Chapter 209
"Wasn't this your doing?" Jasper sneered, "I've already called the police. They'll be here any minute. You'll need to be investigated, and if my boss decides to press charges, you'll face criminal charges."
"Jasper! I'm your mother!" Opal stared at Jasper in shock.
Jasper was silent for a long time before speaking again, "Will the police let you escape legal punishment just because you're my mother?"
Opal was left speechless by Jasper's words.
"Right now, you shouldn't be yelling about being my mother. You should be reflecting on why you just got out of prison and already want to go back."
Shortly after Jasper finished speaking, the nearby police arrived.
"She's causing trouble here and hit someone. We have it on surveillance," the company security quickly explained.
The police took Opal away, and the other relatives had long since disappeared.
The company finally quieted down.
Clea stood there watching Jasper, feeling inexplicably sorry for him.
Jasper said nothing. He took Clea's hand and walked out of the company, went to a roadside convenience store to buy an ice cream, wrapped it in a tissue, and placed it on her face as a cold compress.
The whole time, he didn't say a word.
But Clea felt strangely anxious.
Jasper was suddenly being too proactive with her, even helping her ice her face.
Clea didn't know what to say.
"This is what my family is like. You've seen it now. We're bottom-feeders, like leeches in the sewer—disgusting and bloodsucking," Jasper said sarcastically.
Clea's heart jumped, not knowing what to say.
"I'm sorry... my mom hurt you. Name your price for compensation, and I'll find a way to pay you as soon as possible." Jasper was asking for some time.
"Jasper, I just wanted to help you, to stop your mom from causing more trouble." Clea panicked a bit, afraid she'd hurt Jasper's pride.
"I know, but you got hurt, so I should compensate you. I can stay by your side for a year without pay. I'll do whatever you want." Jasper's voice was gentle, not cold like usual.
Maybe it was because Clea stood in front of him and took that slap for him that moved him?
Clea's eyes lit up, "Whatever I want?"
This "whatever you want" from Jasper made Clea thrilled.
Because Jasper knew very well what Clea wanted to do.
Clea never hid it—she'd openly said in front of her family's bodyguards and butler that she wanted to be with him.
It's just that Jasper felt the games rich people played were too insulting to his dignity.
But if it was Clea, even if it was just a whim, it didn't matter.
After a long silence, Jasper nodded, "Yes."
"Why did you suddenly come around? Were you moved by me?" Clea excitedly hugged Jasper's arm and snuggled into his embrace. That slap was totally worth it.
"Let me leave after a year." Jasper spoke again.
Clea's hand holding Jasper instantly froze, and she suddenly let go.
She knew it—Jasper had another condition.
She suddenly felt angry, but Clea didn't know why she was angry, "Do you really dislike me that much?"
Jasper said nothing.
"Or is it because you still have feelings for your ex-girlfriend? Your first love?" Clea questioned Jasper.
Jasper still said nothing.
"You really think I like you? Get lost." Clea turned and walked away.
Jasper followed behind her, keeping a distance but watching over her.
Clea got in her car in a huff and hit the gas.
"Clea!" Jasper frowned, worried, and hailed a cab to follow her.
When they first met, Jasper thought Clea was willful—the kind of spoiled willfulness of rich kids, reckless when throwing a tantrum.
Now, watching Clea drive recklessly in anger, Jasper felt strangely sorry for her.
She was the Williams family's precious daughter, but she didn't have a single true friend, not one family member who truly loved her, not even someone she could trust.
Clea had a kind heart despite her sharp tongue, but she was definitely a good woman.
"Follow that car, please." Jasper was a bit panicked and regretful.
He thought he understood Clea well enough—why did he still provoke her?
After a year, or when she got tired of him, she'd leave on her own.
Jasper knew that with Clea's personality, she was stubborn—you had to go along with her.
"Is that your friend? That's some crazy driving—could easily cause an accident." The taxi driver thought his driving skills were pretty good, but he almost couldn't keep up.
"Go faster."
Jasper was getting anxious.
Suddenly, there was a car accident ahead, causing traffic congestion.
Clea didn't brake in time and crashed into the rear of the car in front.
The car behind couldn't brake in time either and crashed into the rear of Clea's car.
A chain reaction—five cars crashed.
Jasper's heart jumped to his throat. After the driver stopped, he frantically opened the door and rushed out, his heart nearly jumping out of his chest.
"Clea."
"Clea!"
Jasper felt like he was going crazy, really crazy.
He didn't dare think about what state he'd be in if something happened to Clea.
"Are you worried about me?" Clea was stuck in the driver's seat. Her head was cut and bleeding a little, but it didn't look too serious since the airbag hadn't even deployed.
Jasper's voice was shaking. He yanked the car door open, pulled her out, and held her tight.
Clea's eyes reddened, and she asked him again, "Are you worried about me because I'm your boss, or because I'm just Clea?"
Jasper's arms around Clea slowly loosened, and he said nothing.
Clea didn't ask again, full of anger.
Jasper understood Clea, and Clea understood Jasper just as well.
Push someone too hard and they'll run, so she could only continue with her seduction tactics.
"My head is spinning, it hurts, I feel like throwing up." Clea leaned on Jasper's shoulder, "It hurts so much."
Jasper was at a loss, "I'll take you to the hospital."
"Hold me." Clea clung tightly to Jasper's neck.
Jasper's hands stiffened.
"You said you'd do anything for a year, but you won't even hold me. What about sex? Will you do that?" Clea said seductively.
Jasper really wanted to cover Clea's mouth. The traffic police were here, and with so many people at the scene, she really dared to say it.
"Will you?" Clea persisted.
"Shut up." Jasper helplessly covered Clea's mouth, "Let's go to the hospital first and let them handle this."
Clea clung to Jasper, acting cute as he carried her away.
At the police station.
Opal was taken away by the police. Clea didn't press charges, but a family member needed to come bail her out.
Opal was furious. She couldn't get through to Jasper's phone, so she could only contact Nora.
"Ms. Adams, your mother is at the police station. Would it be convenient..."
"I don't have a mother." Nora cut off the officer's words.
The officer paused and looked back at Opal, "Sorry, wrong number."
After hanging up, the officer looked at Opal, "Wrong number."
Opal was shocked, "Impossible! That's the right number. That little bitch said it was the wrong number?"
