Chapter 189
"Do you think all good-looking women remind you of Mom?" Daryl shot Zander a disgusted look.
Zander scoffed, "Daryl, you're acting weird today. You've never been like this before."
Looking back at Nora sitting by the beach, Zander asked quietly, "Do you know that girl?"
"Nora. Haven't you heard of her?" Daryl said coldly.
"Nora?" Zander didn't pay much attention to domestic news and shook his head.
"The fake heiress who was switched with the Adams family's real daughter." Daryl snorted, clearly hostile toward Nora, "She's been to prison for blackmail and extortion."
Zander frowned, "Daryl, you're being biased. Have you even talked to her?"
"Why would I talk to her?" Daryl looked defiant.
"If you haven't talked to her, don't judge her so easily. The switched heiress thing must have happened when she was a baby, right? We still haven't found our sister, and wasn't Tessa switched too? Whose fault is that?" Zander was getting annoyed.
"Tessa likes Michael, you know that." Daryl was angry that Michael would rather be with someone like Nora, who had a bad reputation, than choose Tessa.
"You're such a hypocrite." Zander grabbed a coconut from nearby, "You used to say Michael didn't choose Tessa because she wasn't the Fields family's biological daughter, that she was just raised under the housekeeper's name. But now he'd rather choose Nora, who has no family background at all."
Daryl was getting really annoyed with Zander.
Zander stopped Daryl seriously, "Daryl, I need to talk to you about Tessa. I know you've always treated her like a sister and spoiled her since childhood. She's innocent, but our real sister is even more innocent. What we need to do now is find her as soon as possible, or Mom's condition will keep getting worse."
"You think I'm not looking?" Daryl was getting angry.
"I won't talk about before, but have you seriously looked in the past five years? Every time you're afraid of upsetting Tessa, every time you avoid it." Zander sat down nearby, "If there hadn't been a mix-up back then, our sister should have been the little princess of the family."
Daryl said nothing.
He felt guilty about his sister too.
Their whole family had sworn that once they found their lost sister, they would spoil her rotten.
"Also, even if Michael doesn't like Tessa, you don't need to target Nora. You went too far today." Zander warned Daryl again.
Daryl rolled his eyes at Zander, "Are you into her? She really is something."
"Daryl, you're targeting her so much—are you into her?" Zander teased.
Daryl was left speechless by Zander, "Get lost. You're annoying."
Zander huffed, "Where are Atticus and Milo?"
Daryl was also here looking for Atticus Fields and his precious son Milo.
Of the three Fields brothers, only Atticus was unmarried and had somehow ended up with a son.
The woman who gave birth to his child had dumped the kid and run off. Atticus had searched everywhere but couldn't find her.
"Help! Someone's been swept away by the waves!"
"That's the deep water area!"
"They crossed the warning line—it's a kid!"
Noise erupted from the beach.
People were shouting, some calling for help in other languages.
Nora was sitting on the beach, carefully sipping her coconut juice. When she heard someone calling for help, she got up and ran over.
"It's a kid, looks about five or six, swept away by the waves. Where's the adult?"
"It's a little kid!"
Nora looked out at the ocean and saw a small child being pushed under by the waves, the swim ring already washed away.
"Nora!" Before Michael could react, Nora had rushed in.
Taking a deep breath, Nora jumped into the water. Before the next wave hit, she swam hard toward the child.
The little boy had already swallowed water and had no strength to struggle.
It wasn't too difficult for Nora to rescue him.
"Nora!" A wave came crashing over.
Michael's heart jumped to his throat.
He dove into the water, and when the wave hit, he shielded Nora and the child in his arms.
The wave slammed them against the rocks. Michael's back hit hard, getting cut open.
Nora held the child, looking up at Michael in panic, "Are you okay?"
Michael shook his head, "I'm fine as long as you're okay."
The moment Nora rushed into the water, Michael felt his heart jump to his throat.
Security personnel and other tourists rushed over, everyone applauding.
Nora was really brave—she was the only one who dared to jump in and save someone.
That area of the ocean was very deep.
"What were you thinking?" Michael frowned, pulling Nora tightly into his arms, "I should praise you for being a good Samaritan, but I don't encourage it."
He had been terrified.
"He's just a kid." Nora didn't really know what she'd been thinking—she just felt this little boy was about the same age as Samuel.
"Milo!" By the time Zander and Daryl noticed, Nora had already jumped into the water.
"Is this your kid?" Michael's face looked terrible.
Daryl also had a dark expression, looking at Nora in shock.
In that moment, Daryl's feelings were complicated.
"What kind of parent are you?" Michael finally found a chance to scold Daryl.
The little boy who'd been knocked out by the wave started crying, spitting up seawater, clinging to Nora and refusing to let go, "Mommy."
Security pulled both Michael and Nora up, and medical staff rushed over.
"You're so brave." The medic gave Nora a thumbs up.
Nora looked down a bit embarrassed, looking at Milo in her arms.
"Sorry." Zander pushed Daryl aside and went to take Milo.
But Milo just cried, holding onto Nora tightly and refusing to let go, "Mommy, I want Mommy."
"Milo, you've got the wrong person." Zander said quietly.
Milo cried and hugged Nora tighter, "She is Mommy, she is Mommy."
Michael's face darkened. They came out to have fun and picked up a son?
"Kid, whose child are you?" Michael grabbed the back of Milo's collar, but couldn't pull him off.
Daryl also had a dark expression, looking around for Atticus.
Not watching his own kid—where did he run off to?
Over there, Atticus heard the commotion and ran over, "Daryl, have you seen Milo?"
Daryl punched Atticus, "Where were you! You didn't watch the kid properly, he almost got hurt, you know that!"
Atticus froze for a moment, looking at Milo nervously, "I just saw Mom heading toward the sea rocks, I chased after her but didn't see anyone. I was afraid something happened."
Daryl froze, gasping.
All three Fields brothers looked toward the distant sea rocks and saw a tall, thin middle-aged woman standing at the edge, looking lonely.
"Mom." Daryl's heart jumped to his throat as he ran toward the rocks in panic.
The Fields family looked glamorous on the outside, but was actually like stagnant water—deep and dark.
Juliet, once such a proud woman, after learning her daughter had been switched, not only experienced and endured the pain of losing her daughter, but also had to bear her husband's infidelity and the public provocations of his mistress.
After that year, Juliet developed severe depression.
Over the years, if it weren't for the belief in finding her daughter supporting her, she probably wouldn't have made it this far.
"Mommy." Milo held onto Nora tightly.
The doctor wanted to examine him, but he cried whenever they tried to move him.
Seeing the Fields family people had all run off, Nora glanced carefully at Michael.
"Come on, let's go see."
Right now Michael just wanted to return Milo to the Fields family.
