Chapter 87
Nora looked at James in terror, her voice trembling. "Don't... don't touch Jasper."
"Nora, I told you, if you don't behave, I'll make the people around you pay for it." James trapped Nora in his arms, gripping her chin hard. "This time, watch carefully."
"James... you bastard..." Nora spoke with a trembling voice. "You can't touch Jasper. Michael... Michael said he'd look after me."
Nora's voice was shaking. She thought bringing up Michael might make James think twice.
But it only made James furious.
"You're really shameless." James dragged Nora into a small room nearby. "Did you sleep with Michael?"
Nora bit her lip, looking at James with hatred. "You have no right, no right to ask me that."
"I have no right? Nora, how low can you go." James laughed mockingly, roughly tearing at Nora's clothes. "I really regret not touching you back then."
Nora's whole body was shaking. The places James touched burned with pain.
"Aren't you disgusted?" Nora cried out.
"Yes, it's disgusting." James bit Nora's neck vengefully. "But if Michael doesn't care, why should I?"
Michael wanted to humiliate him through Nora? Dream on.
"James, do I have to die before you'll let me go?" Nora slowly knelt on the ground, her trembling fingers clutching James's clothes. "Spare Jasper, please."
"I won't spare Jasper. For what he did to Evelyn, dying ten thousand times and cutting off both his hands wouldn't be enough!" James grabbed Nora's chin, forcing her to look outside. "Cut off his hand."
A bodyguard pulled out a knife. "Sorry about this."
"No!" Nora cried and struggled, rushing out of the yard, pushing away the person about to act.
"James! The one who wronged you is me, I'll pay you back." Nora picked up the knife from the ground and without any hesitation slashed her own wrist. "Not enough, not enough, right?"
Nora kept cutting at her wrist, dark red blood gushing out, shocking to see.
"Bastard, I'll kill you!" Jasper shouted hysterically, frantically breaking free from his restraints, beating the people holding him nearly to death.
Nora backed away with a pale face, continuing to cut wounds on her wrist as she retreated.
James stood frozen in place, watching Nora go crazy, his heart feeling like it was about to split open.
What exactly did he want Nora to do?
"Mr. Smith, that woman's crazy, she's lost it, she's going to die, right?" A bodyguard was scared, asking with a trembling voice.
They didn't want anyone to die.
Jasper fought viciously, the others couldn't hold him back. After knocking out the bodyguards restraining him, Jasper stumbled up and ran toward Nora, forcefully gripping the knife in her hand.
"Give me the knife." Jasper's eyes were red, his hand holding the blade trembling.
Nora looked at Jasper with empty eyes. Seeing Jasper's blood dripping down the blade, she let go in terror.
Her vision went black, and Nora collapsed weakly into Jasper's arms. "Jasper, I'm so tired."
Jasper's throat burned, his Adam's apple moving, but he couldn't say any comforting words.
Unless he killed these people, he didn't know what other way he could protect Nora and Samuel.
"To the hospital." Jasper forced himself to stop trembling, wrapping Nora's wrist tightly with his clothes. "I'll take you to the hospital."
"Samuel." She looked toward the door, hearing Samuel's hoarse crying, slowly raising her hand. "Jasper, take care of Samuel."
She was so tired, really so tired.
Just let her be free.
If she died, these people would have no reason to keep torturing them.
"Stop pretending to be dying." James's voice was clearly trembling, yet he still spoke coldly. "Take her to the hospital."
"Get lost!" Jasper looked at James with red-rimmed eyes.
He was afraid he couldn't control himself from killing him.
James clenched his fists. "I'll take her to the hospital!"
"Get lost." Jasper picked up Nora, wanting to go to the hospital.
Outside, hearing that James had returned, Michael rushed over by car, only to see Jasper holding Nora covered in blood.
Walter had also come. He was worried, so he had Royce find out where Jasper lived and wanted to come check.
"Hospital, I'll take her to the hospital." Michael wanted to take Nora to the hospital.
Seeing Nora covered in blood again, Michael felt his emotions getting out of control.
He had always been someone not swayed by emotions, but in that moment, he actually wanted to kill James.
"We don't need your concern." Walter also rushed forward in panic, wanting to take Nora.
Jasper avoided Walter and handed Nora to Michael. "Mr. Smith, please."
Nora had said Michael was different from the others.
As for Walter, he didn't deserve it.
In Jasper's view, if Walter was the one who forced Nora six years ago, he would never deserve her.
Michael carried Nora to the car, his eyes looking deeply at James.
James's hands were clenched so tight his knuckles turned white. Why should he just watch Michael carry Nora away!
But right now, he didn't dare defy Michael.
Walter irritably pulled at his tie, turning to look at James. "Do you want to die?"
Walter kicked James, losing control as he punched James in the face again and again.
James looked at Walter with a cold laugh. "Mr. Wood, don't tell me you've really fallen for a slut. How I treat her has nothing to do with you. Your fiancée is still at the police station."
Walter's raised fist froze for a moment, the darkness in his eyes growing deeper. "James, you want to die?"
With that, Walter threw another punch.
James's bodyguards wanted to stop him, but Royce held out his hand to block them. "If our Mr. Wood gets hurt, you'd better think carefully."
Jasper ignored the disputes among these rich people. He wrapped his hand with his clothes and stumbled to the door, letting Samuel out and hugging him tightly. "Samuel, don't cry anymore, don't cry."
Samuel had cried himself hoarse, crying out for Nora.
Walter heard Samuel's crying and stopped, getting up and kicking James in the stomach before walking toward Samuel.
After all, James was from the Smith family. He didn't go for the kill, just knocked him out.
The bodyguards took James away, leaving only Walter, Royce, Jasper, and Samuel in the yard.
"Samuel." Walter's voice was a bit hoarse. He wiped the blood from his face and knelt down in front of Samuel. "Daddy came too late."
Samuel cried weakly, holding onto Jasper tightly. "You always come late. I don't like you."
Walter rubbed his forehead and took a deep breath. "Daddy was wrong. Will Daddy take you to the hospital to find Mommy?"
Samuel glanced at Jasper. He wanted to go find Nora.
Jasper looked back at Walter, his voice low. "You don't deserve it."
Walter didn't deserve to be Samuel's father.
But Jasper didn't stop Samuel.
Royce stood there, wanting to speak but holding back.
This was Walter's own choice. If he insisted on using Samuel to trap Nora, then bearing everyone's misunderstanding was what he deserved.
