Chapter 94 Making an Enemy of the Harrison Group
Zoe was terrified. She rushed forward, throwing herself in front of Karen, desperately trying to defend her.
"No! Nicholas! It wasn't Mom who did it!"
"They forced a confession! Julie was held captive by them for half a month! It had to be coerced!"
"Please don't believe them! Don't let them take Mom away!"
Nicholas's chest heaved violently, his eyes harboring a terrifying storm.
"No matter who it was, anyone who dares harm my people must pay the price!"
He roughly shoved Zoe aside, his fury erupting like wildfire.
This justice—he would claim it for Emma himself!
Seeing Nicholas's genuine rage, Karen was scared out of her wits. Abandoning all pretense of dignity, she shrieked desperately.
"It wasn't me! Mr. Harrison! They're framing me!"
"They're just trying to drive a wedge between you and Zoe! It's this Emma—she's jealous! She doesn't want you to marry our Zoe, so she's deliberately trying to destroy the Perez family!"
Zoe lunged forward again, grabbing Nicholas's sleeve, her eyes brimming with tears as she pleaded.
"Nicholas, this definitely wasn't Mom's doing. Please believe her, okay?"
She turned toward Emma, putting on a pitiful, wounded expression.
"Emma, do you really have to be so heartless? The Perez family raised you for four years—are you really going to bite the hand that fed you?"
"If... if it's about Nicholas, I can step aside... I'll give him up to you. Just please don't take my mother away, okay?"
With that, she wiped away her tears, crying like a broken-hearted beauty.
Emma let out a cold laugh, watching Zoe's performance with nothing but disgust.
"Save your crocodile tears—they don't work on me. Take her away!"
She was done wasting words and gave the order directly.
The bodyguards hesitated no longer, forcibly dragging Karen again.
Karen's screams and curses became even more piercing.
Just then, Nicholas's phone buzzed.
He frowned, pulling out his device and glancing at the screen.
A message with a video attachment and a photo.
He opened the video and watched for just a few seconds.
His entire face drained of color instantly, turning ashen.
His grip on the phone tightened until his knuckles went white, veins bulging on the back of his hand.
The air seemed to freeze.
"Wait!"
He looked up sharply, his voice hoarse, carrying an indescribable shock and urgency.
"Karen—you can't take her!"
The words fell like a bombshell, stunning everyone present.
The tide had turned without warning.
Matthew, who had been standing aside like an outsider, coldly observing the drama, finally stepped forward.
Tall and imposing with a powerful presence, his icy gaze fixed on Nicholas's face.
"Mr. Harrison, are you protecting Karen?"
Without giving Nicholas a chance to explain, he ordered his bodyguards directly.
"Take her away. Straight to the police station. Bring Julie along as well."
The bodyguards received their orders and immediately moved to escort Karen to the car.
"I'd like to see who dares touch her!"
Nicholas suddenly roared, his voice thundering across the grounds with unquestionable authority.
He stepped forward, blocking Karen's path.
Behind him, Charlie's eyes nearly popped out of his head.
That was the culprit who had hurt Emma, who had caused Emma's miscarriage!
How could he... how could he suddenly switch sides to protect that Karen?
This was madness! Complete madness!
Emma could hardly believe her eyes.
She stared at Nicholas intently. He had just changed his mind at the last minute, preventing her from punishing Karen—what was he playing at?
Where was all that murderous rage, that determination to seek vengeance for her?
How had it simply vanished?
She walked toward him step by step, stopping directly in front of him, her voice ice-cold and trembling with barely suppressed emotion.
"Nicholas, you... you're going to stop me? You're going to prevent me from punishing this murderer?"
"This murderer who killed our child?"
Nicholas met her hate-filled gaze.
His eyes swirled with suppressed emotions and fury, mixing together, more painful than a knife cutting through his heart.
God knew how much he wanted to personally destroy Karen, to give her—and their child who never got to see the world—the justice they deserved!
But not now.
He had more important things to do, more important people to protect!
His fists clenched so tightly they might burst, veins bulging on the backs of his hands.
He forcibly suppressed the turmoil in his chest, his voice cold as ice.
"Emma, I know you hate her. But leave this matter to me—I promise I'll get you the justice you deserve."
"She cannot be taken to the police station right now!"
SLAP!
A crisp, resounding slap struck Nicholas across the face.
Emma's hand was trembling, her eyes red and frightening.
"Nicholas! Do you know what you're saying?"
"This woman! She's the murderer who killed your child! And you're still defending her—have you lost your mind?"
She was practically screaming hysterically, like a wild beast pushed beyond its limits.
A clear handprint appeared on Nicholas's face, but his expression remained cold and hard.
"Emma, please... leave her to me, okay?"
Emma had completely lost her rationality.
"I'm taking her today! Let's see how you stop me!"
She waved her hand sharply.
Six black-suited bodyguards immediately surrounded them, targeting Karen who was collapsed on the ground.
Nicholas's expression darkened instantly.
"Charlie!" he called out. "Bring reinforcements!"
"Today, anyone who dares take Karen away is making an enemy of the Harrison Group!"
Making an enemy of the Harrison Group.
Hearing those words, Emma felt as if all the strength had been drained from her body.
Using the entire power of the Harrison Group just to protect the murderer who had hurt her for three years and killed her child?
This was Nicholas!
Her body swayed, and she couldn't help but step back twice, her face pale as paper.
Something in her chest felt like it had truly shattered.
"Nicholas, what did you promise me? Have you forgotten?"
He had promised her that if she and Zoe ever had another conflict, he would definitely stand by her side.
But reality was once again slapping her in the face!
Nicholas was speechless, his heart aching with a searing pain.
Matthew quickly stepped forward, supporting her swaying form.
"Emma, don't be upset."
His voice was gentle, yet carried an almost imperceptible provocation.
"Perhaps Mr. Harrison has his own reasons for doing this? Karen is Miss Perez's mother, after all—he probably just doesn't want to see Miss Perez suffer."
These words were fuel to the fire, putting Nicholas squarely on the hot seat.
Emma took a deep breath, forcing herself to stand steady, and looked up at Nicholas again.
"Nicholas, do you care about her that much?"
"For her mother's sake, you'd rather let our child's murderer go free?"
Nicholas looked into those shattered, frozen eyes of hers, his heart feeling like it was being squeezed by an invisible hand, the pain excruciating.
But he still steeled himself to respond, each word cutting like a blade.
Finally, he spoke with cold indifference.
"That embryo was only a little over a month old. It can hardly be called a child."
"Today, no one is taking her anywhere!"
