Chapter 86
Jasper sat in the locker room for ages, scratching his hair in frustration.
Those bastards!
With a gloomy face, Jasper walked out of the locker room and glanced at Clea sitting in the courtyard. After hesitating for a long time, he decided to forget it.
"Jasper."
But Clea called out to Jasper on her own.
Jasper pretended not to hear and tried to walk away.
"Jasper, the boss is calling you." Of course, some clueless person had to remind Jasper.
Jasper took a deep breath and turned to walk over to Clea. "Boss, you called me."
"Work overtime tonight, thirty thousand dollars overtime pay, how about it?" Clea clearly wanted to keep messing with Jasper, determined not to let him sleep.
Jasper had already been standing all last night.
The other bodyguards could tell Clea had been targeting Jasper and felt bad for him. "Boss, Jasper hasn't had a break for three days straight, if this continues..."
What's the point of making money if you work yourself to death?
What was Clea trying to do?
How had Jasper offended Clea?
"Fine, I'll work overtime." Jasper's voice was calm, without any emotion. "I don't want the money. Just do me a favor."
Clea looked at Jasper with interest. He was actually asking her for something?
"Don't want the money? Go ahead." Clea was very interested.
"My nephew needs to go to school, but no school will take him." Jasper kept his head down, clenching his fists.
He wasn't good at asking people for favors. If he wasn't desperate, he wouldn't have spoken up.
Clea obviously noticed this about Jasper. "Is your nephew undocumented?"
Jasper shook his head. "No, it's because he offended the young lady from the Smith family."
"The Smith family?" Clea's fingers tapped lightly on the table. "That illegitimate daughter brought in by the Smith family's mistress? The one called Veda?"
Clea looked disdainful, clearly looking down on Veda.
Jasper looked confused. He didn't know about these wealthy family scandals.
"Messing with my people? She's got some nerve." Clea sat up straight and stretched lazily and gracefully. "I can help you, but spend tonight with me."
The other bodyguards quickly left, having heard nothing.
Jasper's face darkened. "No need, I'm off work."
With that, Jasper turned and walked away.
"Jasper!" Clea slammed the table in anger.
Jasper just pretended not to hear. Worst case, Clea would fire him.
Seeing Jasper really walk away without looking back, Clea's face went pale with anger. That bastard.
"Find out about the best kindergarten in Emerald City and say it's for my nephew. Let's see who dares to block it." Clea's slender fingers picked up a cigarette from the side and had the butler light it for her.
The butler nodded. "Yes, Mrs. Williams."
"Call me Ms. Williams." Clea frowned.
The butler quickly nodded. "Yes, Ms. Williams."
The auto repair shop.
"You guys need to move out now. Are you paying rent or not? If not, get out."
The landlord had come to kick them out again.
"There's still a month left on the lease. We haven't decided yet." Nora was a bit scared and spoke softly.
"A month? You're supposed to pay rent three months in advance. Don't you know that!" The landlord was very rude, clearly trying to drive Nora and them away.
Nora kept her head down and hesitated for a long time before speaking. "We won't renew the lease."
"Not renewing?" The landlord's voice was shrill. "Then why are you still hanging around here? Get your stuff and get out!"
Then he tried to go into the room to throw out Nora's things.
"We still have a month." Nora backed away, protecting Samuel.
"A month? You need to move out three months early."
Nora's eyes reddened. She wanted to resist but felt powerless.
This was definitely someone from the Adams family or the Smith family who had gotten to the landlord to make things difficult for her.
So even if she argued her case, it would be useless.
"Nora, Jasper's been renting from me for five or six years now. We're old customers. How much do you charge per night?" The boss smoked his cigarette, squinting his eyes and looking at Nora with a smile.
Nora's face went pale, her fingers digging into her palm. "What are you talking about?"
"Stop pretending. You think I don't know? Ask around this area, who doesn't know you're out there selling yourself? I'm running a business here. How about you pay the rent with your services?" The landlord smiled and moved closer to Nora, reaching out to grope her.
The boss let out a scream as Samuel hit his foot with a pair of pliers.
"You little bastard." The boss tried to hit Samuel.
Nora pushed the boss away hard, grabbed Samuel, and ran outside.
"Stop pretending to be innocent." The landlord grabbed Nora by the hair and threw her to the ground.
"Mom." Samuel hugged Nora in fear.
"What are you doing!" Luckily Jasper came back in time and rushed up to kick the landlord out.
The landlord knew about Jasper's ruthless streak. Seeing him return, he got scared, pulled up his pants, and ran.
"Jasper." Nora cowered in the corner in panic, her voice trembling. "Let's go, let's not stay here anymore."
Jasper quickly picked up Samuel and went to comfort Nora. "Okay, I'll find a place tomorrow."
Nora looked up at Jasper, tears flowing uncontrollably.
Why did they have to go through all this?
All this hostility from everyone...
"Nora."
Seeing something was wrong with Nora, Jasper put down Samuel, his voice panicked. "Go get the medicine."
Samuel quickly rushed into the room to get the medicine.
"Nora, take deep breaths." Jasper patted Nora's back in panic. "Listen to me, deep breaths."
Nora tried hard to take deep breaths, her heart hurting so much her lips turned white.
"It's okay, it's okay." Samuel brought the medicine, and Jasper gave it to Nora.
It took Nora a long time to recover before she curled up her legs and started crying.
She didn't know what she was feeling wronged about.
This was the life she was supposed to live, after all.
"Nora!"
Outside the gate, it was James's voice.
Having just recovered, Nora heard James's voice and hid in the corner in fear. "Jasper."
James had found them.
Jasper had nowhere to vent his anger. These bastards.
He pushed Samuel into the room and locked the door, then picked up an iron rod from the ground and looked at James walking in through the entrance. "What do you want now!"
James's gaze fell on Nora in the corner, his voice low. "Get out here."
Nora hugged herself tightly, not daring to come out.
"James! Don't go too far." Jasper protected Nora.
Inside the room, Samuel was crying and banging on the door.
He was scared.
He was scared this bad man would hurt Nora.
"So what if I bully you?" James sneered, having his bodyguards hold back Jasper as he approached Nora step by step.
Jasper punched a bodyguard in the face. The three of them were no match for him.
"James, you bastard." Jasper grabbed James by the collar and punched him hard in the face.
James punched Jasper back, but he was definitely no match for Jasper in a fight.
"Are you all dead!"
James cursed.
All the bodyguards rushed forward and pinned Jasper to the ground.
Wiping the blood from his mouth, James cursed in pain, got up, walked to Nora, grabbed her by the hair, and dragged her outside. "I heard Michael helped solve the little bastard's school problem?"
"Bastard, let go of Nora!" Jasper struggled hard.
James looked at Jasper with dark eyes. "Last time I wanted to cripple your hand, but you were lucky enough to recover. This time I'll just chop it off. Think it can be reattached?"
