Chapter 109
Joshua recalled what happened four years ago. Seeing Ella wouldn't let it go, he didn't hide anything and admitted, "Yes, I was drunk at the time and didn't know who I was with. When I woke up the next day, Scarlett was beside me, so I thought it was her. That's why I brought her home to break off our engagement with Grandpa."
Joshua knew he had wronged Ella first.
So he could forgive Ella for having a child with someone else abroad. As long as she was willing to stay by his side, he could accept anything.
But now, even if Ella wanted to get back together with him, it wasn't possible anymore.
He had already promised Ava that he would marry Scarlett as soon as possible.
"Do you still remember what room number you woke up in that night?"
Ella was in a daze.
Even though the test results showed that Dorian had no blood relation with Joshua.
Why was his experience four years ago exactly the same as hers?
The man who touched her that night was also drunk.
And she had been drugged, unable to resist and could only comply.
When she woke up, she couldn't see anything clearly and ran out of the room immediately.
But Ella clearly remembered she was in room 2808.
Joshua thought for a moment and stated the room number accurately, "2808."
He looked at Ella, really not understanding why she was asking in such detail. Just as he was about to say something else.
The utensils in Ella's hand suddenly dropped onto the table.
She was a bit dazed, finding it hard to believe that the man that night was really Joshua.
Because she wasn't sure, she tried hard to steady her emotions. After dinner, she took the initiative to ask Joshua to stay the night.
She wanted to take his hair to do another test.
But Joshua said, "Scarlett and I are getting married in a month. I can't stay, I have to go back."
Since Ella's condition had improved a lot, and she had Dorian and was with Zachary.
Then he didn't need to worry anymore.
If he didn't marry Scarlett soon, Ava would think he and Ella still had a chance and would send people to harm Ella.
For Ella and Dorian to live well, he would try to have less contact with her in the future.
Ella was somewhat angry, "I told you that Grandpa died because Scarlett pulled out his oxygen tube. Why do you still want to marry her?"
She absolutely couldn't let Joshua marry Scarlett. That way, Joshua would die with regrets.
"Do you have proof?"
Joshua asked her back, "Without evidence, who would believe you based on empty words? On the contrary, what you did, everyone knows."
Now Ava not only insisted that she angered Aiden to death, but also hated her for hiding the child from everyone.
He couldn't spend too much time with Ella either, or Ava would cause trouble for her.
"I don't have evidence, but can't you send people to investigate? The day Grandpa died, Scarlett must have been in contact with him."
Ella was getting anxious.
She absolutely couldn't let Joshua leave today.
She had to make Scarlett so angry that she'd come looking for her and reveal her true colors.
"Ella, I've investigated everything I should. There's no evidence proving that Grandpa's death was related to Scarlett."
Joshua patiently explained to Ella, feeling somewhat helpless, "Why can't you realize your own problems? Back then I told you not to tell Grandpa, but for Michael's sake you told Grandpa everything. Now you blame someone else for causing Grandpa's death. I think you're truly stubborn."
Joshua really felt that continuing to talk with Ella would only make him more troubled.
Joshua didn't even want to eat anymore and got up to leave.
Ella looked at him. It seemed that no matter what she said, he wouldn't believe her.
If she said that the person in room 2808 four years ago was actually her, would he not believe that either?
Knowing she couldn't keep Joshua, Ella didn't try anymore. She got up and blocked his way, "Can you hug me? Just consider it our final goodbye."
She needed to get his hair to do another test.
Only test results could be convincing.
Joshua hesitated.
But he didn't refuse. He took the initiative to open his arms and hug Ella.
He was even a bit reluctant to let her go. He lowered his head close to her ear and said softly, "Although you and I are no longer husband and wife, we at least had some good times. If you have any difficulties in the future, you can come to me anytime."
Ella no longer had any emotional attachment to Joshua.
If it weren't for getting his hair, she wouldn't even want to be in contact with him.
She raised her hand and pulled out several strands of hair from his head, then coldly pushed him away, "If you really want to marry Scarlett, then go! Even if I have difficulties, I won't trouble you."
Ella's actions still made Joshua feel uncomfortable. He touched his head and asked her, "Why are you pulling my hair?"
This Ella's attitude changed so fast.
One moment she hoped he would stay, and when he refused, she immediately turned hostile and pulled his hair.
This was being too petty.
"You're blind, insisting on marrying the murderer who killed Grandpa. What's wrong with me pulling your hair?"
Ella didn't give Joshua a pleasant look. "Get lost. If you really marry Scarlett, you'll regret it."
Too lazy to bother with him anymore, Ella sat back at the table to eat her meal.
Joshua wanted to explain a few more things to her, but then his phone rang.
It was Ava calling.
He casually said a few perfunctory words, didn't stay any longer, and turned to leave.
At this time, in a certain apartment.
Learning that Scarlett and Joshua's wedding date had been set, less than a month away.
Mason couldn't suppress the pain in his heart. After bringing Scarlett back from the hospital, he pressed her against the wall and kissed her as if he'd lost his mind.
Scarlett struggled but found it useless, so she gave up struggling.
After the two fucked, they embraced each other without a stitch of clothing. The parts not covered by the blanket were full of kiss marks.
Scarlett nestled in Mason's arms, coaxing him, "I'm not really going to marry Joshua. There's still a month, right? If during this month you help me get rid of Ella, then I'll break off the engagement and be with you, okay?"
Scarlett knew that she and Mason had no future.
The Rhea couple looked down on her.
Relying on Mason was unreliable.
Only by marrying Joshua could she make the Rhea couple respect her.
As for Mason, he didn't have the courage to reveal their relationship.
"Ella doesn't threaten you now anyway, so why must you push her to the brink?"
Mason wasn't stupid. How could he let himself fall into trouble?
No matter how much he loved Scarlett in his arms, doing anything for her still needed careful consideration.
Scarlett coquettishly pushed him away, "Even if Ella doesn't threaten me, she hurt me twice. I almost died at her hands both times. If you love me, why won't you avenge me?"
Ella was already suspecting that Dorian was Joshua's child.
If she hadn't bribed the doctor to tamper with the samples Ella sent for testing, once Ella found out Dorian was Joshua's child, she would definitely return to Joshua's side.
Anyway, if Ella wasn't eliminated, she couldn't rest easy.
"Didn't I make her kowtow to you before? Besides, because of that, I was sent to the police station by Joshua."
Mason made excuses to refuse. "You're going to be with me eventually anyway, so why bother about Ella's existence."
Seeing he wouldn't go along with her, Scarlett angrily got out of bed, "If you're not willing to do what I say, then let's not do this anymore. You won't even avenge me, so how can you say you like me?"
