Chapter 190
Juliet stood at the edge, feeling the sea breeze.
Over twenty years had passed. Where on earth was her daughter?
All these years, she had truly put in so much effort to find her daughter.
And encountered so many scammers.
Hope ignited again and again, only to be extinguished.
"Mom!"
Daryl rushed over and nervously pulled Juliet aside, "What are you doing standing there? It's dangerous."
Juliet glanced at Daryl and smiled, "Are you afraid I'll jump?"
She was already in her fifties. Her naturally aging face didn't look out of place; instead, it made her seem gentle and tender.
She looked exactly as someone her age should.
"No." Daryl made excuses, afraid of upsetting Juliet.
"Mom, don't do anything foolish. We're here to attend someone's wedding." Zander breathed a sigh of relief.
"I won't do anything foolish. Your sister hasn't been found yet." Juliet said with regret.
"We'll find her, we definitely will." Atticus comforted Juliet.
"Okay, okay, Milo." Juliet nodded with a smile, then turned to see Nora walking over carrying Milo.
The words caught in her throat. Juliet stared at Nora in a daze.
"How old are you?" Juliet walked over and grabbed Nora's arm in panic.
"What's your name? Are your parents alive?" Juliet asked nervously, "You look like my long-lost daughter."
Nora was confused and looked at Michael in fear.
What was going on with the Fields family?
The kid randomly claimed a mom, and now the adults were planning to randomly claim a daughter?
"Mrs. Fields, I'm Michael, from the Smith family. You've met me." Michael smiled at Juliet, "This is my partner, Nora."
"Mom, you're confused again, asking people just because you like the look of them." Daryl sighed.
Atticus also snapped out of it and rushed forward to take Milo, "Sorry, really sorry. This is my son. Thank you so much. I'm Atticus. We're really grateful today. If it weren't for you, something might have happened to Milo."
Atticus had a somewhat impulsive personality and tried to take Milo.
But Milo ignored Atticus, crying and clinging tightly to Nora, "Mommy, I want Mommy."
Atticus froze, "Sorry, I've never seen Milo act like this before."
Then she started coaxing, "Milo, go home with Daddy. Mrs. Smith is too tired from holding you."
Milo ignored Atticus, holding onto Nora tightly, "I want to stay with Mommy."
Besides Milo clinging to Nora with longing eyes, Juliet was also staring at Nora with the same look, wishing she could instantly turn her into her daughter.
Nora was a bit panicked and looked at Michael for help.
"This isn't your mommy." Michael reached out to pick up Milo.
Milo was quite strong, holding onto Nora tightly and crying loudly.
Nora couldn't bear to hear Milo cry like this and quickly held him to comfort him, "Be good, don't cry, don't cry."
Atticus was stunned.
Milo had been left at their doorstep by some unknown ex-girlfriend or one-night stand. Since they took Milo home and raised him, he had been spoiled by the Fields family.
Milo, who never wanted to interact with strangers, was now clinging to Nora and refusing to let go.
"Milo, listen to me and get down." Daryl scolded sternly.
Milo didn't give Daryl any face, "No, I want Mommy."
Daryl had no authority in front of Milo.
"Milo, let me hold you, okay?" Zander coaxed with a smile.
"No." Milo refused him too.
"Such a nice girl. Milo likes her, and I like her too." Juliet looked at Nora longingly, stepped forward and started asking again, "How old are you? Are you married? Look, I have three sons. Which one do you like? Come marry into our family."
Michael was completely ignored.
Daryl snorted but surprisingly didn't object.
Obviously he already had a good impression of Nora, but was too proud to know how to thank her.
Zander started tattling, "Mom, Daryl was mean to Nora before, very rude to her. If you're choosing, choose me. I'm single and well-behaved."
Zander considered himself the most perfect person in the Fields family.
"He's not serious about anything." Daryl bluntly exposed Zander.
"Milo likes you so much, it must be special fate. Let's get to know each other!" Atticus excitedly stepped forward like a peacock spreading its feathers.
"He even has an illegitimate child, with a whole lineup of ex-girlfriends." Daryl sarcastically revealed more dirt.
Meanwhile, these people completely failed to notice that Michael's face had darkened terrifyingly.
He knew he should keep Nora on a leash, or sooner or later someone would steal her away.
"Nora, Daryl is mature and steady. You could consider him." Juliet's eyes brightened as she held Nora's hand.
Michael gasped, but angry as he was, looking carefully at Juliet's eyes, he was stunned for a long moment.
Juliet's eyes were very similar to Nora's.
If he didn't know Nora was the Thomas family's daughter, he really would have been suspicious.
"Mom, Daryl has such a bad temper, he'll scare her away." Zander also exposed Daryl's faults.
Daryl snorted and said nothing.
Nora was surrounded by the Fields family, so nervous her palms were sweating.
Seeming to sense Nora's fear, Milo angrily spoke up, "Stay away from my mommy, you'll scare her away."
"She's mine." Michael was already eager to assert his claim.
"Did you get a marriage certificate?" Daryl asked with a cold laugh, clearly unconvinced.
Michael really wanted to slap the marriage certificate in his face.
"Sorry Mrs. Fields, Mr. Smith and I have a stable relationship." Nora quickly interrupted Michael, really afraid he would say they had gotten the certificate.
Never mind that their secret marriage had a confidentiality agreement—if the outside world knew Michael had married a woman like her, it would be crazy.
Michael's current situation absolutely couldn't have any mistakes.
"Mr. Smith, I fell in love with Nora at first sight. Let's compete fairly." Zander's personality was more direct.
"Let's get married right away, marry first and love later. You'll definitely fall in love with me." Atticus was still pursuing.
Michael gritted his teeth and poked Milo, "You, get down."
Milo snorted, "No."
Michael was really angry.
Michael really regretted not bringing Samuel out. He should have brought Samuel to deal with him.
Actually competing with him for mommy.
"Michael, I'm so sorry. Milo wasn't like this before. Maybe like me, he likes Nora too much. Are you here for the wedding too?" Juliet finally noticed Michael.
Michael answered with an unpleasant expression, "Yes."
"Michael is still lucky to have found such a good girlfriend." Juliet reluctantly coaxed Milo herself, "Milo, let Grandma hold you. Let Mommy go change clothes, or she'll get sick."
Only then did Milo let go of Nora, "Mommy, will you come get me after you change clothes?"
Nora's heart tightened. The child was so desperate for a mother.
His eyes looked just like Samuel's.
"Okay." Possessed by some impulse, Nora agreed.
Michael took the opportunity to pick up Milo and toss him into Atticus's arms, then grabbed Nora and ran.
He didn't want to stay a moment longer.
As if running any later, his wife would be stolen away.
"Mr. Smith, the wound on your back..." Nora's eyes reddened, feeling a bit sorry for Michael.
"I need compensation." Michael's lips curved up as he directly picked up Nora and carried her toward the hotel.
Nora nervously curled up against Michael's shoulder. He was doing this on purpose.
Doing it on purpose for the Fields family to see.
"How will I compensate you?" Nora stammered.
"I. Want. To. Fuck. You."
Nora's face turned completely red.
She understood. This "fuck" was a verb.
