Chapter 93 Truth Exposed, Settling Scores
Evelyn turned around, her heart skipping a beat.
There he was—Fighter 17, the man who had kept her awake at night, standing before her without warning.
He still wore that half-mask of silver metal, concealing half his face, revealing only his sharp jawline and tightly pressed, thin lips, radiating an aura of complete mystery.
At this moment, his torso was bare, sweat trickling down his perfectly sculpted chest and disappearing into his taut abs.
Those muscles—flowing lines of pure perfection, full of explosive power, yet not intimidatingly overdeveloped like other fighters. Every inch was precisely where it should be, absolutely breathtaking.
Evelyn felt her mouth go dry, unable to resist reaching out with her pinky finger, wanting to trace that skin gleaming with healthy vitality.
But the man stepped back just before her fingertip could make contact, perfectly avoiding her touch.
His gaze was ice-cold, maintaining that thousand-mile distance.
Evelyn wasn't bothered; instead, she smiled, her eyes crinkling playfully. "Come on, don't be so cold. I came here specifically to find you."
She paused, her voice taking on a seductive quality. "Next month, I'm going to Luminous City. I want to hire you as my bodyguard."
Fighter 17 wore his mask, making it impossible to read his full expression, but Evelyn caught a flicker of something in his eyes.
Luminous City.
That was a place of nine-deaths-one-survival, a point of no return.
What would a wealthy heiress want in such a dangerous place?
"No." He rejected her coldly, his voice carrying no emotion whatsoever, clean and decisive.
"Hey, don't be so quick to refuse." Evelyn's smile grew sweeter. "I'll pay five million dollars. When you change your mind, just call me."
She pulled a pre-folded heart-shaped tissue from her purse, with a phone number clearly written on it.
Standing on her tiptoes, she gently placed it in his half-open locker.
Just then, a staff member in gym uniform hurried over, his tone reasonably polite.
"Miss, this is a restricted backstage area. Guests aren't allowed here. Please leave."
Evelyn didn't look at the staff member, her gaze still fixed on Fighter 17.
She suddenly turned to the staff member. "You can deliver gifts for customers, right?"
The staff member was confused but nodded anyway. "Uh? Oh, yes."
Evelyn smiled with satisfaction, then suddenly spun around, moving close to the young staff member.
Before the young man could react, a kiss carrying a rich fragrance landed unexpectedly on his lips.
A bright red lipstick mark was brazenly stamped on the young man's mouth.
"Please deliver this kiss to Fighter 17 for me." Evelyn's voice was sultry, but her eyes carried an undeniable dominance. "If you don't deliver it, I'll tear down your gym."
The staff member froze completely, mouth agape, staring at Evelyn in disbelief, then at Fighter 17, who was radiating a terrifying low pressure. He felt all his hair standing on end, a chill running down his spine.
"Damn!"
Fighter 17 cursed under his breath, his voice suppressing some emotion.
His gaze, beyond his control, followed that arrogant figure swaying her hips as she sauntered away.
Deep in his heart, an indescribable restlessness rippled like stones thrown into a lake, completely irresistible.
This woman was absolutely infuriating!
...
The two women finished watching the fight and eating dinner, returning home near midnight.
While changing clothes, Evelyn said, "I think this Zoe is really problematic. How about we check out her party tomorrow night?"
Emma gave her a look. "Not interested!"
Everything between him and Zoe was of no concern to her!
Evelyn suddenly grabbed her phone impulsively and sent a text. "Then I'll find some backup. Just thinking about seeing some R-rated action gets me excited!"
The next day, Nicholas was on his way to the office when he received Zoe's tearful scream.
"Nicholas! Come to the Perez Villa quickly! Emma's trying to kill someone! She brought so many people!"
Nicholas's heart clenched violently.
"Turn around! Go to the Perez Villa!" he commanded the driver sharply, his voice carrying barely concealed tension.
Outside the Perez Villa, the atmosphere was murderous.
Three black luxury cars blocked the entrance, with a Maybach leading—its license plate screaming arrogance, clearly Matthew's handiwork.
Six bodyguards in black suits and sunglasses formed a fan shape, surrounding the estate completely. The formation would make anyone's heart race with anxiety.
Nicholas's car had barely stopped when he saw two bodyguards dragging Karen outside.
Karen's hair was disheveled, nothing like her usual socialite appearance. She struggled desperately, legs flailing, releasing panicked screams.
"Let me go! Let me go!"
"My future son-in-law is Nicholas! Nicholas from the Harrison Group! If you dare touch me, he won't spare you!"
Zoe rushed out, her eyes red-rimmed. Seeing Emma in the distance, she immediately screamed at her.
"Emma, what do you think you're doing! Why are you having my mother arrested!"
"Who gave you permission to cause trouble here?"
Karen, being dragged away, also spotted Emma and erupted like finding an outlet for her rage.
"You bastard! How dare you lay hands on me? I'm your foster mother! I raised you for four whole years! Four years!"
"How can you treat me like this! You damned bitch!"
Emma stood on the steps, looking down at this drama with a smile that was cold to the bone.
She crossed her arms, her eyes devoid of any warmth.
"Four years?" She let out a soft laugh filled with endless mockery.
She could never forget those four years of supposed kindness, much less forget that this woman had personally tied her up, ordered her nailed into a crate, and thrown into the river.
"Enjoy your time in prison. Don't worry, I'll make sure someone takes good care of you—consider it repayment for those four years of kindness."
Karen trembled with rage, cursing even more viciously.
"You bitch! I wasted my time raising you! I should have let you freeze to death in Majestic City! I never should have shown mercy and brought you home! How can you be so heartless! So cruel!"
"What's going on?" A deep, commanding voice interrupted.
Nicholas approached slowly, his sharp gaze sweeping the scene.
Zoe spotted her savior and scrambled toward him, grabbing his arm.
"Nicholas! Thank God you're here!"
Her eyes red, she pointed at Emma. "It's Emma! She and that Matthew are trying to take Mom away! They want to send her to prison!
Please save Mom! Please, Nicholas!"
Emma watched Zoe's performance coldly. Right now, Nicholas was indeed her only lifeline.
Nicholas brushed off Zoe's hand and walked to Emma, his tone relatively calm.
"What's happening? Why are you having her arrested?"
Emma raised her eyes to meet his gaze, her expression resolute, speaking each word clearly.
"Nicholas, listen carefully. Julie has confessed everything and agreed to turn herself in."
"The mastermind behind it all was Karen."
"She's the one! She made me take birth control pills for three whole years! She caused me to lose that baby!"
"She's the real culprit!"
By the end, she was almost shouting, her eyes bloodshot, filled with towering hatred.
Nicholas's body shook violently.
Birth control pills? Lost baby? Karen?
So the one who had caused Emma all that suffering was this woman!
An uncontrollable rage surged from his chest straight to his head.
He whipped around, staring daggers at Karen being held by the bodyguards, his eyes so cold they were terrifying, his voice grinding out between clenched teeth.
"You did this?"
That look could have torn Karen apart on the spot.
