now.
But he had promised Ava he wouldn't go looking for her anymore, otherwise Ava would make a move against her.
But he was also afraid Ella might do something stupid.
Joshua put away his phone and saw Scarlett come out in another wedding dress. He said with no interest, "You keep trying them on. I have some things at the company, I'm leaving first."
Without even giving Scarlett another glance, he turned and walked out.
Scarlett didn't even have time to call out to him before he disappeared.
She stamped her feet in anger.
But then she thought, could it be that news of Ella's death had reached Joshua's ears, and that's why he rushed off?
That must be it.
Thinking that she would soon be Joshua's wife, Scarlett felt there was no need to fuss about it now. After all, she and Joshua had a long future ahead, plenty of time.
That afternoon, Joshua still went to Tranquil Villa.
Afraid something might happen to Ella, he couldn't just ignore her.
He thought he was early enough, but as soon as he walked in, he saw Ella sitting on the living room sofa, her face cold and dark, like something had happened.
Joshua walked toward her, pretending to be cold, "What did you call me here for?"
Ella stood up to meet him and angrily raised her hand to slap him.
But she still didn't feel satisfied, so she slapped him again with her other hand.
When she was about to hit him again, Joshua reacted and grabbed her hand, looking confused, "Ella, what are you doing? What did I do to upset you now? Why are you hitting me as soon as you see me?"
This Ella was really being ridiculous.
Joshua thought she couldn't let go, that she wanted to see him, so he rushed over, only to get two hard slaps from her.
He was a man in his thirties—when had he ever suffered such humiliation?
Ella's eyes reddened as she glared at Joshua.
Four years. She never imagined that the father of her children would be Joshua.
Ella thought about the hardships she and her children had endured these four years, thought about Aurora's illness, how when she needed him, he coldly refused to help.
And sweet Aurora could never come back.
Staring at Joshua now, Ella was filled with grief and anger, heartbroken.
But she didn't want to tell him the truth, didn't want him to know the two children were his.
If she told him, he would definitely fight her for Dorian.
But Joshua—Ella hated him completely. She never wanted anything to do with him again for the rest of her life.
Once she got her revenge, she would immediately take Dorian and disappear forever.
"Ella, what's wrong?"
Seeing Ella staring at him with tears falling, not knowing what had happened, Joshua inexplicably felt heartache.
He unconsciously raised his hand to wipe her tears, his voice softening a bit, "Tell me, what happened?"
Ella held back her emotions, avoided his touch, and replied coldly, "Nothing happened. I just hate you and wanted to slap you a couple times. Now leave."
This damn Joshua—she would never forgive him.
He would never get Dorian to call him dad in this lifetime.
Once she dealt with Scarlett, she would take Dorian and disappear.
Let him never know for the rest of his life that Dorian was his child.
"Do you know what you're doing?"
Joshua was baffled. Ella called him over just because she hated him, to slap him twice and that's it?
What did she take him for, a dog to be called over and sent away at will?
Ella saw he still wasn't convinced and acted superior, "What's wrong with that? I just hate you, I hate you to death. If I don't hit you, I can't swallow this anger. Now that I've hit you, you can get lost."
If Joshua knew that Aurora, whom he had refused to save back then, was his own daughter, would he feel any guilt?
Probably not.
After all, he loved Scarlett and was so eager to marry her. Maybe Scarlett was already pregnant with his child.
This kind of bastard—she didn't care for him at all.
She never wanted anything to do with him again for the rest of her life.
"Don't you think you're being completely unreasonable and ridiculous?"
Joshua was angry now, his handsome face darkening, "Do you know how busy I am? I rushed over worried something happened to you, and this is how you treat me?"
Ella didn't want to look at him anymore and turned her back to him, "That's right, I am being unreasonable. Get lost. I never want to see you again for the rest of my life."
She turned to leave, wanting to go to the cemetery to see Aurora.
But Joshua reached out and grabbed her.
He thought about how he was about to marry Scarlett, that in the future there would be no chance, and he wouldn't have any contact with Ella anymore.
Feeling really angry now, to punish Ella, he suddenly grabbed her head and forcefully kissed her.
